Everyone on the forum should have to pick a side. You should run a forum-wide ban bet.

I think it is time to draw the digital line. Chris Weidman will be fighting on Saturday and I think there is going to be a lot of trolls crying here. Either way when he fights this forum will likely be on fire. So in order to try to put it out some gasoline on this fire I will ask those interested to stand up and be counted.

I feel Chris Weidman is a great fighter, likely to be better than most that will come out this year. I certainly feel it is the best middleweight we have ever seen. I also believe the press and UFC fans alike will believe this. This puts me in the “For” camp.

I know there are many who feel strongly in opposite camp. I also would ask you to stand up and say “Against”.

When the fighter steps in the cage and everyone watches all the speculation will be over. If I am wrong and fight fans in general think Chris Weidman is “crap” then I am comfortable with getting tagged “Owned by The Spider”.

However, if I am right and he is received well, I would like to see those “Against” to be tagged with “Owned by Heel”.

I would like to make a honorary invitation to EvilLore and TheNaturall who help fuel the fire on a regular basis – assuming you both would be “Against”. In the end though, it is your decision and I want to remind everyone that I have an advantage of actually knowing Chris Weidman will win.

I invite anyone who seeing someone trolling Chris Weidman in other threads to point them here. :D

So it’s time to be stand and be counted:

Heel - “For”

what you talking about playboy?!

I'm talking about 2000. 2007 was the start of the Wandy decline. Vio-Lence, how can you hold a guy that has more decision than he has knockouts in such regard? When you've actually used the argument against GSP recently? Do you really have such high praise for a guy that beat up the likes of Rafael Cavalcante, Renato Sobral, and the realest fraud ever Fedor? A man that lost to two 205 chumps named Evans and Machida? Did I mention he lost to Jake Shields?

You're willing to ban yourself from your own website over some dusty old can, friend? If that's the fate you choose, let's make arrangements.

Since I'm giving up some odds, I ask that when I win said bet I also gain full control of the altering of my forum tag at will. If you lose, you change your forum tag to whatever MMA-GAF decides.

You have 24 hours.

My hespec for you has grown tenfold, that's that prime Kazuo Misaki fighting for the fans & children budo, a rarity in today's world.

I don't want to be banned because I love this site so much, but I'd seriously consider betting my account on Anderson Silva.

I'm that confident in Anderson Silva winning this fight. I really can't even fathom how he could lose.

Maybe to GSP, possibly to Jon Jones.

so you are propping up a yakuza bought decision victory in 2000 over a KO evisceration? oh jerry...

and it's revisionist history calling 2007 wand past his prime. consecutive knockout loses to mirko and dan erased the yakuza paid and furnished axe murderer persona.

So what's your excuse for Dan losing to Jake?

who's making excuses? you're whole argument hinges on split decision losses. guys lose fights. dan comes to scrap every time he fights, not his fault that guys like rashad or lyoto come out to point fight and result in boring affairs.

Since this is all in response to Evilore's post, I think it should not be Just "Canned by Spider", I think the tag should also involve Evilore.

I think that's the point. QRJ doesn't know who The Wildman is because The Wildman is not a star, and certainly not deserving of being in the main event of a $60 PPV. He's more "UFC on Fuel TV" caliber, really, possibly fighting a Tim Hague or a Denis Kang level of fighter.

QRJ not knowing who Weidman is, is like Hulk Hogan not knowing who some new rassler is, who gives a crap about Quinton's opinion anyway?

That's the beauty of this arrangement. UFC have built Chris Weidman so poorly that no one knows who is he, or that he's about to mollywhop Canderson Silver on Saturday night for that matter. The whirl will truly be shocked by a fighter the UFC has never even bothered to put on pay-per-view.

Many of you are a little wet behind the ears when it comes to mixed martials, so let me paint a picture. Anderson Silva was 6-1 in MMA when he emerged from relative obscurity, much like Chris Weidman, to beat the perceived #1 welterweight in the world, the unbeatable Mach Sakurai. He also only had one fight in the UFC when he received a title shot and beat the #1 school teacher in the world.

History is destined to repeat itself. Chris Weidman, your next UFC Middlweight Champion of the World.

But the Orient had an undeserved Ricksonesque aura back then. Maha was the #1 welterweight in the world the same way Sato or Aoki Senpai Chan was the #1 lightweight in the world.

Plus, it was a crappy little Shooto event. This is "the Superbowl of the Mixed Martials."

dream, did Anderson Silva get a title shot after beating "Chris Leben" in his first UFC fight on "UFC Ultimate Fight Night 5" yes or not

I hardly ever say this, but are you fucking trolling us right now? How can someone who is so clearly into following MMA act as if Weidman has shown anybody anything in his career thus far that would earn him respect in this matchup? His win against Munoz was the only one that I could even construe as noteworthy, and let's not pretend that that was enough to put him anywhere near Anderson's level.

Anything can happen in this sport, of course, but please stop this charade. I've seen almost all of Weidman's fights, and I have done the same for Silva since Pride. Weidman would have to significantly top anything else he's ever done to even put Silva in remote trouble.

Perhaps many felt the same about Mecca Vale Tudo's Anderson Silva when he was paired against the unbeatable Mach Sakurai. I mean, who has that guy ever beaten, Israel Albuquerque? Claudionor Fontinelle?

Heel is speaking historical facts young padawan.

Couldn't this essentially have been said about any person that fought Anderson?

"Well, what if they shock the world?"

And then they get their asses handed to them. I don't see any reason why Weidman would be any different.

I'm opposed to the idea of being "for" or "against" Weidman as though he's the main attraction here. He's just a warm body for you Silva haters to fellate until the next grappler lines up to get his face kicked off by Spida Silva. You got your vote terms backwards, Heel.

Why we gotta argue? Let's just enjoy a potential great night of fights. Let's not turn into soccer fans here.

We're judging Weidman on his potential and skillset. Jon Jones hadn't beaten anyone before he creamed Shogun but the talent was obviously there. You don't have to be a troll to see Weidman is extremely talented as far as his overall game.

I remember when mach was brought stateside to get smashed by ww goat matt Hughes.

I remember that too, friend. It's of historical importance because it was the second time a Japanese "p4p king" was exposed on American soil, with the first being the legendary BJ Penn's 10 second dismantling of "Japanese p4p king" Kaoru Uno.

So you're saying perception is everything until it's changed, friend?

Perhaps, as dream puts it, the 38 year old Anderson Silva has developed "an undeserved Ricksonesque aura" that's about to be shattered by the young prodigy Chris Weidman. Perhaps what's believed to be truth and fact is nothing but an intricately woven web of lies and deceit that is destined to turn into nothing more than cobwebs on Saturday night. Perhaps Anderson Silva is not currently the best fighter at middleweight in the Ultimate.

When that octagon door slams shut, a truth will be revealed.
