Metal Gear Solid V (PS3/360/PS4/XBO/Maybe PC) - Extended 9 minute E3 trailer

For MGS4 spoilers? I really don't think there are any in there as far as I know. Anything I'm missing, people?

As for spoiling MGSV itself, I think it doesn't really spoil all that much, but it does shed a lot of light on stuff.

fucking nanomachines!

Or did she just settle for this only?

I thought Fox Engine was all about "PHOTO"realism and seeing through clothes.

I can understand the lyrics of course, but with English songs i can easily "not concentrate" and then the words come off as just a sound (like when i'm listening a song in a language i don't understand).
If i'm listening to a song in my native language, however, i can't do that.

Maybe you're just better with English than me, then.

Actually, now that I think of it, Calling to the Night wasn't exactly cheesy either.

what release schedule? i think this is further off than we think given that the trailer didn't have a ballpark date. spring 2014 at the earliest is my guess.

She look great. I'll give you that.

I do question the wisdom of a sniper dressing like that in a harsh battlefield environment though?

Can't wait for this game, the trailer and music is amazing beyond words, just like the MGS4 ones were when they came out. This is going to be a reason for me to get a next gen console (just like MGS4 got me to buy a PS4!)

Dressing like that is a ruse to lure another sniper sniping at her (@$$) from behind and get all his attention. A good way to secure her rear entrance. Oh Kojima !

From what I gather from the red band trailer, she may have just gotten out of a torture compound.

Can't see an online beta happening this summer.
sadly

I'm thinking it will be a private beta, but who knows, we may be surprised.

This "schedule", though... I'm having a really hard time imagining MGSV being released this year. No way in hell that's happening. It's possible that he's referring to Ground Zeroes, though; that will very likely be released this year, regardless of the distribution method (stand alone downloadable game? demo? sold as a regular game at stores at a reduced price?). MGSV itself will probably be released no sooner than Summer 2014. Hope I'm wrong, though.

Alright, since it seemed like nobody else was going to do it, I went ahead and edited together all the footage of MGSV released so far together into the order that they happen. I'm confident it's at least 90% accurate.

It's 33:30 in all, and I recommend watching with annotations. I plan on re-editing it as new trailers are released.

Maybe by online beta, he meant releasing Ground Zeroes for free on the PSN and Xbox Live. Think about it, the demo of the prologue mission did feats and wonders for MGS2's sales, the best selling game in the series history. Why not repeat that? Calling it a beta would just bring the hype up more.

The game has been in development since 2011 with the Fox engine, maybe even before that. I won't be surprised if he does keep to that schedule. Whatever the case may be, at Gamescom there will be a gameplay demo :D

I love how the truck driver honks to greet the foot patrol. Can't think of many other developers who'd pay attention to such small details.

Which part is that? That sounds cool. I only noticed that van driver hitting his door to get rid of the sheep blocking the road.

It's just after Snake climbs in the back, and just before he lies down to avoid the two guards. You can also see one of the guards waving back to the driver in response.

Thanks. Just saw that. That is a great touch! It really makes the world even more immersive for me.

So I'm I'm assuming Miller is the guy who Liquid later goes onto inpersonate?

I'm thinking of the boss fights in this, they're going to be insane in an open world.

If they haven't announced a date yet, I doubt it'll be released this year. I wouldn't be surprised with a simultaneous current & next-gen release.
maybe if its only the current-gen version they didn't want it to be overshadowed by all the next-gen games and news.
Announced at a later date to hype it up.

Lol not likely.

Som I'm assuming Miller is the guy who Liquid later goes onto inpersonate?

Yes he is.

Yeah, in MGS1 Liquid impersonates MIller up until Naomi and Snake become suspicious of him when he tells Snake some info about Naomi that nobody is aware of until then, and especially when he tells Snake that he (Miller) has worked for the FBI in the past.

Later on Ames sends DIA agents to Miller's home, only to find out that he had been murdered. Likely by Liquid, but never said for sure.

I mean Ground Zeroes was announced back in what?...I think mid-2012, right? Even back then it looked pretty far along. I really don't think a 2013 release is as crazy as people think, especially in December when most of the heavy hitters like CoD/Battlefield/GTAV/FIFA/Madden are in the rear-view mirror.

I still believe!

I was thinking the other day, "I really hope they don't end the game on...

I don't want to see some giant lab of Snake clones, which basically change everything in the universe. I'm fine if they want to redo the universe even, it would make me sad to see such a great series kind of get wiped away, but don't do it that way.
Actually, that's how I thought MGS2 was going to go, before I knew much about it.

Based on what??

PW was announced at E3 2009 and came out in summer 2010. That was about a year give or take even considering it looked far along.
The release date was revealed in dec of that year. I have a feeling well get similar work here. Kojima does seem to be done with the long waits like he did with MGS4. But not short enough to be the same year they're announced. Though I bet the TGA trailer will be where the release date shows up.

Well people I may be on to something the following is what is on the poster Kojima said that there is hidden info on. If you take the first letter of each line, then the second letter of each line and the third letter of each line and put the together you get the following anagrams for some interesting stuff.

1. AACTEMRRS = *ARMS TEC* additional (R) and A could stand for Research
2. CCEVAUEE = *Evacuee* with a (C) being left off.
3. CQSECNRC = *CQC Recs/B]* with a N being left off.
^^^-Not to much validity but I guess it was a shot.

ACC: 320451
ACQ TM: 00:23:46.21V

RUN 233

The following numbers appear 3 times in the poster going down in a straight line. The numbers that appear twice are 03 and 12.

I think it is a release date, 03 12 could mean 03/12(Day/Month)=12/03/2013 which is a Tuesday which is when games are released or 03/12/(Month/Day)

What do you guys think?

Found it. This was the December post we were referring to.

The first we had seen anything of mgs5 was like December or November of 2011. I don't think a December release is terribly unrealistic seeing as a fair amount of work was done by even that point.

Who writes this shit? Like, for real. MGS games have the crappiest lyrics ever.

Most MGS songs don't even have lyrics...

Not sure what you think they should have used.

Legs and plunging necklines woohoo! I appreciate eyecandy, really, but if I were the person being interviewed, I'd be having a REALLY hard time trying not to look at her chest/legs.

Pfft was that dress really necessary?

I thought you were joking at first, but wow. That's a regular old sundress. Don't get out much, do we?

There was the Fox Engine demo was E3 2011, not technically MGS5 but we'll probably see most things from that demo in the game.

Good point. Do we actually have any confirmation that "project ogre" was really something different, or could it have been an MGS game all along?

I mean, from the looks of some of the FOX engine demos, asset-wise there were already some MGS assets in there.

wasn't this almost a year ago?

I don't think there was any direct confirmation but this is another Project Ogre image, and it's clearly something that would lead to MGSV.

This was back in 2011.

I think this line from MGS4 is a great-sum up of what we'll see in MGSV:

MGS4 SPOILES

"Had you been in my place back then, maybe you wouldn't have made... the same mistakes that I did..."[/I
]

I feel like we're getting that quote as a game. We get to see exactly what he meant.

Yep, and yea at this point its safe to say project ogre and mgsv are one in the same but it was always painfully obvious.

Project ogre

Thanks for this, I forgot a few details from the older trailers so this clears things a bit.

So after Skull Face destroys Mother Base, Big Boss becomes infamous worldwide as the true power of his army was revealed and Cipher probably adds oil to the fire. It also seems like Cipher and Zero don't know where Big Boss is, (perhaps declared deceased or missing) so as soon as he wakes up, Cipher tries to eliminate him and fails. Ocelot rescues Big Boss and mentions that the whole world wants him dead, not just Cipher, hooks him up with prosthetics and resources. They go to Afghanistan and Big Boss rescues Miller, so the old crew is back and they form the Diamond Dogs.

I'm not so sure about the whole 9 year time gap, especially with Miller. Was he held and tortured by Cipher in Afghanistan? The brutality of the torture seems to indicate this, as he was probably branded as a traitor.

I like the dark mood indicated in the trailers, it seems Miller will be crucial to Big Boss' fall to the "dark side".

Project "Ogre"

ogre

1: a hideous giant of fairy tales and folklore that feeds on human beings : monster

2: a dreaded person or object

Seems to me like it's a fitting name for the game that's going to likely portray Big Boss's fall into infamy.
