So how's Diablo III these days?

subversus

I've done nothing with my life except eat and fap
We're on the second playthrough of Torchlight 2. My girlfriend can't get back to Path of Exile because there are no pets, portals to town don't last long and she's crazy on loot.

Did they fix it enough to make it a good action-RPG or will we be dissapointed after PoE and TII?

It's worth at least one playthrough for the combat alone, but other than that, not really.
If you're into loot grinding at the end, the numbers are still far too low for rarer drops.

Better. Still not much of a loot game yet, but the combat is solid and they sanded down the weird difficulty spikes in Inferno. Some things like the writing and weak dungeon randomization have not/never will be addressed, though.

Is normal mode still a braindead cakewalk?

Kinda. They introduced Monster Power in a recent patch, and that significantly makes the game more fun. I usually start all my softcore playthroughs with it set at the highest (MP10), which makes it almost as hard as Inferno.

If you play now, I recommend at least Monster Power 5. You'll get so much more enjoyment out of the game because it'll actually be a challenge. You'll level up faster and get better loot too.

Monster Power was truly the best thing they've ever introduced to the game. Yet even that can't save the fact that there's no permanent customization options, so there's no reason to ever play any class more than once.

Played D3 until I hit a huge difficulty wall in act 1/2 on inferno. I could keep grinding for gold or get my credit card out to buy my way though but I chose not to. Went back to the game last month and killed Diablo with the same character. I don't feel like playing it ever again

When was the last time you played? It is far, far better than it was on release and there is more to do in the endgame (monster power, paragon levels, hellfire rings, other high-end crafting). The combat feels as good as ever, more weighty yet responsive than PoE and Torchlight 2 IMO. But it's still Diablo 3 and it still suffers from pretty boring itemization and the Auction House sapping the fun out of drops. You look at every drop as basically an illiquid pile of gold because the chance you will ever find something that replaces what you can get from the AH is practically nil.

There is supposed to be a huge loot rework coming that will revamp itemization but it won't be out before Blizzcon in November.

Honestly , it hasn't changed much. The only thing now is that the economy is strange. You can buy gold on the real money auction house for almost nothing, which in turns allows you to kit out all your lvl 60 characters with half decent version of legendaries to facepalm inferno on monster power 1 to 5 for the price of a happy meal... Why even bother playing and farming when you can buy gear that blows what you would find on your own for the price of a coca cola bottle or two.

Gold is devaluated, the top tier items are overpriced to the point where only exploiters and gold farmers can buy them and frankly unneeded for inferno unless you're really into farming inferno on Monster Power 10... Which is probably less efficient than farming on a lower MP anyway in terms of drops.

In terms of endgame, asides from tedious farming, you got key farming to create infernal machines and defeat uber bosses in hopes of getting the hellfire ring, but that's it, there's still not really any interesting endgame content... Sure , you can get paragon levels now , if you're one of these guys that want to level grind for all eternity, but meh, not my cup of tea. PVP is there, but nobody does it.

Softcore economy is screwed due to all of the cloned gold. High end items go for more than the 2billion AH cap in a lot of cases. I've played countless hours and have a plvl 100 char but never have seen 2bil gold. Hardcore economy isn't as bad (at least it wasn't last time I played) but if your internet connection isn't rock solid it's not something you will want to play.

Diablo 3 is great. Just started new wizard with my brother. We are going to play only on monster power 10 and without auction house. It's fun!
PoE and TII are really boring compared to D3.

Game is much better now than it was at launch but still does not really touch D2 and PoE.

Normal is fairly easy but you can make it harder by cranking up the MP level. Game on its journey to level 60 is very fun because of the combat but once you start getting into Paragon leveling it starts to become a grind. You can get hundreds of Rares in a run and not one of them is decent. If you avoid the AH and play on Hardcore the game feels a lot more wholesome.

I would imagine beating Hardcore Inferno MP10 no AH would be a solid challenge for most but the challenge isn't a matter of skill, its a matter of patience and endurance.
