Try thinking about this: All the guys here have known since the 4th. They've had some time to grieve in private (they don't need to make that part of the process public), and they're here to reminisce and do a show. It's also in Jeff's nature to make jokes. As the one of this crew who was closest to Ryan (I'm pretty sure this is widely accepted) I think he's a champ for handling it as well as he is.

I don't think the site is something they are doing just for the fun of it. Money is being made by the site and families depend on that daily content.

I understand the curiosity and general need for closure. And I say this with absolutely no spite and with a real appreciation for the difficulty in making major lifestyle changes--but he was a very large man who died in his sleep at 34. I don't know what kind of specificity someone in similar shape would be looking for.

I don't think it's because of his weight that he has passed. I have an aunt who's 55, & she's much bigger than he is.

The difference is that while we're all suffering personally because we love the guy from a public standpoint, they actually knew the guy privately. Just remember that it's not fair to pass judgement on people that actually hung out with him and talked to him on a day to day basis.

Labeling any behavior they have in the way they grieve or run their own site is just in poor taste, man.

I haven't listened to a Bombcast in a while, and I'm hesitating to listen to this. I guess I'm at the denial stage Thought I can go back to Bombcast whenever to catch a podcast here or there--taking it for granted.

Feels strange for feeling this way for someone so distant--but oh man the way he made me laugh into tears listening to some of his weird antics and the quicklooks. I know it sounds shallow compared to what his closest friends and family are going though but had to express some of these feelings. RIP you crazy, wonderful man.

There's been an apology, but I just need to get this off my chest.

There's this accepted 'way' for grieving that society has made up, and it's just bullshit. When my father died I was making Star Trek II references in the eulogy because I knew he'd have loved it. I wanted The Pushbike Song, one of my dad's favourites that he always used to play on the piano to accompany him out, but his mum and sister overruled me because they felt a happy song was inappropriate.

I regret backing down on that to this day.

But it's also been years and I'm still deeply affected by the loss every day to the detriment of my progress in everyday life. I could laugh right away, but I still can't move on.
There's also this 'accepted' period of mourning where people will give you space and understand, but after a while people just stop accepting it and wondering why you've not moved on. I deal with severe depression and anxiety, and I can tell you - people putting their own standards of what is acceptable in grief is one of the most frustrating things you can do.

Everyone has a different brain, everyone deals with loss differently and just because you can deal with something and someone else can't doesn't make them weak - nor does it make someone a callous asshole if you're hurt and they can still "get on with things" and laugh while they mourn.

Mourning can make you think some stupid things, even if it's for someone very few of us here actually knew, and that's normal - but if you've ever dealt with this for someone close or have a friend who is/has, try to keep in mind that it isn't about you, no matter how personally affected you are.
