Just in general I feel like any artist ever should never talk about the quality of their work as being "the best" or "the voice of this generation". Art is relative and to call your own work the best is just showing others how ignorant you are towards that objectivity. It's almost a maturity issue.

I actually thought that whole scene was hilarious. Melodramatic, sure, but dude was clearly letting some real emotion out on live TV. Bush calling that one of the lowest moments of his presidency was way more embarrassing.

I don't hate him for it - but that was the first time I ever thought "that dude's an idiot." He did come back and walk back from that a bit later. The man needs a mind-mouth filter.
He keeps saying and doing stupid shit that gets him in deep, reacts by spewing shit off the cuff that anyone speaking against him is just a hater, then he comes around a few months later with a seemingly heartfelt apology and about how he learned his lesson. And then the whole damn cycle starts all over again.
On the scale of people that really enrage me or make me just wonder "why the hell is that person famous?" - Kanye ranks pretty low on both for me, but being good at making music doesn't justify other poor behavior.

You're very unlikely to see me defending the Bush Administration for just about anything. However, do you really think that the inept response was because George Bush doesn't care about Black people? I think he was just generally inept all around, and didn't care for anyone outside his Good Old Boys. I think if San Francisco, Seattle, or just about anywhere short of Texas were flooded off the map the response would've been just as poor.
Not to mention the atrocious response of the local police force, with which Bush and his cronies had nothing to do...

I love Kanye in part because of his egotism and attitude, but it's a turn-off to some for obvious reasons. He's very materialistic, self-centred, controlling of his wife (dressing her for instance), shallow, can be misogynistic (Throw Some D's remix, Work Out Plan, did you SEE that Drake video he directed? Got Dam!), I'm more surprised that people are surprised that Kanye ISN'T universally loved.
