Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

I think he's talking about the Pic of the Day. It's been 2 days since we've seen one because of the weekend.

Would you guys prefer if Sakurai revealed one character (sometimes two) per month from now until the game's release sometime in mid-late 2014, or if character announcements didn't start until early-mid 2014 where we'd get 3-4 per month (like the Dojo days)?

A character a month sounds fair, but it shouldn't start until fall, I think.

One character and a random screen shot is enough to fuel a few months worth of conspiracies. The less we get, the better.

It would be awesome if every Nintendo Direct from now on until the game is out ended with a "Warning: Challenger Approaching" trailer.

Possibly dumb question here, but...

Does SSB4 Wii U graphics now match Melee CGI Intro graphics?
Hell I can't even tell if some cut scenes in SSB4 are real time or not(the cinematic ones)

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is clearly inferior to those CG cutscenes. I'm not the best judge when it comes to this, but Melee's CG is still ahead of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U in terms of image quality.

I wonder when we'll get more material to scan for minute details to read too much into. I remember when people thought Ness was not in the game because Lucas' page said something along the lines of "Lucas is similar to Ness, a character who has been in Super Smash Bros. until now."

As far as the Sonic leak, I finally found the image.

I also remember when Lucario was legitimately leaked in a video.

I remember when Brawl was released in Japan. Off-screen shots were being posted everywhere. I tried with all my might to keep away. It worked for a few seconds. I remember images like this looking so cool. I think it made me realize that this was all real, and I was going to be playing this soon.

I would preferred two characters per month to keep the hype train chugging.

Well, It's possible that we might hear something from Nintendo Direct in a month or two.

Yeah, please don't show too much stages, items and etc. Just show us the characters and we are convinced enough. :P

A brilliant idea, would be a great way to build hype on an irregular basis. I would get a kick outta that.

Yeah, it's one of most common discussion that we have in few different forums or chatroom that we would get reveal trailer every nintendo direct, if they planned to do that way.

Nostalgia overload. I remember being on the site where you Go for Nintendo news all day looking at all of the new character info from Subspace Emmisary.

Stale moves
Coward
Stalker
bob-ombs away
Master of disaster
No defense nelly
Fall guy
First to fall
Whipping boy
Shameful fall

I love the negative bonuse names.

The stale moves one is ironic considering the horrible stale moves modifier in Brawl enhanced the turtle centric nature of the game.

Ah those leaked pics. I was definitely distracted with hype and anticipation in school when those came out. Dang I wish I knew about neogaf then!

Aww dem memories..i remember the sonic one. Yeah and finally seeing the roster after the wait felt a bit surreal.

Come on, you can't just leave it at that. What face?!

Ah forgot about that sorry.

You know I feel like an idiot but during this cutscene, around the :09-:10 mark, it looks like a face being reflected above Fox in the cockpit window. I just couldn't unsee it as a face, but now I see it's just the top of Fox's head being reflected. Derp.

Speaking of minds being blown, I remember the stealth Lucario confirmation, but not the hidden Sonic Cameo in the ZSS cutscene, whoa!

So, the Yellow Devil is stage hazzard, probably. If he acts like in MM1, then Kirby knows his stuff becoming friends with him.

So I am completely out of the loop here. The dojo updates already started? If yes, is it already following some kind of pattern? Did I miss something big? I keep forgeting to check this thread. I am subscribing, this way there is no way I forget about it again. >_>

Every weekday at 4AM EST (the new Japan Time!), Sakurai uploads a new pic of the game to the site.

There's a rumor that Lightning will be revealed soon.

The Dojo per se is not a thing anymore. The updates we currently get are new screenshots of the game, and even the content of those is strictly limited to things already revealed. So, those 5 screenshots a week (one every weekday at 08:00 UTC) are just a fun extra to keep the hype rolling. :P

Some things have been hinted/confirmed through interviews though. You can find most, as well as all daily pictures, at OP.

A big revelation or update should be expected in the event of a Nintendo Direct or something similar.

I feel like Yellow Hazard might be hinting at something, how he ended the trailer and seems to be something they've teased a bit... Though it could also mean that Brawl stages have gotten more dynamic.

Ah, I see. Thanks. So the dojo style updates didnt start YET or they are not going to happen at all?

There's a rumor that Lightning will be revealed soon.

And everyone's alt costume will be Lightning and nothing else. No exceptions.

And Lightning's hand replaces the Master Hand.

-_____-

You guys stop teasing me, ok!?

Multiple copies of the game bought if true. And I am not even kidding. Actually, now that I know about it, I think I will pull an Amirox and start asking every week if Lightning is revealed yet. :P

Joking. Kind of.

I always assume he's a stage hazard. Would be pretty awesome if it had other stage hazards that takes bosses from other games like the robot dragon from Mega Man 2.

I think Sakurai said no to Dojo style updates or at least implied it so. I may be remembering it wrong though.

That's actually good. The Dojo ruined a lot of the game. There were few surprises or unknown characters/stages by launch due to the dojo

Have we talked at all about why exactly this is being developed in parallel on both consoles? They take a different approach to visual style, different stage design, and a necessarily different focus in gameplay due to platform, the Wii U being mainly played for big multiplayer party matches and 3DS more used for single player and maybe online. So why the dedication to keeping them similar in other aspects such as character roster? Why not just treat them as truly different entries in the series if that's what they will inevitably be anyway?

Yeah, I was hoping they'd have a different roster, outside the staples, and that you could unlock both on both by connecting them. However, it seems that's not the case, which is sad.

Yeah, as fun as the dojo was, it spoiled too much about the game. I mean, once I got the game I knew almost every single thing about it. Took away the enjoyment of finding out things on your own. It was really hard to not spoil yourself because of that site. It was too fun to read.

Without the Dojo it'll be much easier to avoid spoiling myself.

Rather have more indepth info closer to release, like the thought process behind characters moves and whatnot.

Uh, so I haven't been up to date lately, but are there Version Exclusive Characters because I don't think the Wii Fit Trainer is in the 3DS Version, could be wrong though..

Spoilers in a fighting game? Ruined?? I find it hard to think of it that way. I think of finding out as much info as I can as doing research, I don't think knowing about all of the characters and mechanics in Brawl beforehand detracted in any way from the hundreds and hundreds of hours I've poured into it. Folks can put themselves on media blackout if that's their thing, I can't see any problem with a Dojo existing myself.

Eh... Smash isn't just a fighting game. It's a fan service title with lots of neat references. Knowing that xyz game managed to have a stage based off of it may be a welcome surprise to some and they may want to discover that for themselves. A bit different from learning a field with a windmill in the background is a new stage in the next Street Fighter.
