Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

How would this work if everyone has different sized Mii's. Not only that, how would I be playing as myself?! I don't play baseball!!
lol @ the baseball comment. But re: the size matter, there have been a number of Mii-based games (such as the various attractions in Nintendo Land) where the custom size you set for your Mii is changed to the default size that suits the game. In other words, Sakurai would pick one size body and simply allow players to swap in the different heads.

They could be saving similar updates for Villager and Wii Fit Trainer. Imagine: "On WiiU, you play as the boy Villager. But on the 3DS, you play as the girl!" "On WiiU, you play as the female Wii Fit Trainer. But on the 3DS, you play as the male!"

Or perhaps the 3DS version replaces the Wii Fit Trainer with Dr. Kawashima. BOOM!

Sylux is the only other Metroid rep I would like to see after Ridley.

Problem is that her (I doubt Sylux is male) chances are extremely low after only appearing in Metroid Hunters and having the ship cameo in 3.

Please for the love of god, Don't base Ridley off his awful Other M design if he's in Sakurai.

Fucking Team Ninja can't do anything right.

Maybe, maybe he could get his actually talented artists to redesign it a bit and aw fuck I can't say that with a straight face.

There's no fixing that abortion of a design.

They managed to make the Other M Samus somewhat okay but I don't think modern science has come far enough to fix Other M Ridley.

"I'm really sorry," he said through a translator. "If I were to answer that question, I'd get in a lot of trouble in a lot of different ways, so I can't answer. But I think I can say generally that there won't be a trend of adding a lot of third-party characters. You can sort of think of Mega Man as being the special case."
Lol this quote makes me remember when Raiden was leaked for the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale game XD, Platinum Games was royally pissed, so much that Inaba (I believe) said within an interview the game (PSABR) didn't look good.

Various interviews with Sakurai have already confirmed the two versions have the same roster of characters. If Dr. Kawashima is to appear as a character, he will be alongside Wii Fit Trainer, in both versions.

That being said, I see nothing so far to preclude the possibility of certain characters -looking- different in different versions of the game.

I really hope Mii ends up being legit. I want to beat people up with Reggie so bad.
Exactly, Miis could be hilarious. The screenshot potential alone is so boundless that it practically has to happen. Also, I suspect Villager got the Balloon Fight recovery (instead of Mii, who actually appears in Balloon Trip Breeze), because Mii will have the hang glider from Pilotwings Resort for his recovery.

Other M Ridley is diabolically bad, yeah. Why they decided to 'roid him to the max is beyond me.

I love the Metroid series, but I really don't care if Ridley is in or not, he looks like a generic flying beast. I'd rather have Adam Malkovich.

That's exactly Ridley's appeal. He's supposed to look beastly and witless, when he's in fact one of the most intelligent creatures in the known universe and leader of the Space Pirates.

Ooooooh for Master Hand and Crazy hand they should have a Mii Mask on him or Dr Kawashima:

Who is defeated and becomes:

To those who quoted and responded to this, if you read the link, you'd see it has nothing to do with any source of mine. The friend I mention linked me to the site in a Facebook message because he found it somewhere (probably reddit or N4G or something) and thought it was interesting. I wasn't "dead wrong" about anything because none of that is from me.

As for some people saying I published this information "after the fact," both the June 10 NeoGAF post and Gematsu article are from me. If you paid attention to the authors of both, you'd see they say 'salromano'. Also, my avatar on GAF is the (Mark Cernified) Gematsu mascot.

Anyway, getting to the actual reveals. As I said in my post on Gematsu, I don't know the legitimacy of the person who tipped me, which is why I held onto this information (it'd be unprofessional to publish something without verification) and posted it on NeoGAF as 'speculation'. I thought all the characters were pretty outlandish, to be honest. Especially Wii Fit Trainer girl. I wasn't even aware she was an actual character. But yeah, after she was confirmed, I figured I'd share the rest, which my source told me would appear at E3, barring impromptu change.

That said, it's possible their reveal dates got pushed back or something. I'd think 6 new character reveals are pretty heavy for a single expo.

I'm still inclined to believe the guy considering he was spot on about three of 'em (including the most unlikely). I don't know. But considering that boxing ring stage, Sakurai's talk about customization, and his seemingly interested back-and-forth with IGN about Pac-Man, it's hard to think otherwise.

If I hear anything further, I'll let you guys now. I'm out for now!

So yea, it seems we had pretty much guessed what happened right except for the source. Thanks for the link.

Hah. Yeah, that was only a joke thing. :P But I honestly have never noticed that the Mii's were at a specific size. I thought it stayed true to it. So, I guess my argument is invalid.

I still wouldn't want to see my Mii playable. >.< Since it isn't exactly a nintendo thing, WFT was an exception. And I appreciate her inclusion now.

That said, I'm not sure... Your idea definitely sounds good, but isn't Sakurai strict on what defines a "different" character? When you look at alternate costumes, you have Wario that is given a complete makeover yet is the same character -- and then you have Captain Falcon who could much more easily turn into Blood Falcon with a couple more changes, but the costume remains a rough reference to the character rather than something more.

Well, I know you're not talking about an alternate costume of course. But if that happened, wouldn't the casts technically be a bit different?

I wonder how Peach will look in this. Both her Melee and Brawl designs were rather "complex" in comparison to her usual Mario game design, but this time they're not aiming for elaborate/realistic designs at all.

Bingo right here
Boxing ring def means Lil Mac
And that customization between 3DS and WiiU thing when Sakurai said it wont be diff outfits, screams transferring your Mii fighters

I'd imagine like 3D world

Considering mario looks somewhat similar

Just looked at your screen from SSB:Villager's Revenge and

This is the first time I notice there's a soccer ball item straight from Wii Fit in the game.

Man, so if boxing ring is a little mac tease, I hope they follow it up by putting a hint at the next character in the little mac reveal trailer.

There's been a bunch of NEW / IMPROVED IP Since Brawl's Release. Not saying any of these will make the cut, but it's nice to know there's been a few things recently released on nintendo systems that would not have made the cut for brawl just yet.

Fighter Potential: (does not rule out stage potential as well)

Dillon's Rolling Western
Sakura Samurai
HarmoKnight
Heracles (brought to US for first time)
Chase McCain
Xenoblade (Shulk presumably)
Little Mac (revived IP)
Yarn Kirby
Yarn Yoshi
Sin and punishment 2 (isa /kachi)
Toad as playable character in NSMB Wii/Wii U/3d World (super unlikely)
Kid icarus uprising secondary characters (palutena, hades, medusa, etc etc etc)

Stage/Assit trophy Potiential:

FreakyForms
Pushmo/Pullblox
Ketzal's Corridors
Style Savvy
Steel Diver
WUHU Island (wii fit/wii sports resort/Pilotwings resort)
Fossil Fighters
Art Academy
Picross 3D
Rhythm Heaven (brought to US for first time after brawl)
Zangeki no Reginleiv (unlikely, no western release, maybe assist trophy)
Flingsmash
ExciteBots

Realistically, though, only Shulk/Little mac stand a chance as new characters, everything else will likely be assist trophy/stage. Maybe a KI:U secondary character, MAAAAYBE yarn kirby. Anything else will just have to be old IP stuff.

What about the Last Story?

That's a wii fit trainer ability, not an item.

I think she spikes it like a volleyball

I forgot about king boo/boos, i can kinda see them make the roster

has a boo appeared in a smash game before, other then as trophies 0_O

king boo up in this thread

I only looked at a list of nintendo published titles. That's developed by mistwalker, published by xseed, exclusive to a nintendo console.

Does nintendo OWN the last story IP? (serious question)

Yes, for some reason NoA didn't publish the Last Story and Pandora's Tower for the US. NoE and NoJ both published the titles, NoE did the localisation for both titles and Xenoblade.

There's so much great characters, it'd be a shame. I would love to have Saki and Isaac playable. Then of course Waluigi to fill out the gap, but then i'd rather have Bowser Jr. over him.

I mean out of the ones I listed. Of course there are a ton of characters from existing IP that would be great to include.

I'll try to clarify what I mean.

In both versions, Wii Fit Trainer is called Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager is called Villager.

In both versions, they play exactly the same.

But in the WiiU game, Villager uses the male model, and in the 3DS game, the female model.

And in the WiiU game, Wii Fit Trainer uses the female model, and in the 3DS game, the male model.

Same character. Same name. Same moves. Same properties. Just different models.

I wonder how Peach will look in this. Both her Melee and Brawl designs were rather "complex" in comparison to her usual Mario game design, but this time they're not aiming for elaborate/realistic designs at all.

I wouldn't mind if they kept the brawl look but touched up the colors a bit.

Hmm, I suppose that besides Little Mac, there's also Isaac that has some chances. Would they choose him over Matthew? Waluigi though? He's the perfect Assist Trophy, I think... He's the most iconic "bench" character -- the leader of ATs. :-P

Switching the character models on Villager doesn't seem like much of an issue, but Wii-Fit Trainer's different physiques between genders would result in some wonky hitboxes.

I'd rather have Adam Malkovich.
Why on Earth would you want a generic military dude who has no special abilities besides wrecking a story and shooting shit?

I'd personally prefer Dark Samus over Ridley because I think she has a more interesting skill set, but both of them are light-years more unique and desirable than Adam Malkovich.

Gotcha. I guess I've been comparing the idea to Sakurai's line of thinking with alternate costumes and the like, but the situation in this case is rather unique, since we've never had two games in one go. It's a great idea, hopefully not showing 3DS material of them was for a reason. :-D
