Remembering Ryan Davis, 1979 - 2013

What a great way to kick-off my birthday, first thing I do is check GAF and this thread pops up. What a tragic loss, I've been a fan of Ryan Davis since the Gamespot days, I still have some Gamespot Complete E3 DVDs and hearing Ryan every Tuesday on the podcast had become natural so its going to be a bit weird without him. My condolences to his wife, friends and family, you'll be missed Ryan Davis.
 
This is horrible. Been listening to this guy every week since 2009. I always thought he sounded exactly like Patton Oswalt (Spence from King of Queens).

He always made the podcasts great.

Cmon man saying stuff like that gives folks the wrong idea. Dude could have had a legit reason since that particular drug is used for pain relief. If you are going to comment about it at least say something that wont be taken the wrong way.
 
Holy crap, my heart stopped when I say the thread title. This is a huge loss for the gaming community. I loved his work on GB. Rest in peace. :(
 
Jesus christ my heart literally jumped when I saw that thread title. God, my thoughts are with his friends, family and wife.
 
I don't get how he could have died July 3rd and this is the first we're hearing about it? Seems all the GB crew were tweeting like normal up till today.

Maybe they wanted a private funeral and didn't want the internet to get in on it?

Not that it's any of my business, this is just all so surreal.
 
God, I wish I knew other gamers IRL to talk to about this shit. I'm just kind of stunned. It feels like the end of an era, guys. Between the loss of our poor Ryan and Patrick moving, things just won't be the same.

Let's take a moment to remember that these game journalists, love them or love to hate them, are humans and work hard to entertain and inform us. Be careful about taking them for granted.

Maybe my favorite personality in an industry that trades on personalities. Feels like I've been friends with him for years, though I never met him.

Fuck, this doesn't feel real. I can't even count the number of hours I've watched Ryan over the years. Seriously, I have GB videos on constantly while I'm doing other things or when I need something to listen to. This with his recent wedding is just heartbreaking : (

I don't even know how they are going to keep going after this. Ryan was the face and the host of nearly everything they did. Everything they do from now on is just going to feel like it has a huge hole left in it. I feel terrible for everyone, including his new wife. I can't even imagine how awfult it must be. Fuck
 
Never been a fan of any Youtube channels, any Podcasts, or any Editors to follow on Twitter. Only them, from Giantbomb.

They are the only podcast I would look forward to from time to time, expecting a marathon with my face starring at the monitor every year at Giantbomb E3 show. That is what I looked forward to the most. Ryan was the life of it.

I was so angry when I read the thread title because I thought it was a joke but it's true. Fuck. I loved him on Giantbomb.

Hope the people closest to him are well. The dude just got married...

Do we know how it happened?
 
I'm so absolutely shocked at this news. Ryan was such a funny and great guy who always managed to put a smile on my face. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and the Giant Bomb crew. He will be missed incredibly.
 
That's horrible. Absolutely horrible. What a loss. Especially after JUST getting married.

He had such a jovial nature and he was just someone who we all felt was the big friendly guy next door who you loved to have over at any time.

He was a fantastic podcast host, too.

It happened back on July 3rd and is just now being reported. I wonder what happened? :(
 
R.I.P- Ryan Davis you, Jeff, Brad, and Gregg Were the reason I started following Video game Journalism and communities.

You showed us that no matter what the world does, you can always find a place for your voice to be heard.

My condolences to the entire Giant Bomb cast, and Davis family. We didn't just lose a great video game journalist, we lost a good and sincere person. Who didn't let the world crush his optimism or views.

He will be forever missed.
 
Holy shit. I cannot believe this. I'm really shocked...
He was such a big part of Giant Bomb. A great host with a lot of charisma. I can't believe he's gone already, this is terrible.
 
Holy shit this is just awful. Giant Bomb just won't be the same without Ryan. The guy was hilarious and made me laugh all the time. An utterly sad day for the gaming community and for his new wife especially. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it. Live life to the fullest everyone. RIP Ryan.
