Well, time to retract my pledge!

lol. Anyway, it's cool that James Chen is willing to do this for a pretty niche game. Hopefully they start talking about the game on their stream if they haven't already.

So much spin

All you can do is HOPE he's sandbagging at this point. Locals/casual matches barely count for anything. He's comfortable running his own stream/local tournament, but has been a choke master at tournies.

This is like people saying "but Yipes is the best at casuals!" Doesn't matter. It's pure dick riding at that point.

what's this "we" stuff

You can stay self-hating or be the change you wanna see by not participating in bullshit or by saying your piece. On some level, I love the "FGC." On another, I think roping everyone in together as "FGC" is a bullshit way to judge everyone. I don't attribute the good OR bad actions of others who play fighting games to everyone. that's just fallacious shit.

true.

Yeah, I'm kind of wondering if there's a third party involved that can confirm that.

Unknown just confirmed it. He quit because there was too much shit talk/

Wow, so Green Ace was just a fragile little nerdy guy putting up an ironic thug persona. NO WAI.

FChamp is sandbagging. He's been really vocal in his stream about the only thing he cares about is winning Evo again.

I expect Justin Wong to use a new team also. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up using Morrigan.

If he quit because there was too much shit talk, that's different from quitting because you're getting bodied. Some people don't like dealing with bullshit like that.

That's just how it always goes. Nobody really gets special treatment.

The key is that no matter how rough it gets, it's just a game.

I'm not saying someone needs special treatment. I'm just saying that it's not an indicator of skill or saltiness. If I had FChamp yelling in my ear for 10 games, I'd probably get annoyed, too.

So Eventhubs has two free streams listed for Topanga Charity Cup this weekend, I'll be addding it to OP alongside other relevant details within the hour.

Why would he apologize, I don't get that.
Apologizing for earlier pop offs or at least saying he was a better player than FChamp because he beat him in tournament. FChamp said something to the degree of "oh so just because you beat me in this tournament you think your better than me?" And he sorta replied with a conceding"no." FChamp's account of course. I should also note FChamp said he is back in heel mode now.

Conspiracy theory: the twitch down time is somehow related with the influx of these new spammers. I don't remember these "Yoo hoo!" guys with the years in their names before the downtime.

There are limits to shit talk though. JMO

true, there's stuff that would be trashy to yell (like serious personal issues or something)

Also, not everyone handles it as well as others. I agree that it's just a game and I'm not saying that Green Ace is like this, but some people just find it difficult to deal with.

The thing is, you get it one way or the other, so you have to learn to deal with it. You'll get it in casuals and if you make it to the big stage and you're playing against some who has their crew there, you'll get it even worse. Anyone involved in anything competitive that has an actively cheering crowd has to harden up to it.

ITT people get worked up over a sandbagging player winning a local.

The WMW doesn't mean shit, I was obviously trolling with the "don't make me laugh" comment. What matters is tournament results and on that front FChamp is #4 seeded player in the world and that's all that matters. This objectively puts him squarely in god territory if you want to count top 5 best in the world.

Casuals and MMs don't matter as much as tournament results. They are a factor in judging skill level but not a major one as a casual set does not provide the appropriate setting for a tournament match. ChrisG might be garbage at casuals but he's the one true god of the game. I mean if we are gonna start judging gods by their casual performances then might as well add Bum to the list.

therefore, Champ must've been sandbagging for an entire year....

Heel champ won Evo, face champ barely gets top 8s i guess thats why hes back in heel mode but i liked face champ more

Anyone involved in anything competitive that has an actively cheering crowd has to harden up to it

which is why people wh ocant handle it should invest in noise canceling headphones instead.

That's not the point, though. It's not about him losing, which he may or may not have done, but rather quitting. I don't blame someone for leaving if there's a jeering crowd, or if he's sitting next to someone who is infamously known to be an obnoxious trash talker like FChamp. It doesn't mean anything. They were casuals at a tournament setting.

Really bummed over Sanford and Dieminion not attending EVO this year. Some of America's best just not being at EVO is a bad look.
Though it'd be really strange if they can't make it to EVO but still managed to go to VxG.

Sanford supposedly hasn't been interested in Evo since 2011 or so.

I think that David and Yipes would be the only additional commentators I would really need, but the more the merrier... having many different choices is a good thing in this instance, and you can always turn commentators on or off.

How is it strange? Those two will most definitely be at VxG because they are VxG Elites. Sanford loved VxG when he went last year.

That sounds like regular smack talk.

And FChamp gets special powers from people hating him.

Damn, i guess West Coast smack talking is really different.

I don't know if i would keep my composure with someone calling me brown boy or the N-word in my ear during a match with a bunch of people around :s

I could see Juicebox working in a vidgame environment if it's like vanilla VF5.

West Coast? It's much worse on the EC and in the dirty South.

Brown boy? I have been called way worse than that. Sand N-word, brown monkey, diaper F-word, Al habi-bitch etc. They don't say you need a thick skin in the FGC for nothing.

He shot himself in the footin EVO 2010 and never recovered from it. It was like he thought he was going to get preferential treatment when he paused the game to complain about having the wrong buttons mapped. That year was a wake up call for Sanford.

Sanford just shot himself in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about FGC culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in eSports where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in the FGC, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the people who run fighting game tournaments, after hearing about this, are not going to want to give Sanford any stream time, nor will they give Sanford any second chances. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sanford has alienated an entire community with this move.

Sanford, publicly apologize for your pause or you can kiss your chance at a sponsor goodbye.

I tried my best you guys

Clearly the way it should be.

I personally think insults should be kept with in the game. Personal insults are too much and racial slurs go waaay to far.

@DivekickGame 38m
Divekick is in submission. We will have a release date for you very shortly! Is your body ready?

Finally a release date! I had a blast with Divekick at CEO. I can understand how some people may find it boring to watch, but man is it fun to play.

But those are the ones that get in your head and under your skin, affecting your game play. But when you power through the vitriol and emerge victorious it makes the pop off even sweeter.
