Metal Gear Solid V (PS3/360/PS4/XBO/Maybe PC) - Extended 9 minute E3 trailer

Wow, not to get off-topic, but I was VERY confused as I opened up the page today! Crazy to see all these changes at once, but I seem to really like them!

Back on topic, has there been any major news, theories or interesting info over the past couple days?

David Hayter was listed on the IMDB page for Phantom Pain.

But it's IMDB, so....

If you guys like stuff like that, I implore you to watch this video:

This is what it's like to be a master at Snake Eater.

I've been playing this game annually since it came out. I played it three times last year in succession when I worked my way through the 3DS, Vita and PS3 versions. And I never, ever knew you could set fools on FIRE by using the suicide pill whilst holding a goddamn LIT TORCH. This is why MGS3 is the greatest game ever. Thanks for sharing.

was thinking back to the original fox engine reveal, "child" soldiers indeed and Big Bosses Horse.

I always got the weird impression that those shots show a "playable" kid. Just from the way the camera is positioned.

I'm thinking the game is divided into at least three acts. GZ in Central America, rescuing Kaz and starting up Diamond Dogs in Afghanistan, and a jungle like African area.

I think they used that demo because it doesn't look very Metal Gear at all. It's just a young kid exploring a jungle with a dog and horse. He doesn't even have any weapons or anything to hint at what type of genre the full game actually is. It threw people off the MG(S) trail, at least as much as it could with it being an engine made by Kojima's team.

haha thanks, I've been back since before e3. Picked up the ol' habits real quick...

my hype levels are dangerously high

Oh yeah! I was excited before the trailer, but I couldn't believe how well done the Red Band one was. Excellent, excellent work.

What about the hospital?

Seems to be the UK flag. Tuvalu and New Zealand also have the UK flag within their own flags.

I wish I could make out what the country on that map is.

Not to mention we do know that Master Miller, Major Zero, and Liquid Snake are all members or affiliates of the SAS at one point; not to mention Big Boss is referenced to be a SAS member in the original MSX Metal Gear booklet, but never said again since.

I wonder at what point Big Boss becomes known as Saladin. That's what Sniper Wolf knew him as when she was a child.

I think he was just called that because he was a legend, and will somehow do something to help liberate/protect Sniper Wolf's people in Afghanistan (possibly from the Russians or CIA-backed mujahideen )

Yeah he is obviously in Limassol, Cyprus at that time.

And Saladin was just a moniker given to him by the Kurd or Sniper Wolf in particular. Saladin is being considered a hero of the middle ages among that region. BB probably helped the Kurdish people or just Wolf out a great deal. Which should've happened around 1988-91, according to Wolf's Bio.

I agree! It'd be really awesome. A more far more sophisticated and deep version of PW's system

Extra skins would be cool too, like the costumes and facecamos from MGS4. I liked the concept of using different soldiers in Portable Ops and Peace Walker, so to see it properly utilized here with a variety of customizable characters would be pretty awesome.

Oh, that'd be awesome indeed. More customisation and stuff and soldiers don't have to wear balaclavas. Extra skins and even customisable stuff like the name and also more abilities for soldiers to set themselves apart from Snake.

I just noticed this. When Big Boss is zooming in at some of the guards posted out front of the camp, the two in the static position are in the same animation at almost the same time. Small things like that kind of annoy me.

They're practicing their mimicking act!

Yeah, I do agree with you. Seeing copied animations right in front of you is one of the most immersion-breaking things that can happen in a game, at least to me.

Yeah, perhaps an enhanced version of the customization from MGO2. It'd add a lot of replayability, IMO.

Same here. I'm hoping things like that become a thing of the past with the next generation of games/consoles.

Game ruined, better luck next time Kojima.

But really I hate you for pointing that out, can't unsee.

I think there's a half second delay between the two, to be fair :p
But it's bound to happen some times.

That's why I said almost the same time lol. Knowing how much thought and planning goes into these trailers, you'd think they wouldn't let something like repeated animations be shown like this. It's being nitpicky, I know, but it doesn't make it any less annoying :/

MGS2 has a bunch of crazy stuff as well! :)

I think they may be saluting the officer that is walking past them in some strange way. They both seen to touch their oppisite shoulder with their trigger hand.

Looked to me like they were stretching and/or clutching their left shoulders. I have no doubt that standing there in the Afghanistan heat is boring as shit.
