You can get it for $22 and some change this weekend using code GMG25-BAWQB-8UQWG so people in the beta, is the game any good, worth a purchase?
So is this game as solo friendly as WOW is these days, or does it try to get it's players to work together?
Is there as least some benefit to partying up in a group? Is the solo combat more difficult than WOW?Yes, you can basically solo most of the way, at least in the beta. However - there are a few story missions that require you to party up, as well as the usual dungeons, etc.

How much is for a subscription?
Yes. It is. It's fantastic.

If this game is worth it, we won't know until we see how good the endgame is... and how it evolves.
The endgame is everything, really
This is just the saddest thing. I never did end-game anything in FFXI and had a blast for 4 years.
Are there any notorious monsters in FFXIV? I liked hunting those, also the gear is all basic stuff like a f2p game from what I saw. There was nothing exciting or anything. Maybe it's because it's still in beta though.
The only thing I'm worried about is combat. Everything else is very well put together.
I'm going to assume anyone that says the combat is boring is playing Archer, Lancer, or soloing on an ConjurerMe too. For me it's really dull and boring.
Seems like NMs are just fate events now. They spawn, everyone sees them and you just rush em.
I don't think there are unique drops like Leaping Boots in this either. Just standard gear progression.

I remember when I first played ffxi, it was interesting just to explore. Fast forward 7 or so months later and I was farming Palborough Mines with friends, making a huge huge quadav train and have everyone open up and aoe everything, to reap the rewards together. Now in this game it seem like you just do missions and leves, however I don't know how dungeons are so maybe that's where the interesting stuff to keep you going and not be bored is.
If they are taking the random loot from monster kills out of the open world and putting them in instances I guess that will fix the FFXI situation where one group of people/botters/gil sellers would own valuable loot dropping mobs. Maybe for the full release things will be more clear.
