Remembering Ryan Davis, 1979 - 2013

My condolences to all of his family and friends. Giantbomb will never be the same without him! A sad day for gaming!

God damn it, he was so happy at his wedding.

This is so awful, and on his honeymoon. :(

I just saw this on Joystiq and thought it was a joke. I literally didn't believe a word of it until I started investigating it.

This is really really horrible. Ryan was awesome AND he just got married? Bullshit.

RIP buddy.

Man, that's genuinely shocking news. I loved Ryan on Giantbomb, his playthrough with Patrick on Chrono Trigger has to be my favorite thing on the site. Just started listening to the podcasts a while back too, so I felt like I started to get to know him a little better. Unbelievable and sad news, don't know what else to say...

I've barely watched the Giant Bomb stuff, but from the stuff I have watched, he was awesome. Really makes me sad that he is gone. :(

OHHH FUUUUUUUUU!! OMG!

i cant believe it...

this news has seriously bummed me out today. my condolences go out to his family.

RIP Ryan :(

On his wife's twitter you can see Jeff is at her house on July 4th setting off fireworks. So they were obviously supporting her and dealing with it privately. Man, this is just such sad news.

never really watched or read most of the GiantBomb stuff, but i loved their babysitting Mama videos, and his face were really funny. Very sad indeed.
My condolences to the family. RIP

Damn.. RIP. Always enjoyed watching GB streams / videos with him in. It won't be the same now. I can't even imagine how horrific it must be for his wife.

Not trying to be rude, because I'm ignorant on these matters.

Who is Ryan Davis and why was he so important for the industry? I just saw it trending on Twitter right now.
Gamespot editor and Giantbomb co-founder, covered games for the better part of two decades.

He obviously made a lot of friends and followers both inside the industry and among fans who are now expressing their condolences and reminiscing on the good times had. Such a tragic death at 34, just days after getting married.

Unreal. Was so sure this was a fucked up joke when I first saw it.

I've watched and listened to upwards of 95% of everything Giant Bomb has put out over the course of the last two years. They are by a wide margin the most entertaining outlet of their type. Because of the open way they operate, you really feel like you get to know these guys. Dude is a legend...Giant Bomb can't be the same without him.

What the hell?????? WHAT THE FUCK!? This is awful, awful news. How terrible. I feel for his friends and family, and he just got married, how sad.

This is fucked up. Have known him since the Gamespot days even though I haven't followed a lot of GiantBomb's work and he just got married too....geez. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

RIP. You will be missed, Ryan.

It's such a tragic, untimely loss. We are all absolutely devastated; it still hasn't fully sunk in.

Last time we saw him was last weekend at his wedding, just a few days before he passed. I have never seen him happier. Surrounded by people he loved, and who loved him. Rest in Peace, buddy. You will be sorely missed.
Such a sad/horrible thing to read, no matter your following of this guy. I can't even begin to imagine the grief his family (especially his wife) is experiencing right now. Thoughts and prayers for them all during extremely hard times...

I don't use to follow journalists so i didn't know him, but it's a tragic news anyway.
Condolences to all the people who knew him.

What's the cause of his death?

I would just like to say that it's been a while now, and I still am in disbelief and don't know what to say. I know EvilLore doesn't want speculation, and I respect that, but I think it's natural for us. I am trying to make sense of how tragic it all is, but perhaps that is the wrong way to do this. I wonder if we'll ever know. Nevertheless, 34 is ridiculously young, and this is a reminder how short life can be. This one hurts.

feel really bad for Patrick (who missed the wedding because his father died a year earlier, thinking he could always see Ryan again),

This exact thing happened to my uncle, who missed a wedding his dad was at. Family got together and had a great time, and dad was dead a week later.

Have to live your life in a way to minimize regret. Everyone has a story like that, whether it's lost love or not enough time with a good friend. You only get one spin at the wheel.

Like many I've listened to him for years, and it is a damn shame. The console launch Bombcasts won't be the same without him.

So sad to hear this. Stunned, and even more stunned to find out this happened a few days ago. Again, R.I.P Ryan and condolences to the loved ones.
