Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

The fact that people donated money for it to be there/see it and for cancer research puts them a verry bad light.

I curious to see if they change their mind.

Yeah this would be a dick move normally but after the donations... Yeah. Not a good light for Nintendo legal here.

Man, I despise their legal team so much right now. They're the ones who most likely decided that it would be good for NOA to prevent LPers getting money too.

Well, I think Nintendo of America don't want them to make profits from their own game. That's only one reason I could came up with for them to not allowing Melee on Stream.

I was thinking more possible loss of IP control, but I think that precedent is already well established (though no in courts, obviously)

It's amainzg how they chose to screw up on this fantastic oportunity to promote the new games. Killer Instinct 3 was having a character reveal at EVO iirc. why don't do something simmilar and be cool about people loving your games instead of giving them the middle finger?

Yeah, I could see them doing Pac-Man or Little Mac announcement at EVO but what a shame.

I don't understand why they don't go after Twitch or something for the dozens of streamers streaming Nintendo games. I don't want them to, but I don't see any difference. There is nothing that makes sense with this stupid decision ignoring the fact it is Nintendo's IP.

Maybe NoA asked if the broad range of options that the Smash games are know form were going to be on display and EVO told them no, it will be Fox only, no items and Final Destination which basically caused NoA to cry because that's not the image they want their game to have with Smash 4 coming out.

If only they chose the superior Battlefield.

People are saying Nintendo should show not one but two fighters at EVO. I can understand being upset about the stream issue, but lets not lose our heads. Nintendo will save that kind of news for the majority of interested consumers, not a small niche.

There is literally zero good reasons for them to do this, I'm assuming due to previous comments about Melee and the fact that Brawl appeared at EVO in the past, that this has something to do with them considering Melee some competitive thing that'll make Nintendo look 'too hardcore' for 'casual' players.

Nintendo seems to hate anything competitive, yet their games have multiplayer modes where you compete against each other.

The fighting game community is not a small niche. Over 2 million unique viewers were watching Evo 2011 (I can't find Evo 2012 numbers). That's a huge group, and it's not a group that traditionally supports Nintendo. It's a great opportunity to reach out to a new crowd and gain new fans.

That's highly unlikely. A LARGE majority won't know what the hell Evo is, let alone watch it.

This decision most likely came from Nintendo's stupid legal team with their bullshit policies on their IPs and videos and streaming.

A cool way to reveal Little Mac would be to have the coach give a pep talk or something and then come into the ring and punch Mario in the face.

SCREW YOU REF!

Sorry to bring the subject back up, but I have to admit that the current EVO situation for Melee has tempered my excitement for Smash 4.

I've gone from buying a Wii U for the game without a doubt to needing a good online component to it to convince me. Sucks.

Apperently it's back in the lineup according to Shoryuken. I figure this is a case of NOA's legal department being on auto pilot.

No, it's still on lineup but they can't stream the tournament.

The situation is terrible bad but I'm not going to let it tempered my excitement for Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country Return 2, Smash 4 and Mario Kart 8. However, I'm concerned that Nintendo of America might have gotten worse over the time in future. I meant NOA's incompetence with Melee is not only thing that they screwed up with. There is a problem with their progressive with Mii Plaza update, so we don't have it yet but Japan and Europe got it.

No, really. I don't usually get upset about the goofy moves Nintendo sometimes makes, but I really don't understand their stance here. Sure, Twitch stands to earn some money off of Nintendo's 12-year-old game. But it exposes millions (yes, millions) to the hype of competitive Smash Bros. and the zany emotion of its community. It shows that Nintendo supports the $100k that was raised for Breast Cancer research. It shows that Nintendo supports its games as a form of competition. It's such a perfect opportunity for them to portray themselves as a wonderful, encouraging, open-minded company.

And now they're not only wasting that, but doing the absolute worst thing possible. Deflating excitement for one of their games that a ton of people paid to be able to play and watch. It makes zero sense to me. I'm going to be baffled by this for a while, and I'm still not sure what my long-term response is going to be.

Such a quick response it's almost unbelievable. Then again, the initial response was also kinda unbelievable...

Regardless, this is great news!

Is it bad if the biggest thing I worried about when I heard this was...

people were going to claim Nintendo did this because they didn't want to admit Melee was better than Brawl

I think it was because some people didn't buy Brawl because they didn't like the changes from Melee. Sakurai has said that Smash 4 will be somewhere between Melee and Brawl, and Nintendo probably wanted to limit further comparisons to Melee since Smash 4 won't be Melee. But denying fans their Melee stream just had the opposite effect.

At least they're speeding things up and got rid of tripping.

I'm pretty sure this whole thing was a misunderstanding. The only reason Nintendo pulled it from the stream is because they wanted the show runners to get their permission. This whole thing was overblown.

Off topic to the whole Evo controversy, but what's the likelihood we get an update on Smash if Nintendo has a pre-Gamescom Direct or even at Gamescom? Dojo has spoiled me. :(

1%. 50%. 100%. -909423958454302345%.

That's totally accurate, take my word for it.

If Nintendo is having a direct? 33%

Gamescom? 2%

Weekly pictures of stuff? 110.314%

I would rather have a Wuhu Island stage than a playable Mii. Seeing the Miis fencing, canoeing, and playing frisbee, table tennis and golf in the background would be awesomely sedate. Fireworks during the night and planes zooming through the sky, it would be serene and lovely crashing such a wonderful vacation destination.

Why can't we have both?

Ever since Sakurai announced the 3DS version of Smash would have a character customization feature a long time ago I figured Miis would be one of the new additions to the roster.

I am not feelin' like a double decker today.

And the customization feature has me more worried than excited.
