Metal Gear Solid V (PS3/360/PS4/XBO/Maybe PC) - Extended 9 minute E3 trailer

What does fiscal/financial year mean? This guy in a Machinima interview stated that the game will be out next fiscal year. So, I wonder when that would be.

If you want to, try going Save at start of Plant and then do the bombs for Strut C, B, A, F (get the suppressor for the cameras in Strut E) and then save.

Then your next segment would be Strut E or DE Connecting Bridge to Fatman since Struts E and D are the hardest)

Obviously this means you have to remove a save and my honest recommendation would be the post-Harrier save.

The 4 or 5 guards after the Harrier are in weird positions but once you get past them Shell 2 is virtually empty and Vamp 1 is an EXTREME pushover (tons of ways to cheese the fight even if you're going for no-kill)

I'll give this a shot. Gonna wait till the legacy collection hits though. I have the HD collection on 360. By the time I got to purchasing it, I could only find a Collector's Edition on 360.=/

Plus, I'm still all over The Last of Us right now.

Well based on the interview from Machinima the country manager for Brazil Anibal Vera stated that MGSV will be released in next year fiscal year. I do not know how much validity are in his words, he could be a higher up in the company who knows when Konami has a deadline for the game. But at the same time I think Kojima is the one who will determine when he finishes the game and releases it.

After some researched Konami's fiscal year just ended March 31 2013. The interview is from E3 so we are already in 2013-2014 fiscal year and he stated they expect release by next year's fiscal year so that means from April 2014 to March 2015. We will probably get MGSV Summer 2014 if we are lucky. I hope I am wrong and the manager is wrong because that is along wait my hype is dwindling.

Summer would be awesome, but just like Destiny, I think Fall is the most probable.

Shame because next Fall will probably be packed with other stuff too.

That's it! That's the stance!

Bravo.

i'm mostly against remakes for the most part, but i wouldn't object to remakes of MG 1 and 2. their canon has been slowly eroded over time, MG1 is pretty archaic now (although MG2 is still pretty tight) and they're pretty loose on story. It could be alright actually as long as there arnt any silly retcons, like Dr. Kio Mar actually being otacon's dad or something silly.

I dearly hope the entire game isn't brown. Deserts are the worst gaming locale.Brown emptiness. Brown sucks. Brown brown brown. It scalds the eyes. Brown should die and be buried with last gen.

Bought Red Dead Redemption day one and haven't finished because it was like playing on a giant sunbleached cowpie. Just brown emptiness.

A giant sunbleached cowpie.

And this MGS5 trailer showed so much brown :( Afghanistan and Africa they say. Not much promise. Deserts suck. They're doing it because rocks are simple geometry and it saves the hardware. At least add a rainbow rock somewhere.

I just got a new iPhone 5 and what I was lacking was a good 'text received' tone. So I took the awesome "duuuun dun dun duuun" (lawl) sound effect from the GZ trailer and hospital gameplay videos. I've been using it for a few days and it sounds great. I've included two versions each in both .m4r (iPhone ringtone file) and .mp3.

Here's the link for the download if you guys are interested. Use 7zip or winrar to unpack.

Let me know what you guys think.

I really think there's more to this than what we're seeing, but I don't think the ponytail has any real relevance to just exactly what is going on with Snake. I could definitely be wrong though.

Either way, we inch ever so closely to more info!

------

Also, to talk about the color of it. I remember thinking just how iconic those shades of blue found throughout MGS 1 and MGS 2 Tanker are. They really set the mood very well for those games looking back at them.

It's very much Metal Gear Lite. Toned down gameplay, greater focus on short missions, etc. Not everyone's gonna like it. And that's not even mentioning the pretty mediocre story.

Anyway, I really hope they announce a PC version of MGSV to launch concurrently with the other ones. Saving up for a gaming PC, don't want to buy a PS4 until a price drop and a large influx of games.

Well, I thought it had a great small-scale story with solid characters for the most part, but I get where people are coming from. It really is Metal-Gear Lite, especially with the gameplay stuff. It really feels like an experimental game.

Yeah, that'd be nice. I'd buy a powerful PC just to play this game.

Yeah, there were some elements I hope they carry over to V, such as the base upgrading, soldier recruiting and R&D stuff. I remember thinking about the Outer Ops stuff, and how cool it'd be to actually go on missions in different areas with certain soldiers to complete objectives that would make life easier for you. Kinda like Freedom Fighters, stuff like blowing up a heliport to get rid of helicopter gunships appearing whenever you trip an alarm, or destroying bridges so that reinforcements can't be called in to certain areas.

It's funny, though, how a fucking PSP game had animations that put the ones in MGS4 to shame. Finally, they put in a transitional animation when crouching!

Yeah, all that stuff would be great if it gets expanded greatly for the next game. What you described sounds awesome and injects more playability into the game.

So, MGS4 didn't have transitional animation when crouching?! That's pretty crazy lol.

Nope, it was exactly like in 1-3, you press X, Snake almost instantaneously goes into the crouch animation. A lot of the animations were recycled from the previous games, which sucked, because the animations that were actually brand new looked fantastic, like the roll to the side. But at least V looks like a gigantic step forward in that regard.

I really enjoy PW's lite-story after the cluster fuck of MGS4. It's sort of refreshing. It's breezy and still has something to say. A lot of the REALLY great stuff is in the audio tapes however. Particularly Paz and Dr. Strangelove. There is some mighty good stuff in those. Paz has one that depicts a scene that is very un-metal gear:
the soccor game
.

I don't disagree with anyone the mission structure though. The game is Boss fights > sneaking missions. I prefer sneaking to boss fights. The sneaking missions get fewer and farther between as the game goes on. Plus the better gear you get, you can just breeze through the stealth missions.

As soon as you get the sneaking suit, the normal sneaking missions become a joke, lol. The enemies are already dumb enough without it.

I loved Peace Walker, but I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned already, Peace Walker bosses were way too advanced compared to MGS1. IMO, if Solid Snake is to be considered better or equal to Big Boss, he's going to need every ridiculous stunt in the book to make it look that way. When I saw the Chrysalis I completely disregarded any type of story in the series. Although I should mention I just beat PW a couple months ago.

The technology progression has bothered me more and more as the series continues. I just sort of...overlook it.

It bothers me, because during the MGS1-3 days (IRL: 1998-2004) the existence of a mech/metal gear felt like a BIG DEAL. I always assumed after the Shagohod, it took till 1995 to create a Metal Gear (Hence, "Destroy... the final weapon..... METAL GEAR"). Portable Ops had the flying thing. Then Peace Walker has mechs all over the place and Peace Walker/ZEKE. Basically, Metal Gear-esque mechs are all over the place and completely common in the Metal Gear alternate history.

That's why they really need to remake MG1 and 2. As you guys said, Metal Gear was meant to be a big deal back then. Now, you've got Miller saying they've found a weapon to surpass it at the end of the extended trailer. They need to dial it back a bit.

Even if the project went to MercuryStream, (expanding their teams.. seriously, they need more jobs in Spain) - could they even realistically replicate the final battle between SS and BB? The build up has been so strong for both of these characters.

Seriously. BB stole our hearts with MGS3. We were lost after that. But we all remember MGS1. That feeling will never go away(FUCK YOU TWIN SNAKES)!

Nah. Kojima would need to do the build up himself. What if the theme of MG1 and MG2 is that you see the story from both BB and SS perspective?

Think about it. Both are equal central characters that converge. Both have their own trilogies(if you will) sharing this SAGA.

It would be new ground for Kojima, and a new way to approach the plot. Because, at the end of the day, who is right? We know what this leads up too, but at this point who is morally right and who is morally wrong?

We know why BB went down this path. We know that SS will become a legend after MG2 and become a drunk in Alaska. There is something profound in their clash. It simply can't be outsourced. It needs to be a retelling, by Kojima himself.

MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3 he can outsource in Fox Engine!

I'm still really curious about what role that dog might play.

Hope he makes it into the actual game, lots of potential there. Like if Snake can give him specific commands in real-time. Or maybe the player could even control the dog itself to scout ahead and retrieve items (like with MG mk.II in MGS4)

Battlefield dogs are the next big thing!

I thought it looks similar if not the same to the dogs in the GZ opening.

yup. look at where he gets up while turning around at 0:25. O_o

What if we take some dogs from Camp Omega and then someone at MSF trains them to be loyal to us? But then if that's a Rhodesian Ridgeback then I guess you gather some in Africa. It'll be cool to choose companions in at least some of your missions, such as a dog, Ocelot, another MSF soldier, etc.
