Outlast 11-Minute PS4 Gameplay Demo

I jumped in the library, that was awesome. I'm happy Sony is still gonna give us cool shit like this, I hope they really go hard with PS Plus during launch.

Whelp, videogames have finally done Blair Witch.

And that's not an insult, this looks fantastic.

Right? You could almost do a game without any weapons. This is a really neat revisit of this concept. I think it could open doors to some amazing experiences. If you keep it small with a handful of characters, you could do the whole... "gotta bring the bones of the girl back to the basement" shit.. or the other way around. Either way, very exciting concept. Will support these guys.

Im just so sick of FPS and third person adventure. This is the sort of immersion/gameplay dynamic I am looking forward to for gaming.

F.E.A.R really captured some creepy moments, I just wish a game like that existed on its own. Just the creepy shit. Love this.

Looks great and I can't wait to get it free on PS+. I'll probably end up buying it before that as long as it's good.

And honestly I see the name "Outlast" and think of "Outland" which did not excite me. I thought this was some remade Outland.

Well now that Microsoft isn't going to be the absolute non-entity that they were headed towards, it does put pressure on Sony to keep their foot on the accelerator.

I liked it, but I didn't like the character screaming and with that breath. Let it be the actual player that gets scared and have heavy breath, not some sound coming from the speakers..

the gameplay segment should have ended with the battery running out while he was in the vent, and as soon as he put in a new battery and turned it back on the monster was right in front of him.

It's the same demo from PAX East this year, but for PS4. I was initially interested in the game when it was announced, but after playing it at PAX, I prefer Daylight to this, as I think of Outlast game as more of an action survival horror game.

Looks very promising. I'm thinking whoever played the game was probably using keyboard/mouse, as the movements were too quick and precise to be that of a controller.

Wow at the ending.

I jumped and a couple of times yelled out, "No! Get away from me!" during the chase sequences. Enjoyed the tense moments and atmosphere to go along with it.

The only thing is that they seem to give you more than enough batteries for the camera. That may change at certain points in the game so really not much a big deal.

I'm sure it will look better come time of release.

Eh? It's incredibly stylised due to the handheld camera effect, it looks perfect from that point of view. Also it's an indie title, so the fact that you're even comparing it with a big-budget AAA title like Zombie U should be quite the compliment to the creator.

....

Bahahahahaha

The game looks great, but normally I can't stand games like this where you can't defend yourself. Typically games that force you to run away as your only means of defense usually consist of a lot of trial and error that annoys the hell out of me. I had that problem with Amnesia.

This looks fantastic, and was incredibly tense up to the point where the "monster" is revealed. I hope the final game has "winding down" segments that build up the tension again, and with different monsters and whatnot.

Overall, this was great!

i think this one, so far, is ahead of Daylight simply because the rooms in Daylight looked really boring because of being procedural generated. i also didn't get creeped out by the ghosts as much as i am getting creeped out by the bodies and monster in Outlast.

so designed levels + environment + scares + monster is what's convinced me to buy this. i'll probably get Daylight too, but mainly for a "hey guys lets take turns with this" type thing when people are over. did the same thing with Slender and it was good fun.

Looks neat, I am a HUGE fan of horror and have played fucking tonnes of the genre and I am looking forward to this. It doesn't look AS scary as some people here are making out but definitely good

I get the feeling GAF is full of wimps :P
