I find it odd that people care about the cause of his death beyond wondering if it was a murder or not (for the purposes of revenge, of course!).
Even if it turned out to be something like a heart attack, who cares? Do some people just wanted to say, "see! fat people!" or some shit like that?
Sounds like he died in his sleep.
Wow at 34... just nuts.

Jesus, guys. Does it really matter?

Ryan's last quick look, Game and Wario, his last line "Alright, see you, guys." That and the sad, but nostalgic sounding music in the background made me a tiny bit misty eyed.

I think on some level, it's a sort of comfort to know the "why", the means of the unfortunate passing. It's to reassure the mind that the death wasn't some complete mystery, an unsolvable puzzle.

I find it said that the last console launch Ryan was alive for was the Ouya. Goddamnit, fuck that thing.
Yes, it does. Maybe not in the sense that it's none of our business, it's not, but say it was weight related. If this is a wake up call to Jeff or any of the community that they should live healthier, then yes, it does matter. This is not to insult Ryan or bring him down or anything like that, but out of his death could come some good for others.
Don't mean to sound insensitive, but it's hard to die at the age of 34 from natural causes... Maybe they don't know, maybe they don't feel comfortable releasing such information.
Sad either way. Really is a huge loss.
Nah, it doesn't count. It would have to be the Wii U.I find it sad that the last console launch Ryan was alive for was the Ouya. Goddamnit, fuck that thing.
Yeah... I have to say he went out on a good QL too. It was quite hilarious.
Him palling around with Jeff making fun of the miiverse drawings... Now I'm getting sad.
Not going down this road. Who are you anyways?
He mattered.
Unless you were talking about his death? In most cases, that brings closure. I've dealt with death and wanted to know why as well. It's natural and in some cases, it hurts more knowing that sometimes they could have been helped.
This is how I feel. I'm just really curious. I mean no disrespect. Some people just need that kind of information to get some closure on the situation. There's nothing wrong with that and it's a part of (some people's) grief. Whether or not you belong to these people is nice to know, but ultimately of no importance to the feeling of others.
Not when you're a big guy like Ryan. I'm sure he had some health complications.
This is such a sad story, especially right after his mariage. The same thing happened to my cousin who was in a diving accident about a month after marrying his lovely wife.
I think Ryan's death is the first "celebrity" death that has just left me feeling sad and distraught. He wasn't a world renowned super star like Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger or Whitney Houston. He's just a normal guy who we heard and saw almost everyday through Giantbomb. He was goofy and funny. He could rub people the wrong way, and he loved his job.
I thought he died on his honeymoon? Is dying at home new info?
No, it doesn't. And "natural causes" sounds to me like a polite way of saying "none of your damn business". As much as I liked Ryan, hell I loved the guy, it's not our business and we have no right to keep asking. We got all the info we deserve, that's it.

I wonder if they will have the bombcast this week. Really sad news.

When someone dies that you care about its only natural to ask "why?"
I hate seeing this thread title every day.
"What's going on in gameing? ....Oh, yeah"

I was rewatching the memorial stream and what happens at 26:35?
Drake seems pretty pissed at someone for saying something? I can't quite catch it.
His father is very graciously offering some insight where he is under absolutely zero obligation to provide any at all during a time where he, Ryan's mom, and their other children must be going through a hellish amount of grief.
We, as individuals, are obviously free to do whatever we want, but respecting the family and taking his father's words at face value would be the classy thing to do.

Sorry to the original poster I quoted, I worded that wrong. I didn't say that to say he's nobody. I was actually calling him out personally but I should have worded it differently and to be fair to me, I though he was saying what he said in a way that was saying "why does it matter that Ryan died?". Then I seen his avatar and knew what he meant and edited that 3rd line in. Apologies to him for that.
What good could come of revealing it? What if it was some health problem, do we need threads filled with people saying he should've lived healthier? The cause is nothing but a distraction and just because people want one doesn't mean they should have one.
