Super DBZ was a joke. If I want a serious fighter than Ill play Street Fighter. All I want in a DBZ game is DBZ like game play thats faithful to the source material and an epicly HUGE roster for fan service.
come at me bro lol
Wait... is this the actual gameplay? People in the video say it is?? What?! I'm so confused
Lyte Edge said:They made Gundam Breaker? I didn't know that...need to try it out now!
A 2D Capcom-developed Marvel Vs. style game with Dragonball characters would be perfect. I always wondered why this was never done.
I want a DBZ game to feature Goku's most powerful saiyan level, Super Saiyan God!

It's confirmed it appears on the scans.

I loved the rock, paper, scissor parts in Boudkai 3.
Gundam Breaker has that Beta that can be downloaded for free, so you can give it a whirl before buying the full version.
It's kinda like a wild combo of Gundam Musou, MonHun, Armor Core with a little bit of Gotcha Force's "toys fighting it out" vibe.
YepWhy no pics yet
Scans only?

Yeah, it sucks everytime. You get used to it. This is how every DragonBall Z game has been announced for ten or so years now. Some pictures of Goku and Vegeta fighting (typically in their Saiyan or Cell saga outfits) are released in V-Jump for the announcement, followed in the next month by an article in the next Shonen Jump and a website reveal that will have a single teaser trailer and show off an incomplete roster of entirely expected characters, slowly revealing them to us over the course of the year until release.
AmazingLooks like someone has never played or watched high level Super DBZ combat.

Too bad DBZ fans are either toddlers or too scared of inputs more complicated than R2 and Triangle. DragonBall's universe is extremely rich, and I think it's a shame that there haven't been almost any skill based fighters out of it.

lolno. get out of here with that garbage.
Can't we just get Budokai 4 with 1's story mode and 3's fighting system?
Hey, I been out the dbz game buying circuit for a while, but I wanted to ask,
Anyone know why after Budokai 3, the only great dbz game, they made that engine worse, then ported it for only psp games, and then threw it out all together? Cause, that shit was tight. I always hoped they take that mold, put in a much better single player, put some kinda damper on the warp abuse, and take that thing to EVO where it belonged, but nothing!
Eh I don't know.
Who thought this was a good name?
To play devil's advocate? It wasn't just their "fault".
SDBZ was a game that Funamizu and his crew made explicitly for "us", the more traditional fighting game fans. But did we support it in droves? No, we didn't. The majority passed it over just because of the DBZ association. All the while, it was as close to the "Capcom-style DBZ" game some wished for.
And that, to me, was the most tragic aspect. Of course the typical DBZ fan was going to pass it up because it didn't have 100+ characters, super move cutscenes, a re-telling of the story for the umpteenth time and the like. But we had an opportunity to prove that a more traditional DBZ fighter could have had an audience all of its own, and we blew it.
this is great!
I will be getting this on the Vita!
I'm pretty sure Dimps would've been blasted by the press for using a PS2 engine on PS3/360 with Burst Limit. The last time the Budokai engine was used was for Evolution on PSP, and Infinite World on PS2. If you're a fan of the Dimps games, I really suggest trying out the latter.
It's not a hard name to comprehend. It ties into Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, the newest theatrical Dragon Ball film that opened in Japan earlier this year and grossed just under $30 million while telling the audience that it isn't just an adaptation of the film, but an all-encompassing Z game.
I can't tell you how Super DBZ performed in the west, but it did well in Japan in the arcades, and on PS2. I truly felt like it was a game before its time, and had it come out in 2009 it would've done a lot better.

I do hope you're in Japan if you are =P
If it did do well, I wonder why Bamco never tapped Craft & Meister for an expansion/sequel while the iron was still hot.
Even if the game would go on to remain Japanese exclusive, it still would have been nice to see the game continued to be developed. After all, Zenkai's proving that a DB game can do well without even given a thought to a Western audience, apparently.
But again, I guess it's all I can do but keep hope that since Bamco's still got Craft&Meister on their payroll, maybe one day...

The game would never have done better because it was a piece of shit, a game with which no self respecting fan of dbz would touch. If you want a pure fighter you know your options. Dbz was also done as a pure fighter by banpresto in the arcade and those games failed.
While it's cool to want a pure fighting game with dbz characters, that would never be a true dbz game. Once the layout was made by DBZ legends for a fast action dbz style game....it was over. Thats what fans want and still are looking for, something that makes you feel like your in the show, controlling your favorite characters in a huge epic fight. Spike may not ahve perfected it yet but they are damn close in my eyes, and believe me....i'm a dbz dork.
Ever since Namco stole Dragon Ball Z from Atari (and killed them), no good Dragon Ball Z games have been released. Raging Blast, Ultimate Tenkaichi and that kinect game were all objectively subpar. I miss the great Budokai and Tenkaichi series. Burst Limit also showed a lot of promise. Thanks Namco, thanks a lot.
I know i will be destroyed for this, but dragon ball z(anime) fights are the worst ever! Let's be honest the only thing that matters it that anime is the power, no skill, tecnique, move or whatever.

Burst Limit is the best selling and reviewed DBZ game on PS3/360. Yet there's no sequel. Namco Bandai works in mysterious ways.
I worry about the roster size, though, because I think that this game will feature 35-40 characters at best and knowing the "fanbase" it will be probably a big thing in a DBZ game.

How was this not the first post?
Super Dragonball Z looks so glorious... how did I never play it...
I might be in the minority here, but I hated Super Dragon Ball Z. The fighting mechanics seemed really sloppy
I concur.
Other shonen manga like JoJo, HxH, and even Naruto (early stuff) all have much more of an interesting strategy aspect to the action, along with more interesting powers than just a different variation of energy beam/ball.
That's the big reason why I like JoJo so much and am excited for the game, the fights are clever, and the characters are diverse. DBZ seems simple in comparison.

2D or 3D fighter? If 3D then I don't think I'll be interested.
