Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

I'm tempted, but how good they are with delivery? Will I get it on launch date?

Sadly, no. You'll get it a day or two after, in all likelihood. That said, we don't even know what year this thing is really coming out. I can almost guarantee a better deal will show its face in the next year(s). Ugh, it makes me sick just to say it.

Nintendo is attending GamesCom this year. They didn't last year. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a Direct there.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got smash trailer from Aug Direct, but at same time I'm not sure what Nintendo would plan for their "TGS" show.

Melee has texture hacks? Neat.

I guess they got inspired by Brawl's hacking community.

(Unless that was there before Homebrew.)

It's a little trickier to get them working in Melee (have to go through some hoops) but mostly, yes, I would say the community was inspired to look into it. It was slightly before Brawl but I think once Brawl's modding took off Melee's got a boost, too.

It's pretty neat. Too bad Melee is a bit harder of a setup than Brawl is (since there's no way to use the SD Card stuff; you have to have an illegal copy of the game to do it).

And it's not quite unprecedented given the community's history with the Action Replay and accessing the Debug Menu to be able to see all the hitboxes and frame data.

So the whole issue with EVO could have come down to someone forgetting to fill in the paperwork and instead of just filling it in and getting it sorted quietly behind the scene they decided to make a song and dance about it and force the other party to deal with it faster before negative news spread too quickly. If EVO is trying to look like a professional organisation and that is really what happened that is a very unprofessional thing to do.

Guess one can kiss the Smash Bros 4 info reveal at EVO dream 100% goodbye.

This entire post is filled with lols.

There never was any "paperwork." And there damn sure was never going to be a Smash 4 reveal.

I don't think we were going to get any news from evo to begin with unfortunately. I don't think Nintendo understand the concept of hype right now. :3

Did you even glance in the EVO thread? Last couple pages were discussing the possibility of that being the real reason behind it. Please note the word 'could' in my post. Defined by the OED as "used to indicate possibility". I never said that is what happened, just speculation based on what others are saying.

As for my last bit, that was a reference to what others were saying Nintendo should do for EVO, which included ideas like two new characters being revealed and Sakurai being flown over to give a talk. In this instance I used the word 'dream' to indicate that.

I'm sure it's been posted before, but (SMASH - Smash Bros. Music Video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY8EoXDCk0Y is really awesome

REALLY at the ending ? =P

I would put good money on there being no paperwork whatsoever.

And I know you said "dream." That doesn't make it any less ridiculous. Nintendo has not once shown any clue that they even pay attention to EVO before this debacle.

during the downtown there was some rep for nintendo encouraging people to call in, e-mail, and retweet stuff about the whole thing. it's not like no one there knew what it was. there was obviously something else going on. "paperwork" is as legitimate of an excuse as any and it's the only one i've heard that sounds plausible, unless people are keeping the alternative realistic scenarios in their heads instead of discussing them. the other scenarios i've heard - evil overlord iwata couldn't stand the kids having fun? all sounds farfetched. bureaucracy and paperwork seems like the most likely one to me, typical business stuff.

Well this is NoA, a company basically founded by lawyers so they'd probably invent paperwork if they have to. And it's not like seeking permission to use the IP of another party is a new concept. And I know the dream is ridiculous, I even posted that last night so I don't know why you act like I believed in it.

This paperwork excuse only works if you think Nintendo is innocent, when it's crystal-clear that they aren't.

Except that Nintendo is clueless.
Nintendo can be clueless at times, yes... but that has nothing to do with this particular situation. There is, I repeat, NOTHING about this situation that's crystal-clear. All we have is a very vague statement and people have come up with their own stories about what happened based on that. I don't think Nintendo is innocent but I also don't think they're guilty. I think this whole thing was a misunderstanding that's best left forgotten. It essentially didn't even happen. Melee will be streamed at EVO. Nintendo is allowing Melee to be streamed at EVO. Nothing has changed.

They attempted to assert their legal rights (which some might call onerous, and are at the very least no de facto standard in the industry at the moment, but which do exist) and then... probably backed down in the face of fan pressure. Something did occur and it would best not be forgotten.

Nothing has changed, except Nintendo revealing how ignorant they truly are. But no, let's sweep this under the rug and pretend Nintendo is the greatest again.

Not really, just means they are rigid and do things by the numbers and don't give anything the benefit of the doubt. No paperwork no stream end of. Rather than looking at the situation and say allowing EVO to keep the stream as long as they send in the form in the next couple of days.

Doesn't matter if you're Hollywood or an independent film maker, both have to seek permission to use songs. EMI n co don't care if it can be seen as free advertising or whatnot.

Nintendo's legal department is the reason for what happened last night. Not Nintendo as a whole, not their policies, not their decisions, just the legal department.

Please do not use this act as a reason why Nintendo as an overall company are clueless.

Besides, it's common courtesy and the law to ask owners of an IP if you can stream their stuff. EVO neglected to do so

So why now? Why not anytime within the past 10 years? And why aren't they going after Cosmo or Siglemic for streaming their games? Or anyone else, for that matter?
Why do you really want to believe that Nintendo is clueless?
Because they are. It's not like they've shown signs of the opposite in terms of community things.

Nintendo has not once shown any clue that they even pay attention to EVO before this debacle.

Not trying to argue against you or anything, but I'd like to add to the facts pile that it was possible (if not currently possible) to view the EVO 2k8 SSBB Grand Finals video streamed directly through the Wii's Nintendo Channel app.

Because despite what people say Nintendo probably does get how online works and has put forward policies in their legal department to reflect this. They already flexed their muscles when it came to YouTube so maybe its just a matter of time.

STOP IT. Nobody is praising Nintendo, nobody is defending Nintendo. It's called being objective. Being neutral. Nintendo didn't reveal anything, literally. Because everything that happened between Nintendo and EVO has been completely private. All we have is a single, vague statement. Pretend to believe that Nintendo is ignorant all you want. I'll wait until they actually prove that to me in front of my very eyes to judge.

How could you say that when they were so quick to fix the issue?

Because it shouldn't have been an issue in the first place.
Pretend to believe that Nintendo is ignorant all you want. I'll wait until they actually prove that to me in front of my very eyes to judge.
There's been plenty of evidence to show that Nintendo is plenty ignorant on all sorts of things, from the internet to HD development.

No, it shouldn't have been an issue. EVO should have gone through official channels and got permission as dictated by law.

This also has no bearing on whether Nintendo is ignorant in HD development etc. It was their LEGAL DEPARTMENT enforcing their intellectual property rights

Happy note, let's actually discuss the topic at hand. Save this EVO crap to its specific thread

That is irrelevant to this discussion.

I'm saying I'm going to wait until Nintendo proves that they were being ignorant about THIS situation... and so far they haven't. Until I get an official, non-vague statement from either EVO or Nintendo I just cannot pass judgment.

Nintendo's lack of online support is one of the main reasons I couldn't care less about Pikmin
+99.9% of other first party titles
for $60 at launch. I'll get to it when I get to it.

Thanks, Nintendo.

I am pleased that the new Battlefield is taking it's cues from Brawl and not Melee. I loved that stage in Brawl and this one looks even better.

Why would anyone want to play Pikmin online? It's a single player game. It has leaderboards and Miiverse, that's enough for me when it comes to Pikmin's online.

...It has multiplayer you know
The multiplayer mode is something that's just there to give the game more replay value. I understand wanting SM3DW to have online, but who cares about Pikmin 3's multiplayer having online?

"Why would anyone want to play Pikmin online?"
Question ^

"that's enough for me when it comes to Pikmin's online."
Opinion ^

I don't understand where I was not being objective?
