Angry Joe: Major Nelson Interview (Xbox One) E3 2013

Good on ya ANgry Joe..some important Questions put forth..but sadly Nelson is being a bit of a douche and not answering with really vague answers

Well done AJ for the interview. I think this is the most aggressive questioning so far.

Major Nelson is a dodge master, should wear a ninja suit.

Interesting to see Major Nelson advocating abusing the family sharing feature.

I am waiting to see what happens when developers and publishers actually get that moment and understand that Microsoft is not just allowing gamers but telling and touting as a feature to buy less games and instead share these games with ten completely random friends who can use them at anytime instead of buying the games themselves.
Sony had gamesharing but it was selective and nothing remotely like this and they definitely did not throw it into the spotlight like this.
I would love to hear some developer's opinions on this, especially with Clifford and others all bitching and moaning about costs.

Check this follow up video, Joe has more info about the family pack.

Says he later found out that Larry was slight mistaken, it is 2 people at the same time. But when 2 people are playing at the same time its for singleplayer only. Also the other 8 people are not locked out from playing other games in the shared library. DLC is also shared.

Oh. Snap. (watching now)

How can so much horseshit spew from the mouth of one man? How is this possible? Transistors in the cloud? Join me in the future? Is this real life? My mind is literally blown.

I havnt watched that much from Angry Joe, but is he really a persona? From the Xbox One rants/initial impressions he did, he seemed like a genuine guy to me, not something acted like Francis is.

I meant YouTube personality and not a journalist, hes genuine

I like Major Nelson, he seems like a good guy.

Of course you do.

Good god, just release a fucking fact sheet.
I think the people who made the features know how they work (obviously)
I'm quite certain nobody knows how these features work, because nobody has made these features; and at this stage it's all smoke and bullshit while they make things up as they go along.

Everytime Joe was going to roll Larry he just spewed out "Do you want to join the future Joe?" lol pathetic....

Can we all agree this has got to be the worst PR work ever done for any product in the history of mankind? I'm beyond words for what Microsoft is doing in terms of mixed messages right now, just unbelievable.

Wow, that question at around 7 minutes. People in different countries, or bad internet, Major Nelson changes the subject about the great features for the fortunate, but completely ignored those people.

Say what you will about Joe in the heat of the moment, and swearing or cursing in some videos, but this was a great 1 on 1.

Is Major Nelson for real about publishers/CDProjekt not wanting to do DRM, no restriction of selling games etc. that MS will help them out on that front? Somehow I doubt it.

To me it sounds like anything on the account is shared, DLC all the same. Like PS3.

But where it gets confusing is that 2 people can play SP games but what about MP? And it's still 2 concurrent and let me be clear because this is what I heard in the interview so bare with me......

If one person sells the game (which the pubs have to allow on Xbone) to another person, doesn't that exhaust the potential license other than the original owner registering it to his/her account?

This sounds utterly and spectacularly unnecessary I can't even understand why MSFT implemented this BS.

I'm more confused.

Joe isn't a journo, he does this shit on his own and has a passion for it. He can't get many interviews at all and he busts his ass off to get what he can. Big publishers turn him down all the time and it sounded like he was lucky to get this one. He isn't gonna spit in Hyrb's face and start yelling at him...what would that even accomplish?

Major Nelson's media training definitely shows. He does pretty much everything right:

-turns the question back on the interviewer
-answer the question you want to answer not the one that is asked
-make a strong physcal presence (at one point he literally takes the fucking microphone!)

I almost feel sorry for Joe. But I admit after watching the whole thing, he did better than I expected but that was primarily because Larry's hands were so tied.

:lol. You've always been on the MS train for some reason. Nelson just shows he doesn't really know shit there.

No, I haven't "always been on the MS train".

I've just mostly played on the system that has things that are better for be personally.

I went from PS2, to Xbox 360 as my main consoles. I was going to get a PS4 first until I heard about the family share plan which would personally be better to me.

Outside of that, I don't get what your reply has anything to do with what I stated.

Whoa... that fucking sucks then. Softball questions?

nah not at all. Some really good straight forward questions that we all been having about the system and its features. MJ is just showing his PR skills or lack of it without giving any proper answers

'Angry' Joe is just a name and for show, the guy is rarely angry but when he does get angry he becomes really passionate about what he is talking about.

I like how Nelson is telling Joe "YOU'RE REALLY HUNG UP ON DRM MAN" but the only thing he keeps bringing up as a benefit is the "family plan."

I expect him to be courtesy and polite but he lets Larry control the entire conversation. Like you said though, I know he isnt a professional. I sympathize worth him. He doesn't have thousands of dollars worth of media training.

Oh now PR wants to step in. Where were they when Don was talking about submarines?

Decent interview though. Console needs to launch already so we get past this speculation and what if scenario bullshit.

all the stupid cloud stuff :lol

All the stuff he said i could use even without getting online each day. If i play a game which use Cloud Stuff aka Server i go just online, like on the PC since the 90s

I guess we will have to wait until the game releases to know for sure.

In the meantime, I'm not taking any chances on their system.

Also, he called himself the father and Joe the son. He sure knows how to work inexperienced interviewers.

Actually a good interview, actual questions a gamer would ask and no softball shit. Joe held his own too, didn't seem overwhelmed at all and kept his composure when Major Nelson got a bit snappy; He actually made Nelson squirm a bit lol, he did not want to be there after a while.

After the reddit question interview and this one, MN family plan answer reminds me of "the implication" scene from 'Its always sunny in Philly.'

MN: Gamers will agree to the DRM because you know, of the family plan.
Interviewer: It sounds like you want gamers to give up their rights for a feature.
MN: You aren't getting it. It's a family plan for up to 10 people.
Interviewer: Yeah, but it sounds like...
MN: What part of family plan don't you understand?

Let me get this straight, you think all this BS is worth going with Xbone when this is limiting as hell. How do you think MP games are going to work? Do you think 2 out of your 10 friends are going to be allowed to enjoy CoD Ghosts at the same time without being logged into the master account?

Do you understand that even I'm confused and I've been a part of a family plan.

It's not necessary and not better than PS4. I don't care how you word it and I'm trying to be as polite as can be. This whole Xbone situation is such a mess I can't even recommend it on the merit of games because the red tape involved with MSFT's policies. I don't know of anyone who is willing to bend over backwards like this other than 2 of my die hard 360 friends.

I've been watching Major Nelson interviews and live events all week and he seems fine to me. He seems like a gamer which is great.

He's a nice guy but he has to answer the hard questions about MSFT's bogus policies with Xbone. I can't blame him but also have to hold him accountable. He's a nice guy and I like him as well, for the record.

Being able to share DLC as well as games (single player) sounds too good to be true.

MS needs to come out with a blog clearing all of this up immediately.

I agree, it's so unnecessarily confusing.

Joe, mad props to you, you asked the best questions with the short time he had. You were honest and even though the PR behind the scenes was stopping you cold you plowed through.

I wish these guys would answer this stone cold honest instead of confusing us more.
