Why do alot of people hate kanye?

I was one of his biggest fans. College drop out was an amazing record. His older work on the jigga albums was hot. He's extremely talented. That said, he's now unbearably arrogant and full of shit.

I also don't like the dark tone of his newer music. Too much casual satanic shit on mbdtf. Album was amazing work, but I can't support it. Not down with that. Now calling his new album yeezus is just too much for me to be down.

Losing his mom pushed him over the edge, I think.

A real shame.

Man...you articulated exactly how I feel about his new album. Yeezus?! Smh...808s was his best album imo.

You aren't very familiar with rap music, are you?

Is that the only defense? There is good, bad and mediocre execution.

This has been going on since the 90s. Hip-Hop artists letting you know they are great and wealthy. It can be fun but it's disposable.

I got R U Still Down? (Remember Me) double CD back when it was new. Mostly because of "I Wonder If Heaven Got a Ghetto" and maybe I thought other songs of his were on it. Was hard to know back in the day. But it didn't much click with me. Probably not meant to be a rap guy.

But today when "Keep Ya Head Up" "Dear Mama" "I Ain't Mad at Cha" "Do for Love" pop up on one of the video channels I really like those.

It helps that those songs have some feeling and substance.

Yes kanye went from very humble with college dropout to extremely arrogant after Graduation. Money changes people Lupe is sort of the same as he came in very humble as well. I couldn't care less about the majority of mainstream hip hop anyways.

Also when he started rapping it was actually about issues now its nonsense for the most part

things were just better in the 90's, like less offensive dancing minorities/new jack swing, the internet and beepers

also 808s is the best ye album if you get rid of all the others

How can anyone hate this? He's just doing what we'd all do in his position.

what's up with all these rappers bragging nowadays and dating white women with big butts? back in the day when hip-hop was REAL nobody swaggered on their foes while disrespecting women, worshiping materialism or rhyming, i for one miss that golden era of some other genre

ugh, might as well just submit the rest of my enlightening post to pitchfork's op-ed before these elitist gaf-hop rapcars show up and wreck my thesis with science
Yo, I don't know much about your musical taste, but if you want to check some real hip hop listen to this guy.

HOPSIN - Ill Mind of Hopsin 5

Kentpaul will tell you it's real.

UGH see this kind've vapid response when you have such a platform for CHANGE is disgusting, this is why i only support college radio & local acts who keep it REAL and talk about things with meaning, like those 8 songs talib kweli did about giving birth in bathtubs you know? you'd never see a real artist like that doing songs with balla balla garbage like Gucci Mane because the latter's too busy pushing urban women out of moving limos

at least lupe hasn't sold out, and before anyone says anything yes i already read about sister act 3 but he said he's donating 50% of the profits directly to bono, let's see your favorite "rapper" do that

thanks! maybe you gaf-hoppers aren't so bad <3
for real though with co-signs like that i feel pretty safe namedropping this musician in my next blog before having to hear him

kanye has literally NEVER been humble.

Putting a 13 minute self-important autobiography at the end of your first album isn't exactly the humblest act around.

kanye has literally NEVER been humble.

for real, when was this? even his beats weren't humble in the day. and yeah i wish he'd talk about issues again, he never talks about stuff like emptiness, his extreme self-consciousness etc anymore, he's clearly too scared to touch the depths he once met with classics like new workout plan

This is a GOAT Kanye moment right here. Embodies everything about the dude in one swoop.

Damn, this is too real.

I just snapped my College Dropout CD in half listening to this. The true voice of our generation.

lotta cunts with less consistent discography/production track record tho

i wanna ask, but if that's a gambino avatar let's pretend i didn't
Diversity in discography doesn't change mediocrity

and I listen to more people than just gambino fyi. Gambino has a few pretty good tracks.

ye can be described as lotsa things, mediocrity i just don't see. even his lesser albums are still enjoyable...who in the last decade of hip-hop has nearly as solid a lineup? The Roots, Ghostface, another good one by Lamar and i'd put him here...wish i had more names offhand.

Kanye West doesn't like white people.

man white people aint like white people

I was kidding. He can be humble. Also, see new slaves and to an extent black skinhead?

I think his lesser albums are pure trash. Like MBDTF, 808's and Watch The Throne. He's been quite spotty to me for years.

But I don't really hate him for that. I respect that he goes out and does whatever the fuck he wants with every album. I may hate those records, but they weren't just cookie cutter billboard albums (well maybe some of WTT was..). He was exploring new sounds and I'm sure they worked for other people, just not me.

I actually think he's somewhat redeemed himself with Yeezus. I haven't been truly interested in Kanye as an artist since Late Registration, and was expecting to hate Yeezus, but it's a neat record.

As for who's had the best run of albums this past decade, it's clearly Blu.

Goddamnit I wish, Below the Heavens and Give Me My Flowes are so good =[

yeah, i'll defend WTT but never MBDTF

see at worst this was how i felt about 808s too

There's no true hip hop
That's just what dusty hip hop heads say cause they're too salty to come to terms with the genre evolving and spouting different sub genres

I guess you're right in a way. I dislike it, but like I said, it was something new for him. He rarely rests on his laurels or on the merits of his past work so I gotta give him props for that.

Didn't read all 10 pages but to me Kanye becomes annoying or unbearable because his proclamations about his music, his reactions to his own music, and desire to be called the greatest of all time just don't match the actual music he makes. I can only over look lyrics to a certain degree.

His production is always top notch and I love that he at least tries to introduce new concepts and sounds to the rap genre since 99% of the releases nowadays are very similar sounding. But his lyrical content (not necessarily the subject matter), his "off the field" antics, and personality make him annoying.

Meh. For a really popular artist, his music is actually pretty good (especially compared to other rappers of similar fame). That said, he really doesn't deserve the excessive acclaim received by the media, his fans, and - most importantly - himself.

I'm assuming our definitions of what constitutes decent let alone 'true hip hop' are quite different.

Lyrical content above all else, and it's not really what Kanye is about, same as Drake. They're not even rappers in my eyes being frank.

https://soundcloud.com/stonesthrow/jonwayne-passing-fancies

For example, Jonwayne makes 'true hip hop'.
I don't only listen to kanye
There is no such thing as true hip hop
That's like someone saying true rock

That's why I said we have different definitions.

Mine has come through the understanding that most (not all) hip hop produced within the current confines of the mainstream lack any heart and importantly the skeleton of hip hop being the appreciation of spoken word, poesy, lyrical play, whatever... are lost along with it.

Which is why I don't even consider them rappers.

Funny because that Guy you linked me to is incredibly bland
He has 0 charisma
Wasn't saying anything revolutionary either

Lol at people mentioning Lupe. He's a has been. He released two good albums then his head cracked and went loco. I wonder if he sleeps with his tin foil hat.

He's the worst kind of conceited
He thinks his raps go over people's heads
He has the gall to say lasers was the record labels idea and not his own little attempts to catch the spotlight
Kayne in Fast 7 confirmed!
It's Kanye, but some of my plaques, they still say Kayne

I like some of this songs, but he preaches one thing and does another. Don't shun the media when you love the attention.

I didn't say he was going to say anything revolutionary, which to be fair if that's the metric we're going to hold Kanye to then I'm sure we can put them on equal footing. Right? Heh. Same for charisma, but understandably this is something very subjective.

But it's obviously difficult to be objective with such things.

Including that other track I posted, I personally think Jowanye exhibits more quality than Kanye has ever shown himself to really be capable of, especially now more than ever. A quick excerpt from Yeezy's lastest contribution.

Maybe it's cause she into Leos
And I was into trios, plus all the trips to Rio
Couldn't have helped, it's gettin' cold
Better bring your ski clothes, peeking through the keyhole
The door locked by myself and I'm feelin' it right now
Cause it's the time when my heart got shot down
Blocka, blocka, blocka-blocka, blocka
Pour a little champagne, cranberry vodka
Feelin' lied to like parents never said you adopted
Your feelings like Zulu, then nothing is a Shaka
I hit her with Jamaican dick, I'm the new Shabba
She lookin' for her daddy, call me Big Poppa
On to the next saga
Focus on the future and let the crew knock her
Star Wars fur, yeah I'm rockin' Chewbacca
The one Chief Rocka, number one Chief Rocka

Revolutionary. Truly.
