Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

I fucking hate it when people call it Super Smash BROS.

IT'S BROTHERS. SUPER. SMASH. BROTHERS!

But it says it right here.. T^T

There is a very clear delineation between the abilities of Ganondorf the man and Ganon the beast and they basically never, ever cross over.

Not really. Both giant Ganon and small Ganondorf have wielded two swords, both have consistently fought with magic spells, and both share the exact same pattern of weakness (Master Sword into Arrow of Light, or vice versa). There is a general pool of abilities that Ganon pulls from, be it giant beast Ganon, human Ganondorf, or Ganon's dopplegangers (Phantom Ganon and Agnaheim). Oracle game giant beast Ganon uses as much magic as OoT humanoid Ganondorf. OoT Ganon uses a similar two-swords fighting style to Wind Waker Ganondorf. There is a lot of overlap.

Good read, though I think you're under selling Ike a bit much here. Ike is definitely one of the most popular FE lords, and his inclusion in Brawl definitely helped with that. Also, I think the Fire Emblem development team really likes Ike (he even has his own
descendant
in one of the DLC chapters).

Bonus chapters, you mean. And, dialogue hypes up Ike as the strongest warrior from all time in some DLC chapters. So, yes, the Fire Emblem development team seems to like him quite a bit. I think Sakurai clearly didn't share the enthusiasm though, considering how he didn't even bother with a sword beam and completely ignored Lord Ike and Greil while giving him his color selection. It just seems like he was added more because he was the newest Fire Emblem main character than because Sakurai actually cared about the character.

We don't call Super Mario Bros. BROS. We call it Super Mario BROTHERS.

FUCK.

This brother speaks truth.

I don't know anyone who says "Super Smash BROs" when saying the name. I always hear "Brothers" when people refer to the title. Believe me, I'd notice if someone said it wrong. They'd get a stern talking to. :p

Pretty sure it is Smash Bros.

When the announcer yells the title, it's "Super... SMAAAAAAAASH Brothers!" or "Super Smash Brothers Meeeeleeeeeeee!"

If you started out with Brawl which has no announcer, maybe you'd not know how to pronounce it because Brawl has no awesome announcer.

I'm sorry, I really can't equivocate a gigantic and ponderous boar monster wielding two swords in a manner you might wield a large club and a quick dual wielding fighting style that consists of numerous acrobatic jumps and fluid dance like moves. I don't see them as the same at all.

I think this seems rather presumptuous. I don't think we can extrapolate how much Sakurai likes a character based on how close their movesets and colors match what they had in the game they originate from.

Doesn't explain the noodle legs.

Probably a reference to the Awakening in-game models?

The main issue is that there just wasn't much effort put into making him recognizable, especially compared to other members of the Smash cast. Sakurai went with a generic castle, rather than something specific to Ike's games, and then the only signature element taken from his game that he received was Aether. Everything else was basically there for convenience of Smash's gameplay (like his slow and powerful style). Well, he has counter, to reference the turn based gameplay, but that just comes from something he had already done for Marth. It's not an issue of missing one or two specific elements, like the colors making references to other elements of his game, but Ike's general presence in Smash.

Man, so I know the chances of a playable Monster Hunter are slim to none (read: none) but even the idea of just a MonHun STAGE thrills me. They've done incredible stuff with large monster-stages before (Kraid, Parasite Queen, Shadow Moses), I just know they could do something really, truly excellent with a Rathian or something. Maybe multiple somethings. I hate getting my hopes up for things that will NOT happen, but I have to voice it. I guess that's mostly what this thread is about in the end.

While I agree that Leif is ridiculously unpopular and unlikely, I kinda think he gets too little credit here. Though he was a sword-wielding lord in his own game, he could promote to use any weapon type but dark magic in FE4 which I think would give him a huge edge as far as having a versatile moveset goes. He also has the unique(? I don't remember) ability to capture enemies and take their stuff which could be a kind of neat disabling move.

edit: I guess I should also note that I'm just kinda biased for Leif. Thracia being my first experience with the series.

Everyone in Thracia had the ability to capture enemies, so it wasn't exclusive to Leif.

Ironically, Leif is very incapable of capturing the majority of enemies due to his low Build. It's not really a defining trait of his, but it's a signature part of his game.

They should go with this, no other main character would be dual wielding. She's a lord and she was good enough for assist trophy status when they could have used hector or elliwood. Its a long shot but you never know with sakurai anymore.

You know this would be pretty awesome. Give her dual swords and her bow. Perfect new FE rep that can be used to represent not only the first dual swords character, but a new female, the portable games of FE, and the first localized FE in the west.

Zelda has wisdom, thus her magic
Link has courage, thus his weapons and trusty sword
gandorf is POWER he needs to have his swords and magic.

ganondorf moveset
B- charge move where he takes out sword stabs in ground making dark magic appear around him (the more its charged the further the bast radius around him.) Kinda like ike's b move
B forward- Magic blast like Zelda b forward. but can change direction stronger though but alot slower.(kinda a mixture of pk flash, and dins fire)
b-down should be a dark pull that brings enemies near him doing rapid damage.
B up- dark teleport. Quickly teleports reappearing with a burst of dark energy, would be like Zelda teleport but faster start up and longer cool down.

And his sword moves should be a mixture of punches and Sword play, and final smash should be him Ganon

So glad both versions will have the same amount of characters, AND there will be limitations on third-parties. Too much third-parties and it starts to ruin the original intention IMO.

Up until now smash only had lords that could only use a sword. I forgot she could use a bow throw that in there as well, but his is sounding pretty good already when I never really considered her at first.

Except boar-Ganon isn't always a gigantic and ponderous monster. In his original versions we was large, but only in the same sense that Bowser was large. He wore a cape, talked, and used magic that was sneaky and tricky in nature, using invisibility and shadows to strike from unexpected directions, perhaps reflecting his original origins as a thief.

Besides, you originally stated that Ganon only used two-swords once, not that he used an acrobatic fighting style once.

In any case, Smash Bros.'s depiction of Ganon as a slow and ponderous brawler is about as far from any version of the character as you can get. Ganon really needs a change. I still think the Trident is the best choice in weapon, since it is his most iconic.

Oh yeah speaking of that, I wonder would smash give them regular feet or go for the peg legs lol.

I think the peg legs were just for those in-battle models. In cutscenes, everyone seemed pretty fleshed out. I'm sure they'll be more anatomically sound than that.

I like your approach, but it feels too same-y. I would rather his B up be a teleport that ends in a grapple, for example. It adds more flavor to him while keeping a part of his moveset. Ganondorf vanishes, appears next to an opponent, grabs their neck, and choke slams them to the ground.

What was Ganondorf's moveset like in Skyward Sword? His Twilight Princess incarnation wasn't memorable for me...

Fucking BAWS looking Lyn from Awakening would be a dream come true.

DO IT SAKURAI. You know you want that red hot character design in there.

She got an assist trophy last time, and Sakurai can do whatever he wants during his lunch break so I am going to hope he is inclined to do this.

That would be great. I don't think it will be Chrom, because he looks too much like Marth. Plus they should get a female FE character in there.

No that's not why hahaha. The designers just seem to have a thing for blue haired protagonists. There are a few in the series who are related as stated before. The hair is just coincidental. That shouldn't stop you from checking out the rest of the games though ;).

Oh. Well then.. Haha. Funny that they choose to have such things, it would have been great if they were all related. XP But i'm definitely going to check out the games whenever I get the chance.

I'm curious about the story, and where these characters fall under.

They write it Bros. but it's pronounced Brothers. Why do you think there's a . after Bros? Because Bros. is an abbreviation for Brothers.

So...we're discussing how to pronounce "bros." Talk about lack of news lol.

Pronouncing and/or spelling it either way is correct.

Current FE lord, I think he has a better shot than Lyn honestly.

He isn't the only Lord in Awakening; he isn't even the most popular Lord in Awakening. If the Awakening rep isn't replacing Ike, Lucina is a lot more likely than Chrome.

Under what basis do you have to say that Lucina is more popular than Chrom?

The story of FE largely depends on the games, a lot of them are in different universes from others. Basically:

1, 2, 3 and Awakening are in the same universe.
4 and 5 are in the same universe.
6 and 7 are in the same universe.
8 is standalone.
9 and 10 are in the same universe.
11 and 12 are remakes of 1 and 3.

All the universes are different from each other.

But you know whats worst about it?
The narrator never says at the end SUPER SMASH BROTHERS..... BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWL!

That title narration would have been so epic with the intro music :(
That was a real bummer. It freakin' made the endings for the original & Melee. It was a small touch, but a great one. Hoping they bring it back, just maybe don't make it so the announcer says "SUPER SMASH BROTHERS.........WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!"
