Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Do you guys think this Smash will be big enough to have big presence at EVO?

There's no way to really know until it's out. I don't think even Melee has had that big of a presence at EVO. (I only started watching EVO a few years back so I could be totally wrong) The only reason it's of any size this year is because of the community vote.

Jigglypuff. :)

Not sure why, but I was looking for the Jigglypuff song to respond to this and found this.

Man, this thread moves so fast!

That reminds me, how much stuff from Super Mario RPG does Square Enix own? I know they own Geno, since they were credited when Geno made that cameo appearance in Super Star Saga.

I think they own the music too. The S-E developed Fortune Street has the Mario RPG Mushroom Kingdom theme as the BGM for Peach's Castle. Again, their relationship has improved since the days of Brawl, I can see some Mario RPG/Sports Mix content being allowed in at the very least.

I played some Brawl last night for the first time in years. I really hope they flesh out the online with the new Smash. It takes so long to get a game going and then the netcode isn't great and there should be more variation in game types.
Nintendo's online has improved significantly since those days. People should forget about Brawl's online. Take a gander at MKWii to see how much they improved on the same system.

So you're saying basketball Cactuar has a chance?

Well I'm mostly talking about music and assets (assuming things like stickers are back). I'd say in order of likelihood of a n S-E character would go like this

Geno (due to cult popularity, I could see Sakurai try pulling for him for at least an Assist Trophy) > FF1 character from sports titles > FF/DQ Mascot character > Neku > Other DQ/FF character

But I think overall, the chances for a character (either playable or assist trophy) is still VERY slim.

I don't think Punch-Out will get more than one rep. K. Rool is possible and I'd love Pig Ganon.

I do think that the original Ganon (re: Big Blue Boar with the Trident) is due for a comeback. He ended up being the version that was in Zelda Battle Quest (Nintendo Land), he's the designated big bad of the Oracle games (which were re-released on the 3DS VC just a short time ago), and it's highly likely he'll be back in LBW for 3DS. This is the most attention Ganon has received in years, after so many years of being practically obscure for a decade and some change.

If any time was ripe to finally include the Notorious P.I.G. in Smash, it's now, I would think. And at the least, Original Ganon should be an entirely different beast from Ganondorf, playstyle-wise.

Bonus points if he gets a "Pink" outfit that could be a direct shout-out to M&L's "Midbus" character

I'M DIGGING THIS NEW LAYOUT OVERALL

I quickly embrace change due to my newfound cognitive adult maturity

If Cloud was in Mario Hoops 3v3, I'm pretty sure he'll be in Smash Bros just because I want him to be. Definitely

He already touched Nintendo system before but his chance is very small anyway.

Rewatching the SSB64 intro reminded me; that game's music was a lot more whimsical with the instrument selection, wasn't it? The whole thing feels a lot more cartoony, while Melee onward (including U/3DS) seem to opt for bombastic orchestral arrangements. Not saying either's bad, just kinda different!

The music in general seemed to just be using standard instruments and compositions, probably as a result of it being a fairly low budget experiment.

I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly but I wouldn't be that surprised if most of it was taken from other projects being worked on at the time, especially when some stages in Melee like Infinite Glacier and Rainbow Cruise were still pretty whimsical.

Smash Intros:

64: Magical. Fun. Perfection. Embodies the essence of smash and flows really well. Love the music too. SUPER... SMAAAASSSSSHHHHH BROOOOOTTTTTHHHEEERRSSS!

Melee: Pretty good. I like how it goes from low key fun to serious towards the end (and Goro getting killed by Captain Falcon was always a laugh). SUPER SMASH BROS... MELEE

Brawl: Ehhhhh... Kinda bad IMO. Some cool stuff, but it doesn't compare to the others. It was cool when Fox and the others were going in, but man, where the fuck is the announcer at the end?

Melee > 64 > Brawl

Brawl was lackluster especially you have awesome trailer from E3 2006 and it's not in the introduction.

Since Sakurai implied that there wouldn't be SSE and they would have some kind of trailer per character, I might be wrong. I sincerely hope that we will have unique introduction for SSB4.

I think this sums up my opinion on the intros perfectly, especially the fact there was no announcer shouting the title of the game at the end with Brawl. That was the best way to end those intros and got you even more hyped. Really hope it returns, maybe similar to the one shouted in the original. Doesn't have to have the system as part of the shout.

I want the equivalent of the Villager receiving his invitation & arriving into the fray. Then Megaman can just be him sitting on his couch eating pretzels and watching TV. He speeds off to the gym to get back in shape.

It's probably partially because of this. That trailer was so legendary it was like an auto-E3 Nintendo win with the Snake reveal. People seriously lost their sh*t that day.

Oh, I just had another thought. You know how Brawl used none of Wii's features? I can imagine Sakurai being the kind of person to have no 3d effects on the 3DS version if it slows the framerate. Very unlikely but still, it's not impossible.

Weren't smashes able to be done by flicking the wii remote?

I used nunchuck+remote since Brawl released since I never had a wavebird and I never knew I could just flick the thing around for Smashes. =|
