Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

I *adore* the Kirby one. And every time I see Mega Man in a shot, it just makes me happy that he *belongs* there.

Pikachu is so weird now, he's really stretchy.

I think the problem with this Pikachu design is that it seems to lack a "neck" in a way. The head is to small compared to the slim body. Idk, that's how I see it. He doesn't mesh together like the older Pikachu designs. (N64 Melee Brawl)

I wonder how many other veterans will be announced in conjunction with the marketing push for their upcoming games? We could see:

Mario Series
Characters: Luigi, Peach, Yoshi
Games: Yoshi's New Island, Super Mario 3D World, Mario an Luigi: Dream Team, Mario and Sonic at the Olympics

Zelda Series
Characters: Toon Link, Zelda/Sheik, Ganondorf
Games: Windwaker HD, A Link Between Worlds

Donkey Kong Series:
Characters: Diddy Kong
Games: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Sonic Series:
Characters: Sonic
Games: Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, Sonic Lost World

Pokemon Series:
Characters: Jigglypuff, Lucario, Pokemon TRainer, Mewtwo
Games: Pokemon X and Y

And this time, please, he must suck.

And blow.

It must be tempting; Poltergust fits very well as a smash item (just as long as you don't make it too like Kirby!), and Luigi's Mansion 2 has been a pretty big success.

When the game's released it won't be, though.

True, but you only really need the announcement to be part of the year.

You should have seen Brawl Yoshi. His tail stretches to 10x its original length, his head contorts in different ways, and his boot enlarges by like twice its size.
He likes big boots and he cannot lie.

Definitely. I'm concerned that he mightn't get Poltergust after see Olimar not getting Rock and Flying Pikmin.

Olimar can still get flying Pikmin as a recovery move and maybe rock pikmin as final smash or something. They aren't in the pics but I'm positive they'll be in the final game, maybe there'll also be the three new protagonists as Olimar skins.

Unfortunately a lot of these are likely unlockables characters so we won't be seeing half of them to be revealed before the game launches. Only exceptions are third parties.

Things that bother me:

→None of the last 3 announced characters have seen running on 3DS
→Link's clothes clip through his pants in every single shot he flexes his knees
→The Pikmin stage's ground texture is completely out of place.

Impressed to say at least.
Those screens looks great.
I'm not a big fan of the background tho.
You can tell they tried to hide the pixelated trees behind a well implemented DoF.

And yeah, this game looks amazing. I'm impressed by how close all these in-game models look to their CG/Artwork images.
We're almost there :)

Agree mostly on the 3DS comment.

Weren't all the characters revealed in the dojo before Brawl came out?

Sort of. All the starter characters, Snake, and Sonic were on the Dojo by the time the game came out in Japan. By the time the game came out in America, the Dojo had already revealed several of the unlockable characters (and everyone knew the whole cast because of the Japanese release anyway).

There is article somewhere that mentioned that both version might not release at same time, so we already speculating that we are getting Wii U first. For two reasons, they want to boost Wii U sales and they need more time to convert models from Wii U to 3DS. Also they might need to tweaks some characters' movesets to make sure that they work on 3DS, namely multi-characters such as Ice Climbers.

Is the official name for this character now "Pikmin & Olimar"? It was "Captain Olimar" in Brawl, right? I wonder if the announcer is going to say "Pikmin & Olimar" when you pick him. Sounds weird. Maybe they're writing that on the page just to give Pikmin 3 some advertisement.

Pretty sure they were revealed officially after it came out in Japan.

I see, then we have a long way to go... sigh...

It was like that on the Brawl Dojo too.

The announcer actually said Pikmin & Olimar on the character select screen in Brawl. He shortened it to Olimar for the result screens though.

I mentioned it in other thread, that I noticed that on Olimar only have up to 3 pikmins in the pictures.

I recalled that they shown 5 pikmins during Brawl Dojo Update.

Yeah that was my reasoning too. But I think it kind of hurts their PR towards the 3DS version. I know it's better to promote with the better looking game but it's not about that...

No kidding? I've played Brawl for so many hours but I really can't remember that. I could've sworn he said "Captain Olimar". I barely ever play(ed) as him though. You're probably right.

Sweet, Olimar was my main in Brawl. And the new Pikmin stage (or at least what we can see of it in the screenshots) looks awesome too,

Definitely. I'm concerned that he mightn't get Poltergust after see Olimar not getting Rock and Flying Pikmin.

With the exception of Pokemon stuff, Smash characters typically only reference games that were released before Smash starts development. Luigi could have the Poltergust, since Luigi's Mansion was released a decade ago and they knew another was coming, but no new Pikmin is not surprising.

On a side note, notice that there's never more than 3 Pikmin in a screen? Wasn't the Brawl limit 5?

I'm excited for this game. I think it will excel on the 3ds. However, I'm embittered that it's coming out 3 years after the launch of the 3ds itself. This game should have been a launch title or at least within a year of the 3ds release. Downright shameful on Nintendo's part imo...

They revealed the wrong Captain first :p

Glad to see Olimar's return.

Hope that Pikmin stage is actually fun to play on compared to the one in Brawl.

I remember people were swearing Olimar was gone and would either be replaced with a Pikmin 3 character or wouldn't return at all because he wouldn't work on the 3DS. Nice to see him back.
