Metal Gear Solid V (PS3/360/PS4/XBO/Maybe PC) - Extended 9 minute E3 trailer

Question remains, are they the same person?

How's Kojima reputation in character changes from trailer to trailer? (It happens a lot in videogames, particulary during development, but I don't think it has happened to Kojima... coud be wrong)

IIRC, Big Boss's face changed in MGS3's trailers. His early model's face from 2003 looked more like Solid Snake's in MGS2, but modified in a way that looked... weird. His final face looked rounder and more natural.

Why is she so perfect?

My waifu for laifu...

Nope :D
I mean MGS1 whatever version, remove the online stuff from that MGS3 description and it explain exactly what i feel about MGS1
I think that every numbered MGS excels in something but the first one is the only one where i can't see something that isn't mediocre
MGS2 had the best themes
MGS3 had the best story
MGS4 have the finest gameplay

What does have MGS1?

For me, MGS1 had the best story, and the best characters. The story feels more grounded in reality. Foxhound is by far the best antagonist team of the whole serie. MGS1 is inferior to the others in gameplay, but only because it was designed to run on inferior hardware.

So? What say you? Change in art direction? or simply a Kojima stunt?

Different characters?
Same character different moments along the game?

Snake's face also changed a lot from the initial trailers in MGS4 to the final game.

The current Big Boss model in V probably just wasn't finished when they made the GDC trailer, so they essentially stuck a horn on the existing Ground Zeroes model.

Forget Big Boss what about this little chap.

If BB really kills the kids in the cage, I don't think we continue to play as him past that.

Maybe we'll play as a kid who lost friends/parents looking for revenge against Big Boss at some point in the game. To make us "feel" the cycle of revenge.

where did the horn come from?

was it the patriots?

was it...otacon?

This was probably cuz MGS3 started off using the same MGS2 engine with little to no modifications. There's a prototype demo I'm sure you've seen that has Pliskin running around a jungle area.

How come? Story or gameplay wise? I thought the story and gameplay were much better in PW (but the boss battles got tiresome after awhile). The recruiting system in Portable Ops sucked donkey dick. Having to drag each soldier to your truck every time was ridiculous.

How come...I prefer Portable Ops? I preferred it more as a Metal Gear game. Peace Walker falls more in line with a lot of bullet points that exasperated me about Guns of the Patriots. Portable Ops was a bit more scaled back across the board and although dragging those soldiers to the nearest truck did get old, I much preferred it to the quickly tiring humor of the Fulton balloon and Mother Base's menu/micro-managing.

My thoughts exactly. Shame this wasn't a new IP from KP. Hell, I would settle for 'set in the Metal Gear universe' starring little dude.

Big Boss smoking in E3 trailer reminds me of Clint Eastwood for some reason lol.

Why is his cigar electronic?

I don't think so. Big Boss = Tank chapter / Vengeful African Child = Planet chapter!

the horn is actually a totem and the actual game is young psycho mantis incepting into big boss's dreams which are also vr

and then he pulls out of the dream and he's all "heh heh i found out the thing" and then big boss in a coma turns around and says "OR DID YOU" and his pulls off his mask and it's decoy octopus and mantis is all "aw, son of a bitch"

"Big Boss in GDC trailer:
- he has no scar at all on his face
- his eyepatch only has 2 straps
- no ponytail
- smoking real cigars with his left hand"

I don't know if Kojima decided to go with another character model or the Big Boss we seen in the GDC trailer is further in the game where he receives treatment and looks better. I personally don't like the E3 model he looks fatter and less intimidating than the GDC model.

Not to mention different eye color.

So I'm confused. Shinkawa did concept art for all the characters, but they basically don't use his designs outside of established characters? Quiet is a complete scan of the actress, so she's obviously not an original design.

and then mantis walks away in a huff but octopus turns towards the camera and is all "shh, don't tell him, folks, but I'm not octopus either!" and he rips off another mask and it's gray fox and gray fox winks at the camera and there's an iris wipe

Well, after listening to the KP Alert! Podcasts, I think all characters, even the facial-captured ones, are born from Shinkawa's concepts. Dunno if all of them are used, though.

It's more than just the character's physical features. I'm sure Shinkawa designs the clothes and everything. Maybe even Quiet's "eyeshadow".

People creeping on her mo-cap actress in here are weird. Never seen a girl before?

How does posting public pictures of a model, a person whose sole purpose is to look physically attractive, constitute as "creeping"?

Careful now.

If anyone really derives "sole purpose as a human being in general where attractiveness is the only trait that matters" from that tidbit or something along those lines (which is what I assume you're insinuating), I don't know what to tell them lol

Random reaching, but if you're actually Grey Fox maybe Ocelot is the one who takes Miller's arm and leg. Maybe what's left of Grey Fox in MGS1 relishes taking Ocelot's arm in that game.

Maybe Keith Sutherland is just playing Gray Fox
And Hayter is still snake

It feels like a Kojima thing

1) Kojima hasn't done a character switcheroo in a decade and four games.

2) The Japanese VA for "Snake" is the same guy it's always been, which indicates that Kojima isn't planning a character switch but merely a recast.

3) Why would they waste a game on Gray Fox when there are so many loose ends to tie up with Big Boss's motivations and slide into villainy?

Most likely, the kid(s) is playable because you can recruit them into MSF/Diamond Dogs and use them on missions like in Peace Walker.

that would be a very interesting layer to the game. It would really solidify the horrors of child soldiers more than any cutscene could. I love Kojima's story telling, but I feel hes is strongest when conveying things through actions. I would very much like to see this.

Playing as a child soldier would be big. This game for the most parts seems to have less silliness than normal so I think it could be done tastefully. If you put it in a game juxtaposed to the fat guy on rollerskates or anything in MGS4, I might not have been so down.
