Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Oh

Well, shit. Sorry. My full apologies...

You know what that means..

kidding, obviously

Excited for this game, but I'm getting some weird vibes from Sakurai. Just the fact that he's mentioned both time constraints and system constraints (due to the 3DS), it makes it sound like there's a chance this could be rushed/held back by the 3DS version.

I'm pretty optimistic though, and I'm not super picky about my smash.

Miiverse is totally addicting for posting Smash stuff, it's mostly what I've spent the first few days of owning a Wii U on, a part of me kind of hopes drawing a ton of fan art for certain characters will somehow help their chances into getting into SSB4. Just wish I knew how some people were able to get that pixel-perfect shading down.

Also wow had no clue you were deaf Intelliheath; it really doesn't show in your posts as much as you think it does (especially in comparison to other recent poster's grammar hiccups :V). Was born deaf too but had an operation when I was around 4 years old (too young to really start learning sign language beyond a few key phrases), so I can't even begin to imagine how playing games without all those audio cues and soundtracks would be.

I'm really expecting the 3ds version to get released up to 6-8 months after the wii u version. It would would probably be best for both versions to focus on completing one of the versions first. It also probably be best to release the wii u version a good bit in advance of the 3ds version.

Sakurai has cried about dying from character selection stress, time and system restraints, so I'm at the point where I might go from worrying about this game a lot to just assuming he's kind of being over dramatic and self conscious and it's actually going to be way bigger and better than anyone expects. He made Uprising, he can do practically anything on the 3DS. I trust the man.

Modesty is endearing I guess. He still needs to be bullied into doing an Uprising sequel...

I wonder if they'll ever come up with a title instead of just Smash U. Pretty disappointing as is IMO.

Super Smash Bros. 4
Super Smash Bros. Squabble
Super Smash Bros. Altercation
Super Smash Bros. Sequel to Fighting Game
Super Smash Bros. Smash Harder
Super Smash Bros. Working Online Edition
Super Smash Bros. Combattle
Super Smash Bros. Mascot War
Super Smash Bros. 4 U
Super Smash Bros. Quibble
Super Smash Bros. Survival of the Smashest
Super Smash Bros. No Gamecube Controller Edition
Super Smash Bros. Double Wavedash
Super Smash Bros. We Will Settle Our Differences with Fisticuffs
Super Smash Bros. Tropical Freeze
Super Smash Bros. Dispute
Super Smash Bros. Actual All-Stars
Super Smash Bros. Turtles in Time
Super Smash Bros. Jason Takes Manhattan
Super Smash Bros. High Definition Visuals
Super Smash Bros. Working Title

I think we're gonna need a bigger boat.

It's called Super Smash Bros. for, and there are two versions: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Super Smash Bros. for is a game for said platforms. Get it?
Super Smash Bros. 4.

I get it, but why not just call the damn thing SSB4, then? Super Smash Bros 4: Wii U and Super Smash Bros. 4: 3DS carry the exact same spoken pun, but when you collectively talk or write about them, you can call them SSB4, not the super awkward SSBfor.

Sakurai better use the Marth design from Heroes of Light and Shadow and not his terrible Awakening redesign... It doesn't even need to be from Heroes of Light and Shadow just as long as it isn't the atrocious Awakening look. Bleh.

Your hype will inflate when it hits in 2015.

I will not tolerate that again. Never. I practically died waiting for Brawl.

Which was made worse by the fact that my Wii was one of the many that couldn't read Dual-Layer discs despite being new, and I had to wait over a week to play my copy.

Because four is an unlucky number in Japan. For is just a word.

Does the 'four/for' pun even work in Japanese, though? If I'm remembering my primary school Japanese correctly, 'four' is 'shi', and I'm sure they have a different word for 'for', anyway.

They use the English "for". It's Dairantou Smash Brothers for Wii U on the website.

Indeed the pun doesn't work, I'd go so far as to say that the pun was probably never intended for the English release, it just kind of works that way. That said, if it was any other company, I'd say these were just preliminary titles... but it's Nintendo, and they have a nack for bad naming.

Nintendo isn't THAT bad with names.
Square Enix on the other hand...

Yeah, I don't think that the pun was intended, but it's still kinda fun. It seems that people haven't picked up on it though, if Google results are any indication. This is the only (easily located) instance of the game being referred to as Super Smash Bros. For, and SSBF usually directs to Super Smash Bros. Flash. :P

I want to see a horde of Freakyforms flailing around and generally looking awkward as a character.

That'd be a sweet stage for the 3ds. It'd be nice if he could pull from your streetpass data or something, or let you import your creatures. Same with your villager from AC.
