You say that, but from a European standpoint, Monolith-on-Nintendo has seen *much* more localisation than Monolith-off-Nintendo. It's just the US that's a bit screwy in that regard.

But still thinking about the past? Why just don't look at how Nintendo is hyping X worldwide?

Man this is terrible news. Atlus is pretty much the only Japanese game company I give a crap about. So yeah the chance that I might never see Persona 5 has ruined my day. Hopefully someone picks them up if worse comes to worst and hopefully the game will get a Ps3, Ps4, or PC release. All i need is it to be on just one of those and I will be happy.

Wasnt Dante in SMT tho?

Yep, Nocturne. And it was great, my mind was blown.

that's a fairly good point. they also had japan studio work on demon's souls and bleach, and third parties had to bring them to the west in both cases.
Yeah that's true, it seems Sony knows that they have Japan in the pocket when it comes to consoles, the XB1 will be nonexistent over there, and the wiiU.. yeah..
they want to expand in the west, they have their own Japan studio and it seems that they are completely fine with that which is a shame.

It would kill me.

As far as fanservice goes they've already jumped the shark...

Nintendo buying Atlus I think would be more detrimental to Atlus than beneficial. If their games aren't making money now, I do not see how Wii U in it;s current state will help the situation. I just think their games need to be available to as many people as possible at this point.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.
Atlus has a dedicates fanbase but its not big enough to save any system in terms of sales. Hell I can't think of any company that could grab them and still accept the lower numbers they sell in the west. Which aren't bad but nothing compared to the Million + or bust mentality most publishers have.

IF some other companies are to support then Bamco or Kadokawa would go for it IMO.
The business around Atlus franchise is big outside of gaming also (or is it bigger than gaming already? I donno).

What makes you say that?

I'd actually be OK with Namco. They're getting better with Tales and they even pushed Ninokuni and are handling the Dark Souls series right now, so are as far as JRPGs go they're OK.
I kinda feel that they would focus on the wrong aspects of the series, have a crazy amount of costume DLC, and pump out the games too fast.I could be wrong but that's honestly how I see the company.

I'm sure they don't have a problem making money on their games and you have to consider that they would be developing for the 3DS as well.

As I see it Nintendo buying Atlus would mainly benefit Nintendo. They need games afterall.

Short term, Atlus would at least benefit from having money to do their games. Could see a bump in their production values.

But would they bother signing that check with them bleeding money lately?

i'll do it. i just got cash back at ralphs today.

okay so persona 5 is about john persona: an honest cop with nothing left to lose.

Except for the first (third-person shooter, naturally) level you're controlling James Dough, his ex-partner, one week away from retirement.

Just because part of the company would be laid off does not mean the IP's and the dev's are not attractive. I am just trying to figure out why the American part of the company is the only thing being talked about.

i was discussing it because it's something no one would think about. this is a division that can be seen as redundant or a benefit to certain companies, and might affect who is interested in atlus as a whole.

On the very unlikely chance that Nintendo bought them, Nintendo would have access to people who understand how to market niche games. Imagine Atlus USA being expanded and handling games like X and Bayonetta 2.

I didnt say they were? But nintendo owns the Golden Sun IP and didnt bother funding a new game for eons. If people are happy waiting 8 years for a new game fair enough

There was no new Golden Sun because Camelot wanted to make a Golf MMO for the PC. The plan failed and when they came back to Nintendo they made a new Golden Sun. That's pretty straight forward.

Of course, after Golden Sun 3 being all kinds of terrible we probably won't see a new one for a long time or ever.

at least they didn't do something stupid and end it on a cliffhanger.

Nintendo isn't just the Wii U, and Atlus titles appear to be doing pretty okay on 3DS.

I'm not even sure golden sun 1 and 2 were good anymore after dark dawn ;__;

ugh, all the Sony and Nintendo talk is boring.

They won't bite. We'll see someone else stepping up. Just not Square-Enix.

If Nintendo would step in... eh, that would be one fune GAF thread.

I vote for Level 5 or imageepoch buying them out.
