I wasn't paying too much attention since all I wanted was a silver axe and I wasted 100,000 bells trying to get one. I'm sure if you get hopping in and out you'd be able to get all of the pieces, or at least most of them.

From experience with a friend losing his save file due to SD card problems and subsequently trying to troubleshoot it: no.

Basically each time the game is booted up it seems to be modifying the save file (another forum mentioned the ID numbers), if you try and load anything other than the newest file the game will refuse and tell you to delete your data. Even if you've done absolutely nothing other than attempt to try and load your town and have it crash, that renders any backed up saves useless and only the current one will work.

The only way a save backup could be useful is if you back it up after every time you turn off the 3DS and then if you subsequently have a problem with the SD card before loading up AC you could restore it.

I just had an SD card corruption that made me lose my whole town last night. As long as you keep the newest save backed up, it should work. Now, if it alters every time the game boots (and not just when you make a new save) and you get a corruption before you save and backup, that might cause a major issue. The save system for New Leaf is all sorts of messed up. It has no wiggle room for potential technical hiccups.

So I've been hoarding axes for the day I got the QR machine (today, yay!) and I was finally able to lay down some paths connecting all buildings in my town.

I did the same thing, but not so extensively, and Rainbow Road isn't as nice to look at. Also, it's only one lane wide, except on roads crossing bridges, where they're two lanes wide.

Is the thought that chopping the middle = more bug spawns on the banana plants? I've chopped down 2 mid island trees and it's had little effect so far. Butterfly bush central...
