Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

In the Swedish PSN store on the Vita there are no new trailers available on upcoming games. Only for the launch games and a folder for E3 2012.
No Tearaway, Killzone, nothing.
Is it the same in other countries?
Have they completely forgotten trailers of upcoming games in the Vita Store?

Any word of a reboot of the PSN store on Vita? It's still awful to navigate...

Toto review:

LIMBO - this is game about waiting - your character moves as fast as paralised turtle zombie and you wait 2 bilions hours to travel from one boring platform puzzle to another.

For the hype it got it sure is rather boring game so far.
But the game is about taking in the atmosphere and progressing slowly.

It's overhyped, overrated and overpriced for sure, but playing it for free on vita it's not bad.
Remeber: never trust games that are too praised!

It is a game about atmosphere for the most part. It came out at a time when indie games like it are rare, but nowadays, Limbo is no longer unique anymore. I personally thought it was pretty boring when I first played it back in the day.

Eu store is soooooo fucking bad, it's not even funny anymore. eStore from Nintendo is miiiiiiles better :(
Too bad for a system who relies on downloads.

I am surprised that so many of you have issues navigating the PSN store. All I do is look at the recent tab once a week and I am fine. Sometimes I use the search function without a problem.

For sure not good as the other two, at least. Traversing the map was so tedious. I'll still buy the collection, though, at least to replay the first game, which is fantastic

The cynical part of me suspects Naughty Dog saw the success of GTA3, and Ratchet so they cloned the open world/gunplay focus for Jak 2.

Actually, I might have read an interview to Rubin in which he stated they took inspiration from GTA for Jak II. But I may remember wrong, so don't trust me.

In any case they took inspiration in a wrong way. You stay in mid air, other vehicles constantly get in your way; you stay near to the ground, obstacles slow you down, and if you hit people the police comes. I remember one mission in particular in which you had to reach the velodrome (or something) by traversing all the city... So frustrating. The desert in Jak III was much better.

No videos, no description of file-size, no images, bad descriptions of the games, No overview of discounted games, no overview of current balance, search is broken etc.

All I'm going to say is don't give up on Final Fantasy type-0.

I loved Limbo, but I think the Vita is a poor fit for it. Limbo is meant to be played in a dark room with good headphones, not on the go on a loud train or whatever.

You know, I am not sure what would be more of a waste, having the translation pretty much done on FF0 (at least that is what I heard) and not releasing it yet, or bothering to release it so far after the JP release. Now, if they release a FF0 "Plus" type deal for the Vita, that would be a good idea.

I loved it. I played it on my Vita, in a dark room, with headphones. I'd owned on PC since release and never got around to finishing it. I got it free on PS3, and never got around to playing it. I got it on Vita, and played it through in one sitting. That's why I don't take issue with ports, even if I already own them I usually haven't found time to play 'em. There's always time for a little Vita.

Any idea how big the Jak games might be? One download or three? Probably going digital for them if I can spare the room. Man though, if these run well they could be some of the best looking games on the system. Why would Jak 1 run so much worse though?

Magic '14 not coming to the system despite having an iPad port. ;___;

(Magic '13 didn't come either)

Uncarded is nice, but it isn't M:tG. :(

I enjoyed LIMBO probably because I went in expecting the usual pretentious and hollow indie game (I blame Bastion for that) and had to admit it had actually pretty good puzzles. But yeah, it was way overrated back in the days, especially when it was a XBLA exclusive.

When something is annouced on Gamescom then it will be 2014 release probably.

Hopefully, considering the Vita's release schedule leading into the holidays is kind of crazy. Ys, Tearaway, Muramasa, KZ: Merc, Batman, Rainbow Moon, Dragon's Crown, Valhalla Knights 3, Rayman Legends, Toukiden, Malicious Rebirth ... plus tons of indies and such. It's just crazy man, all of those on top of PS4, my wallet am cry.

Also, about Valhalla Knights 3, a former editor of EGM, James Mielke, had this to say about the game:

"Vita owners: I've been playing this game obsessively, non-stop for the last three weeks. If you like action RPGs, this is a great, great time. Massive customization, solid graphics and game mechanics, lots of depth. I've already pumped 70 hours into this one, and it's going strong."

I really trust his opinion as I've been following his work for years, so I'll be getting VK3.

Really surprised at the low outcry for Type 0 In Shahid's informal poll. Tales fans THAT more vocal? That's... really weird.

As much as I love your concept, the simple fact is that what Nintendo push as a full retail game, people would barely justify as a £10 downloadable game on PS3. Sad but true :/

I do wonder about this, but If Sony offered smaller "Nintendo Polish" games of high quality / replayability on the platform, I think they could manage.

I'm not against spinoffs using console assets, I just think you're crazy if you don't see ports of those games damaging sales.

Damage compared to what? To the lack of original titles now? Compared to where they'd be if those games were ONLY Vita exclusive forever, with no PS-anything else versions?

I could see a whiny vocal minority disliking the idea, but overall, I think there's be more "Vita offers console experience, here's a list of games that prove it!" proof, which could do nothing but help the system in the long run.

"Six years down the road, sales have started to slow on the once-hit series..."

is preferred to

"3 years in, no games have proven themselves, and Vita owners still await their chance to receive their blockbuster assortment of titles, to prove the systems place in the gaming ecosystem."

Type 0 and vc3 fall in the "localization" category too :P
Maybe the title has its part of fault but if you read the tweets after this

you will see that people stopped asking for type 0 because they assumed that type 0 was already done.

It could even be that native vita games are preferred to psp ports or some other reason, gaf(sadly?) does not represent the world.

Did someone tell him that Alundra is not a JRPG?

Wow, Zavvi finally shipped Legends of War. I was expecting to never get it as I had ordered it weeks ago and appare you they were trying to get stock.

Ok, after few hours with Jak 1, I hate it with passion, jumping sections are real pain in the ass, I keep falling constantly. Spotty framerate doesn't help, controls aren't sharp enough. Too bad, loved the game at first.

...so how likely is it that a new model of vita is coming? I'm getting a vita once the PS4 is out for remote play functions, but wondering if there have been any rumors of a new model coming out of sorts anytime soon...

If there isn't a new model announced at Gamescom then I'd suspect we won't be getting on this year.

Oh jesus why didn't I think of this before?!

Tom's been working on Gunpoint for years though... I don't think he's quite ready to port it somewhere else or give it up to a different studio to port.

He just wrote a post about hiring someone to help him port it GMS, maybe Vita wouldn't be too hard?

I’m looking for someone to port Gunpoint to Game Maker Studio on Windows, Mac and Linux

Still not sure whether I should buy J&D as I haven't played them :/

Fair enough, missing file-size and pictures in the description are really bad, haven't realized that. I only go there to buy stuff and am good informed because of this thread. I also frequent the webstore. Search works for me though.
