Fighting Games Weekly | June 17-23 | Nintendoes what Capcan't

It'll get over the "not on a console with draconian DRM" hurdle, but it's not exactly in the clear. I know the devs are fans of fighting games or whatever, but I will have to see it being an awesome fighting game to believe it.

Aww man you ruined it!

Happy b-day!

(If they really do this - and Klepek is kinda staking his reputation on it - they've almost fixed the console. Make Kinect optional next.)

The question is- will it get fighting games that the PS4 does given how the Xbone won't have hardly any Japanese presence?

I don't think what they did is enough yet- because of the other problems the Xbone has compared to the PS4. It's a good step, it means they have a chance, but they gotta give me a reason to buy the system instead of the PS4, and I don't see it.

If that rumor turns out to be true, then cool. Gamers win in the long run. Still not getting an Xbone though. It's like a girl wanting to get back with you after she broke up with you and broke all your games and shit. It's like, even if you're sorry for what you did and you replace my stuff, I ain't gonna be with you if you're crazy enough to pull that in the first place.

Revising/removing DRM policies does not change the biggest advantages the PS4 has up on the X1, which are developer relationships/openness and power. And going back on the DRM stuff they've gone in so hard on and "clarified" once already does not inspire confidence from a corporation that has proven itself reactionary and no longer a leader in the industry.

I talk about this all the time but when little details change it means a lot less to me as a consumer than when a company's philosophy changes like the 180 Sony has done.

Ultimately, if it is true, gamers should rejoice as this is a win for gaming, not just the X1. Now they only need to fear publisher's own DRM decisions, like current gen.

I'm actually sad because this means a more fractured FGC community. :-P

The Kinect is still there... watching. Forever watching.

And happy birthday. Thanks for keeping these threads up!

Play BBCP it's a good game. Oh wait no one stateside can unless they import or wait til probably February.
First time seeing Izayoi and she looked kinda fun in motion.

Indeed

It is just a matter of time before they Xbone us again and it actually works. They need to feel the burn for real so we know they will relent for good. Gamers need to shack up with a girl that won't go X-factor on their games even if only for this upcoming generation.

I liked Izayoi at first but she looks kind of complex. As much as I like complex characters I am really bad at them. So Jin forever ;_;

Maybe I'll break out of my cycle and grind Tsubaki until I'm actually competent. Until I come across the 10,000 Hazamas online after release. ;_;

;_;

Funny that they're going back on DRM but they still haven't really decided to release in Japan, right? That'll be a big issue for FGs too, heh.

Also, I don't know if you've been watching the stream tonight, but GC Yoshi totally slaughters FChamp's Magneto with Chris. I think you just aren't approaching that matchup right.
No I haven't been watching, and I realize that matchup is closer than I say it is. But it comes down to me being a worse player and also Yoshi using different assists. Like I said, any touch from Chris on Magneto is usually a ToD, the problem is getting that first hit. I know Fchamp has one of the best Mags in the business but it's not that he plays 100% all the time either (not to discredit GC Yoshi).
Doesn't Blaz Blu have that crazy sword draw character everybody was saying is like a cooler Vergil or was that another game?
No I think you're talking about Yuzuriha from Under Night in-Birth.

Does it still have a $100 video camera? Still have that famous Microsoft build quality? Still a part of PRISM?

I won't be getting any new system for a couple years at least.

PRISM is probably just a filtering capability in the NSA's greater surveillance program (I mean, think about what a prism does). Saying that PRISM spies on you is like saying some random middle manager's secretary is responsible for running the company.

Microsoft was the first company to be a part of the program. They have access to billions of metrics which they secretly shared without consent.

Whatever conclusions you've come to about it are different from mine, but don't pretend it's a small deal.

Oh well that makes it OK
Never said it was ok, just that the public is treating PRISM as some all seeing eye when in reality it's just a tiny, tiny component in the NSA's greater surveillance network which is still completely mysterious. Which is why some nobody like Snowden managed to gain access to PRISM.

They know I wake up SRK everytime I get knocked down.

There's a big leap in logic from Microsoft sharing metadata, which is just as invasive as the "anonymous data" that every online service collects about you anyways, to "ZOMG Kinect is recording pictures of you in your underwear and uploading it directly to Utah!"

Edit: this is all moot from my original point that you should stop referring to PRISM as some omniscient bogeyman instead of the cog in the machine that it is. PRISM doesn't collect information about you. Microsoft and the NSA collect information about you.

I'm starting to think you just like games with stupidly huge brain dead normals :lol
The only thing I like as much as puppet characters are hit and run characters with fullscreen confirms. Like that dude with the sticky hand in blaz blu.

But the reason I like that game better is because I can tell what the fuck is going on. Someone needs to stop making all this flashy UI crap. Make it clear, make it simple.

Hazma is the bane of my existence. The only character who I never really learned how to approach.

Fuck that guy

And here I was thinking about Johnny.
She's like a mix of wesker and uhh... idk? She changes stances in normal stance she builds meter, in offensive stance she spends meter and has enhanced specials.
I'll give her a try when I get Phantasma.

What... BBCP UI has the same amount as P4A how the heck are you getting confused o.O

There is
On Top
Life bar
Burst icon
Barrier bar

On Bottom
(unique character bar depending on the character not all characters have this)
Special meter.

That's it. BBCS has a guard primers which was removed from CP, even then that's not a hard thing to keep track of as it's near your barrier bar

You keep refuting an imaginary argument. The camera is a completely different issue.

I don't really care that you don't think it's an invasion of privacy. I know it is.
You're right.

Wow, that game looks a lot better than Blazblu or Skullgirls.
It seems like your kinda game. deliciously stupid

Because P4A is more clearly designed. Nice big BURST letters, nice little persona rectangles, nice little meter blocks with big-ol numbers for redundancy, solid stick of butter for life with no weird borders or crap. And no backgrounds full of random spinning mechanical shit.

The only known FG that will even be playable on XBone is KI and somehow I doubt Japan will be too interested in playing it.

Japan not getting the system means that FG developers will be less inclined to build the game from the ground up on the Xbone. That means it may be optimized for PS4 which then we'll have bitching issues with cross platform iterations like we do currently. It's a possibility that exists, especially for FGs that don't sell nearly as well overseas.

When I played a game of P4A I had no fucking idea where anything was but I knew if I hit AAAAAAA it'd do a combo for me. Little did I know it even combos into super! Oh joy

I'm sad that Microsoft went back on their policies. I was looking forward to console unification for fighting games everywhere.

I learned the hard way with Elizabeth that it keeps blowing meter if I keep hitting "A". "Where did all my meter go?"

I never really get a chance to show it because I only really play Marvel against people, but before it came out I was a puppet character specialist. I was beating people in BB casuals with Carl at EVO one time even though I'd never played the game before then and it felt pretty good.

I stick with Marvel because assists are baby's first puppet character and it has Wesker and Magneto, but it's not the same.

Idk man, that's a pretty clear ui to me. Almost the same thing actually.
