3DS Streetpass Experiences

No idea.
I was at one of Nintendo's Best BUy E3 events and brought my mom's 3DS XL with me to get her some tags.
She got 8 tags and I only got 1, but still got tag stuff for games.
Sucks 'cause I saw the other guys getting my Mii in their plaza. :(

i feel you bro.gif

my 3DS XL just gets less tags every time :/

beginning to wonder if it's the casing.

btw is it true that you can change the SSID of your router to get to Nintendo Zones?

I got the Reggie mii. But i didnt get him at the gate, so i missed his puzzle piece and help on find mii.

I just opened Streetpass and he was already in line with the others.

Damn.... i need some special puzzle pieces.....

anyone can explain why this happens?

I brought my 3DS XL and my brother's 3DS out (both tucked in my backpack)
Brother's 3DS (more often than not) collects more Streetpasses than me.

I've encountered the same situation while I was on the go with a friend. Both of us had our 3DS with us and he somehow got more StreetPasses than me. I suppose that if two 3DS communicate with each other while passing by they are blocked for the time of this happening. First come, first serves.

StreetPass can be finicky for seemingly random unknown reason sometimes. I've seen a lot of odd things going on having hosted a local MeetUp group for over a year now. In most cases, you just have to accept that your 3DS will be a diva from time to time.

At high volume events, mine seems to grab tags with much greater frequncey while actually loading Miis in the Plaza Gate.

If there's another redesign (haha, "if"), I kind of hope that the wireless range is boosted.

Nintendo Life wrote up impressions on the games here.

Also reading the comments StreetPass Battle enemy strength is scaled, based on how many Miis you have in the plaza. Everyone agrees that the troop yield from play coins is absolutely pathetic though.

What gets me is if there are 99 new hats but you can only get 22 exchange coupons is it impossible to complete or is it once again a case of play through the games x times.

In Germany, the coupons (Gutschein) are called "Hutschein". (Hut = Hat) Which is pretty clever. Also the names of the games are translated and more interesting than the generic english ones.

I'm glad I bought all the games I'd rank them: Ghost House, Shooter, Gardening, Battles. I always use nearly all the playcoins for the Ghost House since having a large selection of tiles is an advantage. Haven't streetpassed someone who has the games though. Mostly display Units from Game stores recently ;)

It's 22 coupons per game so you can get 88 total. Assuming that 99 number is correct (I heard 88 before which fits with the game achievements) then I assume there will be ones given for progress through the games themselves and not through the ticket exchange.

After beating StreetPass Squad, the number of coupons I'm getting drastically dropped. Lol. Can't even redeem all the daily hats now.

Btw has anyone defeated the boss on 5F in StreetPass Mansion? I'm doing only 1 damage to it per shot. :(

Well, this just happened. On my second 3DS, five of those Special Miis distributed throughout E3 suddenly appeared. No idea what caused this, but the country on the 3DS was set to Brazil, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Japanese strategy wiki. Of course without knowing Japanese it can be hard to follow and machine translations are well...:

(I'm on floor 3 and you probably already know this) When I picked up a weapon with
charge shot abilities I did get some text mentioning that these could do damage where other weapons failed

There are 5 which need no coins; 8bit Mario and the 4 you get for buying the games.

Shounds like Chopper has some formatting to do :P
I would test it, but I already got all the puzzles pieces for America.

LOL. Btw thanks for sharing that site. Could be useful with StreetPass Garden which is where I'm struggling the most especially the jobs part. Playing on a JP 3DS here as well.

I can't really tell what kind of abilities my weapons have but I have several with different icons on them. Will have to test them all next time.

IIRC, I got a free hat when I finished StreetPass Squad. Could be the same for the rest of the games.

damn you, light blue shield in find mii! i waste so many mii's just because none of them are wearing a t-shirt with that color :-/

Get through Find Mii 1 and you won't have to deal with this shit anymore. :p

In Find Mii 2 you can hire Miis you've previously StreetPassed so whenever you need a specific colour shirt they are readily available.

The update added that to Find Mii 1 as well. I don't know if that's only if you've already completed it once before or not though.

I'm sad about seeing days pass where I can't buy all the hats. I've got the Rhythm Heaven Fever monkey hat though. You go big guy!

I've had this happen but always assumed that maybe their queue was just filled up for the Plaza? I think you're right, though... I'm sure there are a decent amount of people who have never even opened the app.
This is why I made sure to tell my friend to open it straightaway when I was guiding his through setting up his 3DS HA HA.

Still annoying when you reach such a room and you have to watch all your Miis just go to waste. And Quest II has these rooms one after the other,

I'm curious why did it take Nintendo of America long time to implement new games for Mii Plaza.

Seriously, I felt that American is bottom of the totem pole for Nintendo nowadays.

You are not alone... I can't believe they are so bad at keeping pace with europe and japan. It's disgraceful if you're a Nintendo fan in the USA. And I still haven't fully forgiven them for the Xenoblade and other Project Rainfall games fiasco. I might consider it if they put it on Wii U virtual console though.

A quick tip:
With StreetPass Mansion you don't have to place down pieces after seeing them (you can press B). This means you can better plan placement by checking all the pieces you have and working out the best order. I didn't check if you could quit with Miis outstanding though (as that would help avoid placing colours you don't want, though unlocking more floors would help as it gives you more space to use).

I've completed StreetPass Quest once and I don't get the option so I guess it is only there if you've started the StreetPass Quest 2.

As for days with hats (outfits) and not coupons to buy them. That is why I'm saving my coupons up for hats I want as I know I realistically can't get all the coupons.

I realized this too late as I bought all the hats available for the first few days (got 29 now with the Captain Olimar hat being the latest). Now I just pick the ones I like. Sad that I missed the Mario and Luigi outfits. :<

Maybe there was some kind of log-jam in my plaza. After 4 days of nothing, I have 6 Miis waiting now.

Easily the busiest day I have ever seen.

Does anyone know where the last treasure is in stage 3-1 of Streetpass Squad? (It's the one in a theme park where you have to use the plasma whip to kill the ghosts and reach through walls for gems.)
I've been through that stage like 20 times and it's driving me crazy.

In Disney World this week, and I get bout 10 a day. My wife gets way more... We think it has to do with the ds carrying cases, as they sit in the same backpack. Who knows...

Wish I had the new street pass games!

Man I had 6 passes today. If I'm out and about like I was it is normally half that or less. I also chose to do the horrible thing of taking a pink piece instead of starting one of my missing puzzles (a later Mii in the queue had started Skyward Sword so I'm left with Xenoblade and Dillon 2 to start).

I'm thinking, will puzzle swap start to stagnate a little with the new games existing as a much funner way to spend play coins. Then agian maybe not as none of the 6 I had passed had the new games and only I think two of them had the newest batch of puzzles.

Also, I've found my new outfit. The lion head. For those who have not seen it (description)
Just imagine Bowser if his lower Jaw was missing and then a realistic lion instead of Bowser
. If that description failed here it is in video form actually

Edit: The Streetpass battle tickets some of them are evil. They are basically the equivalent of online multiplayer achievements. 1 Million troops is bad enough (I can forgive it as an unintended Konami E3 reference) but Battle monarchs from afar 300 times combined with Offer kind greetings to monarchs 100 times so that is basically 400 streetpasses that own the game right there. Not going to happen.

Also some folkes are saying a better way to get gold chests in StreetPass mansion is to make lots of chests in a single placement. One way of doing that being outlining an area then fill the center in.

Does anyone know where the last treasure is in stage 3-1 of Streetpass Squad?
The Japanese strategy wiki I think is saying something about
defeating both bosses simultaneously
. Get a second opinion on the translation though (I used Bing there as google made no sense).

I think this is my hat unless another good one comes up.

Some of the new Nintendo hats are really good, I got a pretty great Tom Nook one today. I'm holding out for something Xenoblade related since they added a puzzle for it out of nowhere and other non-3DS games that had puzzles like Rhythm Heaven got a hat in this update.

Thanks for the heads up. One of the tips I got when dying in that level was something about killing multiple enemies at once to get treasure so that's probably it. I'll give it a go next time I get some streetpasses.

The new games have definitely altered my usage of streetpass.

If I look in notifications and see that I have three tags, I'll leave it until later when I know I have 30 minutes to devote to it.

Its interesting how the games have a balance between those where you want to fill the queue (Squad, Mansion) and ones where its okay (maybe preferable) to go ahead with one or two (Battle, Garden). I guess Quest and Puzzle swap were a similar balance.

Another mansion tip. So have a big piece in a colour you don't want to place. It seems you can get rid of it by going to a floor that can't fit it and keep summoning that Mii or wanderer. They'll leave the queue after the second time.

Typically I accidentally find that out on a piece I wanted to place today and not yesterday when I had to place a piece poorly to finish the report.

The GAME 3DS I passed today had Postman Pat as its last-played game. lol

An regarding Mansion, should I go up the stairs as soon as I find them, or clear the floor?

I don't really know the right answer to the stairs but as you probably know you are free to visit any floor you've been to and clearing a floor gives you a health refill and a few extra HP plus the next floor might have good placements.

So I guess it is situational. If you need the healing then heading to the stairs is a must but I'm unusre if that means being high in health is a wasted heal.

I've yet to fully clear a floor so don't know if there is a reward (I know there is a ticket first time) but I'd imagine as you get higher the equipment is less appealing (but could always be made into 50 gems).

It has taken me ages to find the stairs on the very first level, so I might as well try and fill the map up. I might even get a ticket for it.

There are lots of benefits of filling a floor. If the tiles have different colours, you get to fight lots of enemies to level up your weapon, and gain gems. If the tiles are the same colour, you get treasure chest galore! bronze, silver and gold too I think. Some of these chests will have plaza coupons.

I have 3 3ds and have their miis the same colour, so I can get my fill of treasure chests.

btw:
what's up with those "puzzlechests"? I've read about them all the times but haven't seen one of them for now.
When you streetpass people and then make a room the Miis can show up in the room (I'm not sure if it always or chance based I think they need to be absent from the queue though) and they will give you items or a puzzle chest (at least this is how I've gotten one). The puzzle chest is sort of like a tangram. You have a pattern and pieces to fill it with. There is a target time which beating gives you better items than merely finishing it would.

I think if the passed Mii also own the game you can choose to team up with them and they'll accompany you into battle (the in-game text implies they only hang around for a few battles).

ah, that explains it. I always teamed up with the others. good to know!

thanks a bunch for the info!

Today is Canada Day and I decided to go out for a walk to a pretty crowded area. I brought my 3DS along with me and got 19 streetpasses. 6 of those people were playing ACNL, go figure.

Just had this happen YET AGAIN because I forgot what room I was currently at after saving up a bunch of SP'd Miis. Ugh. Had to watch them all just turn around before my two blue guys could team up and put out the flames. Why the FUCK can't I re-order in this situation?! It's so frustrating how they all just one after the other run away. :(

The signal is very weak. How many people you get definitely is affected by placement. In my back pocket I get a moderate amount. Holding it in my hand, I get a lot more. In my backpack, I get very few.

So i have a BIG problem with streetpass. Yesterday i got two visitors but i havent played with them since i had no time so far. Expecially since i have all of the dlc games and it takes some time to play them with my visitors. So AFter a long trip around the city today; i have a bunch of new visitors - but i can´t look at them without loosing the old ones... Do i really have to play every fucking game with the old ones? Why can´t they stack? This is ridicoulus. Is there some way around this?

I think the signal is rather impressive for what it is. I keep my 3DS in a case, in my bag, on a bookshelf about 2m from the nearest window which is on the third floor of my building and looking down on a pretty busy street, and get around 1-2 street passes on a good day.

Tbh, I have no idea of what range the 3DS Streetpass has. I've had over 100 tags through a case inside a bag, so it can't be all that bad.

Nope.

Streetpassing the same couple of people regularly isn't helping me too much in the new games. Although it looks like it gives larger pieces in Mansion as they level up.

From what I've seen of the games it looks like streetpassing the same people is only a benefit in Mansion where, as you said, you more you streetpass you get more pieces to pick from and at certain milestones they will give you an item.
The other games seemingly don't take into account how many times you have streetpassed them at all. In Squad the only thing that matters is their shirt colour (and if they are a gold special mii), in Battle the only thing that matters is the plaza population, and hell if I know if anything matters in Garden.

It isn't a signal issue: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=65829181#post65829181 (the consoles were inches apart).
Sometimes the pass procedure is just glitchy or buggy.

This really sucks.

Preach it, bro.
It could be so easily fixed: if the software detects you have the Miis (or Mii) needed to fulfill the requirement, they should be put automatically first in line.
Such a small thing that would make the experience so much better, faster and less annoyingly time consuming.

I got 1 streetpass outside of bestbuy today. It was in my bag in the car while i went to work. I wonder if I can take it in with me tomorrow and get more?
