Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

It's normal to lose a few - you'll forget who they were if Sakurai makes good choices.

I'm cool with those, too. Hopefully they also get rid of Sheik. Update Zelda and give her a better moveset instead.

I would be fine with that if they bring Impa in since I like Sheik's moveset.

Furthermore, we've already seen fast-falling and dash-dancing (both arguably more vital to the metagame than even wavedashing)

Where is dash-dancing pls. I really would like to know. All I've seen is increased air horizontal speed on Mario in the Mario vs. Mega Man match, which might imply that momentum is once again part of the game.

Also, how can anyone say Fox's Smash 4 design is an improvement over Brawl? It's the same fucking design practically down to the threads on his clothing. It's just more polygons and HD textures. That's not an improvement to the design--it's the exact same. Fox gets no love -_-

During the development of Sakurai's last Smash Bros. game, 2008's Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii, this is the type of insight we'd hear from the designer through the Super Smash Bros. Dojo website. Sakurai said we should expect to hear less from him during the development of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. The developer promises "daily visual updates" from his desk will be posted to Miiverse and on the game's official website.

"I'm not going to talk as much," he said.

Aww.

For the record, the hitstun values in Brawl are pretty darn close to the one's in melee

It's the fact that you can render hitstun completely irrelevant by cancelling it with dodges and shit that was the problem

Why would he get rid of lucas.

R.O.B is who you should be worried about.

Because they need to cut characters and Lucas was kind of a flavor-of-the-month character when Brawl came out. Not to mention he's never made an official appearance in any region other than Japan. I think his chances are pretty slim.

Would anyone actually worry about ROB?

I don't believe this. Have you ever tried to tech in Brawl and then notice that you just flip out of hitstun so there's no need to?

Lucas is the protaginist of mother 3

There are only two mother reps.

Robs whole existance can be easily turned into an assist trophy

BOOM BADAA BIP BAP. *lazers*

There is no justifiable reason to remove lucas.

I think Lucas being similar to Ness works in his favor. I'm pretty sure that him being a little easier to create than more original characters is at least half the reason he got into Brawl, and that might keep him in Smash Bros. even though he's kind of irrelevant now. But I do have to agree that he's probably a pretty low-priority character, unfortunately.

I think that freeing up a spot for a different Mother 3 character would be worth it.

Kumatora would be fun because while she would also do PSI like Ness, she'd be a lot more physical. Flint would be an especially good replacement, because he'd be a purely brute character.

If they do bring Lucas back, they better give him a voice actor that isn't incredibly irritating. I can handle Ness screaming PK Fire and PK Thunder over and over, but fighting against 1 or more Lucas saying the same thing constantly was like nails on chalkboard in Brawl.

Yeah there is

And your point? Or do I have to break Jiggly puff out again.

Nah.. I like lucas.

I'll be sad if ROB leaves, since he's part of the Retro Revival group.

I like rob, but rob should have been an assist in the first place. It makes a hell of a lot of sense in the context of what he was. He should have just came out helped you , and left. Robot Operating Buddyl

Lucas is from a dead franchise and a game that never made it outside Japan (officially). He's the Roy of Brawl in that regard, and we all know what happened to Roy. Heck, Roy's franchise is still going and that didn't save him.

I'm thinking Lucas, Lucario (although he might get Jigglypuff-esque amnesties due to his popularity), Wolf, Ike, Toon Link and Snake are in the most danger of being cut.

Even though Snake was my main in Brawl, I'd be okay if they cut everyone from that except for Wolf, personally.

*hand-holding Wolf intensifies*

I don't really want anyone to go (especially Lucario, my second fav behind Olimar) but all of them (sans Snake) have other characters to rep their respective series once they are gone, and I'm not sure how 3rd party characters are going to be handled through generation transitions. Sonic is a very special case in that regard.

I don't think the comparison is quite the same. Roy was an advertisement for his upcoming game, Lucas' game is a huge fan favorite and had several things like stages and a boss in Brawl. I do agree that it's not looking like the best thing for Lucas though. :( (Lucas and Marth main here!)

If we thought the removing character discussion was bad before.....

At this point, I'm fine with characters getting cut. Go crazy sakurai

Nintendo doesn't think Lucas has enough fans to even bring his game overseas. They're probably right.

Honestly, that interview has me feeling optimistic.

Sakurai doesn't actually say that he's cutting characters, just that he hates having to do it. He spends a lot of time designing and implementing a new character, fans play the character for years in Brawl, and then they look forward to seeing what that character will be like in the new game. He acknowledges that taking characters out upsets a lot of people. If he gets the time he needs, he's probably going to try as hard as he can to bring everyone back. There really aren't any completely expendable Brawl veterans (and that includes your least favorite character).

I don't know how anyone could even fathom to think Luigi's on the chopping block. He's popular enough to have a whole year of himself, even!

I really don't think we're going to be losing many, if any, characters after that interview. Might have to go tweak my roster prediction.

They're adding WW Ganondorf right

This is how I read it too. Certain characters that 'add the least' might be the lower priority, but he acknowledges that all characters have fans, and I suspect that if he has enough time, he will make sure they all return.

Yeah, I felt same. I'm concerned that he would spend too much time on returning characters that he might not able to focus on newcomers. We'll see. I would rather to see him focusing on newcomers first when they are done with their schedule then they can filling out rest of remained characters.

Also they just released Mii Plaza Update and 4 new mini games. I wonder if we will see anything from this trailer that they might use for Mii's Moveset?
