Remembering Ryan Davis, 1979 - 2013

People asking about cause of death need to stop, its got nothing to do with us at all so stop bringing it up please. Just enjoy and remember the laughter he brought us.

There's nothing natural about a 34 year old man dying

Understand what you're talking about before opening your mouth.

By Sanj. It's perfectly Ryan.

Ever since i heard about this at the start of the week , I held back from shedding a tear because i thought it would be so wrong to cry about someone who i never met and only just listened to and watched every week.

Even with the recent podcast i got teary eyed a little but held back, it was only today when i sat down and fully thought about what had happened and just broke down :(

If this is the impact Ryan had on his fans i honestly cant even begin to imagine what his family and friends must have been going through the past week and then having to tell everyone again this week.

A death by natural causes, as recorded by coroners and on death certificates and associated documents, is one that is primarily attributed to an illness or an internal malfunction of the body not directly influenced by external forces.

Privacy is a right for everyone. The fact Ryan was a public figure that we listen and watch on a regular basis didn't mean he waived that away. His death was not public, it's his family and friends fundamental right to keep the immediate causes of death private if they wish so. We should thank his father the courtesy of having posted that tweet where he mentioned natural causes. That should be the end of that issue. Right there. This has nothing to do with political correctness or whatever madness someone could imagine as reason. It's only human and humane to expect some contention and privacy in times like this.

As long as people aren't being rude then there is nothing wrong with various avenues of discussion imo. That said I never really understand people who feel that they have the right to tell others what is right and wrong to discuss.

Just do your own thing and don't try and tell others what to do. The thread just gets dominated with discussions on etiquette.

It happens all the time and every day. High school athletes have fatal heart attacks regularly, healthy people in their 20s have strokes, this shit happens.

It's tragic, but it's a part of life. The sooner you accept it, the more sense it makes, not that going to the funerals gets any easier. I've been to far too many.

Well, it was suggested to donate to any charity in his name, but I can't think of a better thing to fund than the thing that his spirit will live on in more than almost anything else:

Now shut up GAF, I have a LOT of videos and podcasts to catch up on.

I recommend their bioforge series.

Don't listen to the podcast so I have no idea who Ryan Davis is. But any person who gets this much love must have been a great person and great for the industry. My condolences.

Rest In Peace.

I think it's mainly because people feel that it's disrespectful to talk about how he passed. He's gone, that's the strongest point. Personally I don't understand why people demand to know. He passed due to natural causes, he passed in his sleep, if you kept up with him you knew he suffered from sleep apnea. There you go, put two and two together and be done with it. It'd be nice to see if people can actually just post images, and have a discussion without mentioning or questioning how he died. It's really, really, really not important.

Actually, a lot of times when high profile people die young, it can be an important opportunity for a lesson to those living similar life styles. Not saying that's what should happen here, but if we don't know how he died then we don't know whether it's important or not. And I'm also not mentioning anyone go digging, but I can understand why people are wondering.

Ryans section on this weeks CAGcast was like being stabbed in the heart again. Shipwreck genuinely sounded like he was gonna breakdown.

Just goes to show how much people loved the big guy.

Fuck.. Terrible news.

Thoughts go out to GB friends and family. What a tragic and early end....

Point me in the direction and tell me what to do. That would be so damn amazing. Kind of like what they did with Cheapy D. In-game model and speech, ugh that'd be so good.

I wish I knew how to make such a thing a reality. Someone with more knowledge give me a clue and I'd be on it.

If his family wants to make it public, they will. And there should be no pressure for them to do so. Pointless to harp on about it.

fake edit
There we go then, I guess.

I do believe that the family will release some statement once all the causes are determined (an autopsy is always done when someone dies young without any explanation)

I assume something will be mentioned in weekend confirmed. Did Garnett and Ryan have any relationship outside of being industry colleagues? I don't recall them ever doing anything together.

It would bring some closure

If you really want closure just connect the dots.

He had Sleep Apnea.
He likely died in his sleep based on the tweet from his wife (about sending her brother to wake him up) and his dad saying he died peacefully at home.
There was also a tweet from his wife which mentioned she slept in their bed for the first time since it happened.

I don't think its too hard to figure out what happened.

edit: oh, and this tweet by Ryan's dad pretty much confirms what I and many others already deduced:

One of the host/guest a couple of weeks ago was talking about Jeff and the PAX Australia panel so they difinitly know them to some extent.
