Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

I swear to god not 5 months ago when Velocity Ultra was announced you were tersely glad about it 'finally getting a proper release on something besides that shitty minis platform' or something like that.

*narrows eyes* I'm on to you Toto, I know your game.

You are correct but not completely, I wanted FuturLab to stop wasting their time on PSM (because..PSM is waste of time for everyone and their kittens) and make a native Vita game mostly a sequel to Velocity, I wasn't upset about Velocity Ultra first...then I saw the new artstyle and know it's nothing but that with trophies and touch gimmick and that was Ultra and it made me sad, then I realized that the minis version is actually give you more options to play and more options is better so I always recommend it over Velocity Ultra.

Aaah, okay.

It's good for me though, because I haven't checked out Velocity yet and I don't own a PS3 so it's perfect! I can see why someone in your position would avoid it though.

But if it is honestly an inferior copy why get it for the Vita?

Toto views it as inferior because he digs the art style of the original more and wants to play it on his TV.

The "Ultra" release contains the same game that Toto loves (with a different artstyle, to be sure) with more stuff, so it's not technically inferior unless you really dig the original art style.

I found the post I was wondering about BTW, but I won't link it here because I <3 Totos

It's a good thing you put quotes, because a total 3DS/Vita spinoff isn't what I'd call big.

I'd call a brand new game for the "Batman: Arkham" IP, "big". It falls in with Killzone and Tearaway as the big budget titles for the Fall.

Hope you're all going to grab Velocity Ultra! :)

Not if it costs me money.

i'm waiting till it's free.

Pretty much.

But if it is honestly an inferior copy why get it for the Vita?

How is it inferior, except in Toto's warped reality?
Sure, it's Vita only... but it's designed for Vita this time around. It's got updated graphics, leaderboards, trophies, and new controls. Unless I wanted to play it with a PS3 controller or felt my eyes required bleeding, I can honestly see NO reason.

Does Farming Simulator 2013 have missions/objectives?

I gave the demo a second chance (actually read the hints this time), and I can totally get into this.

So i had brought Escape Plan and it showed me a 1.4 GB Title Update. What the hell! The VITA memory is already expensive and i don't have space, now this TU demands 1.4 GB space =/

P.S I own 16 GB card but most of my game purchases are digital hence even 16 GB is small after PS+ -_-

well not when the mini is the superior version with two huge advantages.

- Velocity Minis has a better artstyle (way way better) than Ultra which was all over the place.
- Velocity Minis Can run on your PS3 on your big super beautiful Kuro HDTV, your PSP and your PSVita, Ultra is locked to Vita so less options for you.

This piece of shit is better than a huge lump of gold, because you can carry the piece of shit ANYWHERE - the gold is too heavy! (I'm not saying Velocity original is shit, i'm just saying you're a master of spin! :P)

Anyone try to Plat Persona 4 Golden? The Hardcore Risette Fan trophy seems a little hardcore.

I got it on my first playthrough. It should come naturally if you, grind, use all characters, and do all optional dungeons.

Speaking of P4. I should get my second run going soon. Only 4-5 trophies away from the plat.

Well yeah, there are some random missions like "Go to this point". Hahahaha. Apart from that, the objective is merely to grow crops, harvest them, sell them, make teh monies and buy better machinery, moar fields, make more money.

so it's harvest moon without the BS?

I need to hire you as my public relations spokesman.

I wouldn't. Blackgate looks like a PSN/XBLA game.

well... these days some XBLA are way bigger than many handheld games, see State of Decay, Blackgate while not exclusive but it look like it's a full featured game just like Castlevania: Mirror of Fate(and I think WB will just port it to XBLA/PSN later)

I just can't bring myself to buy Velocity Ultra. I love Futurlab's games, but I played the demo and it just felt too much like I was playing the minis game that it isn't worth it to me. I don't really care about trophies all that much, and I will never amount to anything on the leaderboards, so I think I'll just stick with the minis version.

So how's Dokuro?

Game has decent reviews and some following here. Personally, I couldn't get into it after playing the first levels. I thought I would love it and was very disappointed.
It is difficult and can be frustrating. The music is monotone and the presentation is lacking.

But if it is honestly an inferior copy why get it for the Vita?

Protip: stop listen to Totobeni.
I own both versions and Velocity Ultra is superior in nearly every aspect. I can see people prefering the pixel/retro look of the Minis version although the new art grows on you after several levels.
The controls of the Ultra version are much better and the leaderboards are a great addition.

I hope US gaffers will buy this game.

change that to A Hat in Time (dev already talking about ports) and count me in.

As much as I'd like this we need to stop asking for ports of games that are YEARS old. No one will buy them. Maybe a few thousand people but it's not gonna be a great success. We need games that are coming out in the future to come out at the same time on vita. Or ports of games that are only a few months old like hotline Miami.

Castle Crashers or Alien Hominid. Both from the same devs. (in case CC has exclusivity or something since it never came to PSN).

We could, but is it really necessary?
I don't want old ports, it's good, but not THAT good.
Why don't you ask for a sequel instead?

there are dozens of better, more interesting games to tweet shahid about

VitaGAF has spoken. The bill has been defeated :(

I just want more 2D beat em up on Vita... Its the perfect system for it! Especially with Online! Hell, Give me a 3D Beat Em Up...

The genre needs to be revived!

This is a very good choice as well. It needs to come bundled with the dlc though.

It's getting totally remade and getting relabeled as TBoI Rebirth. From what I can tell it will have all of the original + expansion stuff plus more, now that it's not going to be limited to running on Flash.

I'm not too happy about July's Plus games for NA. As other have stated, packaging PSP games for the Vita just isn't right. There are plenty of early games, and not the ones that are selling well. How about Katamari, or Dynasty, or even the horrendous Little Deviants? Granted....LD...I doubt I would even download that hot piece, but still. Also.....I love Metal Slug to death, so I can't feel too strongly about what I just said about this months selection....but..but...but still!!

I hope I'm not the only one addicted to the mobile store. On my way home from work, at traffic lights, I bought Velocity Ultra, then used my phones mobile hotspot to prep the download, so it would resume the INSTANT I got within range of my wifi.
I also hope I'm not the only one that has done something like I just described.
. I've held off the mini for this version. Seeing EU get it so long ago, and for free even...really stings..but $7.50 is a more than fair asking price in my book.

20 min in to VU, I am very pleased, surprised, and obsessed. My fun is leveling up with each port. BAMF!

That pinball heroes demo is awful. Why even bother making that game when we already have one amazing realistic pinball game and one amazing videogame-y pinball game?

Came here to say Velocity Ultra has me addicted, that is all...

Is the plat hard?

Depends how good you are at the game! :P With some practice, perfecting the levels will come to you eventually. That's the hardest part of the plat (i think)

No, we got:
- A really awful game with amazing tables
- A really amazing game with awful tables and physics

Farsight must be the most incompetent developer in the whole world.

I have a simple test that I use to determine whether or not a platinum is hard to obtain: if I have the platinum, it's not hard to obtain. :p

I have the platinum

In all seriousness, it's not easy by any stretch but with a little practice learning the layouts it's not too tough at all. If I were into rating my platinum difficulties, and I'm not, I'd give it a 3/5.

I'm with you, i'm redownloading a capcom collection and i have dragon's crown preordered(my first and probably last preorder), but imo castle crasher is not that good, a new(exclusive) beat'em up would be better.
if GT6 was on Vita

Sony know that all Vita owners are stuck in "Preparing to download...Please wait" screen, so they don't want to tease them with good stuff they can't get...

was this problem in the the European release too?

I'm on vita and gt6 looks perfect.

The journey one was ok too
