Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Have they talked at all about if Final Smashes are going to not be completely random/unbalanced in this game?

I think my wish is for fewer characters than Brawl. Let's zone right in and get rid of the clones. Give Ganondorf his own move set, get rid of Wolf and Falco (if you need a second Starfox character make it Krystal and give her the staff & magic powers from Adventures) - really focus in and down. Less characters, but every one of them original. And better balance.

If they changed Wolf's side and up specials, and aren't completely lazy and give him a copy-paste final smash, I doubt anyone would even consider him a clone. Almost all his other attacks are plenty different from Fox and Falco.

When I said 'scraping the bottom of the barrel' I was not referring to the characters announced. I'm referring to the characters people here are suggesting.

But please continue to assume random bullshit.

My first post was responding to Anth0ny referring to the characters announced, and you joined in so I assumed you were agreeing with him.

Ridley is probably big name enough to still be an obvious inclusion. Aside from that, I generally agree most of the big boys are gone.

Ridley is an awkward one because he deserves to be in as a fighter, but his physical appearance would be really hard to translate into a fighter without it looking out of proportion or goofy

But the thing is, with Brawl at least, when they announced someone like Dedede, people went "finally"

I don't see anyone for the new Smash (other than Megaman who's already announced) where people say "finally" or "it took long enough"

The Nintendo big name staples are all already in the game, the roster at this point will probably all be niche picks or unexpected

not that there's anything wrong with that at all.
Ridley would probably be a "finally" character as well. Metroid's a big enough franchise that it deserves more than just Samus, and people have been begging for Ridley since Melee.

He is great, I just don't know if they'd include him since his game is older and was never released in the US...

To be honest, I'd totally be up for a Dissidia-esque Fire Emblem fighter. I would main Sigurd, Alviss and Seliph so hard.

It's weird because I had no idea Ganon was even considered bad till I checked the tier list a couple years ago. Our assumption was that Ganon, Ike, Marth, Olimar, Captain Falcon, and Meta knight were the best characters. We had some of those right but I was surprised how low some of them were. Really though we're all about the same skill level it's just that when I play as Ganon I win.

4 player is a completely different realm where the big fatty's can coexist because of how hard they hit. Ganon is one of my favorites in brawl, if only for that nasty STOMP! which always feels so good. He's just too slow in 1v1.

list time? list time. These are my favorites to play with.

1. Olimar
2. Marth
3. Dedede
4. Ganon
5. Fox

If it's ever serious ass whoopin' time, Olimar and Marth are the go to. I usually start off playing people with Ganon just to see how good they are and work my way up my tier haha.

Yeah I don't really play competitively. I don't really play one on one matches either. It's always just four player brawls for me and when I play as Ganon I pretty much always win. In my experience it's extremely easy to get kills with Ganon.

Seriously man, I'm on your side. I kick so much butt as Ganondorf in Brawl!

Me and some friends played Brawl before Tuesday's Direct and I won every time I played as Ganondorf. Before anyone insinuates my friends are bad, I'd class them as a mix of average to above average fighting game players.

Maaaan, Japan doesn't even care for Metroid that much. After all this time, I think it's a real stretch to get your hopes up about playable Ridley. The last Metroid game was a relative flop, there's no new Metroid game on the way (that we know of), and the series has never been hugely popular over there. I just don't think it's gonna happen.

I think Ridley would be a great addition. Very iconic and from one of nintendo's biggest series ever.

A completely unique and not clone Dark Samus would also be a welcome addition (but not expected). Final Smash is a transformation into Metroid Prime.

"Ridley is too big" isn't just some excuse. Getting him to fit will be a huge undertaking to look natural.

I agree Dark Samus would also be acceptable. She'd only be a clone if the developers got very lazy; she patently moves and attacks very differently to Samus in the Prime games.

Really I don't really care about the tier list as long as you're good with that character you can basically beat anyone with tactics.

The "too big" argument never made any sense to me. It's just a bad excuse for "I don't want him in over _____." Smash Bros is a fan service game that makes tons of concessions to get things to work. And making Ridley work would not be difficult.

It's not an excuse for anything. I would love for Ridley to be in Smash....if only he wasn't too big. There is no precedent for Nintendo shrinking a character's size in order to get them to work in Smash Bros.

As far as I'm concerned, anybody who's appeared in at least two games is likely not going to be cut. The original 12 and anybody that went from Brawl to Melee is safe. It's only Brawl-only people that will likely be cut. At least in my opinion. Also, Marth is the most popular FE lord so there's no way he's going to be cut anyway.

I think Sigurd is actually, and it wouldn't completely suprise me if they make Praim the Ike replacement in this game.

Let's not forget supersizing:

My character in Animal Crossing doesn't look like that. That's where I'm getting at. Should have been Tom Nook.

I agree on you somewhat about the looks part but I feel the Villager is fine the way he is and better than Tom Nook because people would probably know it's the villager right away and might feel nostalgia from seeing the villager (although same w/ Nook).

Maybe it just came down to the combos really, the villager can have unique combos while nook was a side char .

Bowser has appeared in all different sizes

also resizing Bowser doesn't make him look out of proportion or weird. Rescaling Ridley to person size runs the real risk of looking really odd.

Bowser has thick everything, so he scales really well. Ridley has a thin body with a few key parts that are hefty and armored, so when rescaled those thin body parts can't be scaled down as easily, because any thinner and they're invisible. So if you don't scale them as much as a the thicker parts, he suddenly starts to look out of proportion.

Bowser's size constantly changes. If you take a look at Super Mario Bros. he's much smaller. It's a lot easier to manipulate Bowser's size and make it believable.

I do want Ridley as a playable character though.

Most likely. Maybe the Villager is really Tom Nook without his costume on :0

As much as I'd like Nook too, you look at Villager and you know exactly who he is. Animal Crossing has an extremely iconic look to it, especially the only humans in the game.

(that I can remember at least)

I'm hoping that he's a villain actually. That reveal trailer . . him staring down at the letter . . it would be hilarious.

Well, Olimar is supposed to be very very very small... yet they made him the same size as Pikachu. And isn't Bowser supposed to be very big, at least in the "main" Mario games? Yet, in Smash(and other "party" games), he's barely twice the size as Mario.

But its true that a Ridley the same size as Brawl's Charizard would be weird.

It's the same with Ridley? The Ridley from the Prime games is huge compared to the Ridley in the handhelds.

I just think it's all bullshit. He has no out of Wolfen stuff in the actual series, and they've extrapolated enough with Fox already. I don't really like her, but Krystal at least had the staff and the magic powers Fox uses in adventures before he did (even if she is quickly kidnapped) and so she makes sense. A staff like that would be a different gameplay style, and welcome.

Look at his size compared to Samus. He's huge

Wow, you really got me there!

Yeah..really. In case you didn't notice Nintendo has never been consistent with Bowser's size.
He filled a giant hot tub at the end of Super Mario Sunshine.

Meanwhile, the only time Ridley has ever been considerably smaller is Metroid for the NES.

Edit: In all fairness, he is slightly smaller in the Metroid Prime games (at least the first one) compared to SM/MF/MZM/M:OM.
But still way too big to be a Smash character.

So are we to assume the rumors on Pac-man Little Mac, and Mii are fake.

For all we know, Nintendo probably noticed the leak and decides to delay the announcements.

No way could anyone could possibly guess Wii Fit Trainer...

Even so, there's Olimar who is tinier than a penny in his actual games.

Oh and I think Pikachu is actually smaller in the Pokemon games, I may be wrong on that though.

It's possible that the leaker knew about Villager, Mega Man, and Wii Fit Trainer in advance but decided for some reason to lie about the rest.

In Assault he left the Wolfen in multiplayer

...and he shoots guns. It's fucking boring. My point is we need to get away from three laser pistol wielding, reflector boasting characters, and Krystal actually has a move set right there in SFA. Better still, just get rid of them! Like Metroid, Starfox needs precisely one character to be effectively represented in this game. I'd rather they had less characters and had them all original and intricately balanced than have tons and have them like Brawl. Better still, have less characters and just go NUTS on assist trophies.

It's possible but sounds kind of... dumb to gain credibility and then throw it all away like that.

Also, didn't Sakurai very recently said if he were to put a Namco character it would be Pac-Man? Little Mac seems to be at least almost likely considering there's a Punch-Out!! stage.

I guess we'll see...

I'm probably just biased. Even though I see where you're coming from but I really don't ever want Krystal in Smash Bros... She reminds me of how bad the franchise has gotten.

They should just make Falco's and Wolf's Smash Moves more interesting. Falco should have dual wielding laser pistols (he did this in a SSE cutscene lol). Wolf... can uh... maybe have different types of weaponry? Idk.

Maybe he got extremely lucky? :P

Keep in mind that Brawl had an Animal Crossing stage with no character representation. That doesn't necessarily dismiss the possibility.

...Maybe? I am doubting it though, seems way too lucky...

Do you have a link to the post or site?

Honestly, I hope the Mii thing isn't true. But Little Mac would be great! I know he'll get in for sure.

Another thought, what female characters are a possibility?

I think so, I just hope they don't add tekken chars at all even as assist trophies x.x
