Fighting Games Weekly | June 17-23 | Nintendoes what Capcan't

Also works as "But Art said."

Dedicated servers for all games, better infrastructure, better servers in general, proper cross-game chat (unless PSN has this now and it isn't gimped), TruSkill, better web browser to service integration to name a few.
So you are trying to tell me XboxOne games wont be P2P... I'll believe it when I see it x.x/

Now that all this has been sorted out, MS will have a great head start over Sony to establish a bunch of consoles at majors and since it is the only next generation console with a fighter, TO’s are gonna start stocking on them early. Once the Capcom/Anime/3D/NRS titles start rolling out the TO’s are gonna find it more cost effective to stick with xbones for the future.

This is the same way evo got stuck with PS3 since Tekken DR was the first fighter for this gen.

Devs have the option. Could be a smoke & mirrors thing (esp. if there are restrictions that prevent devs from doing exactly what they want to do i.e. like they have to use TruSkill or certain other MS services) but it is what it is.

This is definitely something people aren't talking about enough, and I don't think folks will since the DRM thing won't completely go away since MS has tainted their brand. Means a lot for every competitive game out there, and I think it will make a difference to the CoD crowd.

Well, I'd like to watch NLBC but you know how it goes...

We might be assuming a bit much on KI3, like call_kotaku said, we don't know if it is a good fighter.

Hazma is the bane of my existence. The only character who I never really learned how to approach.

Fuck that guy
Hazama is awesome, He's one of the 4 characters in Blaz I'd like to play. But I always forget how his combos go even though I've done the challenges etc.
And here I was thinking about Johnny.
Haha well, Johnny is that cool sword drawing guy but GG is too old to be referred to as "Vergil". Speaking of GG I just got into it, so hit me up if you're up for some matches!

Go into poverty chat and let Art know you hate saltybets. He's there right now. We were trying to get him to get Spooky to ban saltybets. Art wasn't happy that saltybets is profiting off chat.

I have no idea what Spooky is talking about with all this Magic talk. But I do have a question:

How do organized Magic tournaments handle cards that are extremely expensive? I assume there has to be some rules in place so that everyone doesn't have to spend hundreds of dollars just to play, right?

Saltybets driving Bipson Bank to quit was depressing already.

#fucksaltybets

I can't believe that Bipson is gone man. Who could forget the bank crashing when PS3Taxi took it over Chris G? That moment would have been the instant I got in touch with him for something for streamers everywhere.

Lol no they don't. I haven't played magic in years, but they definitely don't.

I've only heard about special rules being used in Vintage or whatever they call it now where a top tier deck costs thousands of dollars. In some of those tournaments you were allowed to use a certain number of "proxy" cards to keep the cost down. In Standard the card prices are much more reasonable.

That's a game that I've been avoiding for almost 10 years (my best friends always played it like crazy), because I KNOW if I start to like it, I'll be living on the streets and start asking for changes on the traffic lights

And no, no rules, pay to win

We might be assuming a bit much on KI3, like call_kotaku said, we don't know if it is a good fighter.

Good fighter is always subjective :p. We’ll never know of it's a good game or not until months after release. Until then there will be pressure on tournament organizers to support the title. By then the TO’s have already invested in the console and will gravitate towards supporting it for the future titles to save money.

But again this is just my prediction.

I think TO's will wait until they see the reaction to KI, if they're already leaning towards PS4.

Until then, they can always just shuffle the crowd to other spots in the venue, where they won't be heard.

Did I just see Dante punish Task's QCF+S? I thought that shit was safe? The stabby move they added in Ultimate.

What kind of price ranges do you see for a top deck?

Top decks in Standard (the most popular format, which only allows cards printed in the last two years) can still cost a few hundred depending on the cards solely based on secondary market prices.

WOTC does acknowledge the existence of the secondary market and they do try to reprint highly sought-after cards, but
a) they tend to do this only for stuff after it rotates out of Standard and
b) they don't really do this in large quantities to avoid pissing off said secondary market resellers

They also sometimes host events in Limited formats, where you basically build a deck out of a fixed number of packs that you receive day of the tournament. That way everybody's on equal ground fiscally.

I'm sure those two xboxes will be plenty for the amount of people who will end up playing it at tournaments after two weeks. KI is certainly not going to be the title that puts any pressure on TO's to go full xbox. It would be MS sponsorship or next SF or Marvel running significantly better on it. Latter looks highly unlikely but MS might moneyhat evo like sony did this gen, so who knows.

I made the mistake of trying to learn the game using Carl back when I had some spare time. A shame cause I still kinda like the game.

It's easier for me to learn a game when I have a character like carl because I'm already so familiar with the mechanics of puppet characters. I get lost really easy when I'm trying to choose between normal characters.
