Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

#5 is weird because Japanese people will have no idea who he is. Most westerners won't either. Which might be acceptable if they ever planned to use him again.

And 7 out of the 10 are third-parties.

I liked the video. Sure most of their choises will never come true but it still a good video that got me hyped and happy.

Geoff's mocking of Wii Fit Trainer makes so much (less?) sense now.

Aside from Little mac this might be one of the craziest lists I've seen. I'm surprised Goku's not on there.

Just #6?

Try the entire list. #9 is laughable (hint: it's a character that's commonly requested on Gfaqs) and #5 is especially egregious, since they
haven't actually been in a game since the 90s.

I only pointed out 6 since it stuck out to me the most. Least they didn't ask for Cloud or Lightning.. ugh.

Crono isn't relevant enough to be in Smash. Geno could be a cool addition but same issue as Crono. Professor Layton might work. Captain N would be a nice choice but I don't think that's going to happen for several reasons.

I find Tetris Man an interesting idea though (but I haven't watched the vid, so I have no idea what their idea for Tetris Man is like). Won't happen though. I think Miis are likely, the idea of them has potential.

As a Wishlist... it's sort of an okay list. But as predictions? Terrible.

I was thinking how Olimar has only three Pikmins down from five. (Maybe they couldn't handle five pikmins in 3DS?)

Since the reduced number of Pikmin will significantly nerf his up recovery move, do you think we'll have Flying Pikmin as his recovery? Given how Pit got huge makeover, this is possible.

He was able to command up to 6 Pikmin in Brawl, not 5.

If they wanted to address a couple of Olimar's weaknesses in Brawl, they could work them into a couple of his special moves. Maybe replace the Pikmin chain with Flying Pikmin, and change the Pikmin call into something more useful like a Rock Pikmin counter, and buff the attacking Pikmin to compensate for not being able to call them back after a toss.

The only concern would be that baking them into the moveset kind of goes against the design of the character, but there are options to work them in, if they want to. Pikmin 3's been in development long enough that they've probably been able to consider it since before Smash 4 started development.

His reliance on the Pikmin will always be a weakness, but if we're going to assume he only has 3 Pikmin following him now (which I'm not really sure is the case), then his bad recovery has just become godawful. Revamping a couple of his moves wouldn't necessarily remove all his weak points, even if they help him out in a few places he suffered in before.

Flying pikmin should be his B up. I'd love Olimar to be good so I can use him.

As much as I loved Olimar in Brawl, I think he needed to be changed up a bit. He doesn't have the greatest mobility in the air and his recovery was bad too. Just relying on the pikmin chain is asking to get punished.

You guys realize that Olimar is top tier in Brawl, right? He's #3 right now. He doesn't need buffs at all. If you give him no weaknesses he'll be just as overpowered as Meta Knight.

And I liked the Pikmin chain. It was a risk/reward of using all the pikmin to fight and killing them, or saving them in case you have to recover.

Like you said, Olimar was already really good in Brawl, so you can't just give him good recovery on top of everything else.

Is anyone else planning on buying a Wii U for this game despite having a 3DS already? I'm excited for the portable version and all, but it definitely won't be the same experience, namely because I wanna have couch multiplayer

Crono is the only character bar Mac I can stomach from that list. Layton isn't bad though, just indifferent.

Little Mac doesn't need to be on the list. We already know he is in Smash 4. *Tyson wink*

Most of that list is an absolute joke if you ask me. It's filled with characters owned by Square-Enix. If Sakurai wanted to get Sora, he'd have to deal with Disney AND Square, which make that choice a pretty big stretch. Captain N is just a cartoon character, and the Tetris idea is laughable at best. Now if Tetris got a stage, THAT would be just fine.

Everything else sounds okay. Bayonetta would probably be a tad too much for Smash Bros with her guns and all. I could see Wonder Red working.

I always liked the idea of a Tetris stage. I am of the opinion that some of the best Tetris titles were developed by Nintendo, and because of that, I kinda see it as an honorary 1st party IP.

The Tetris music in Brawl was such a tease. Would be great to see a proper Tetris stage with that music this time around.

Tetris as a stage would be cool to see. Or perhaps as an Assist Trophy, where the music changes and blocks start falling from the sky. Either way, I'd welcome Tetris being represented in SSB again since it got its popularity thanks to the GB and NES versions.

In what universe would Captain N be a nice choice for smash :/

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Tetris get a playable character. Sakurai's made gold from shit as far as movesets go before, and it IS the greatest video game of all time after all. It'd be cool just to see how he'd approach it.

In what universe would Captain N be a nice choice for smash :/

It's the same universe where Goku, Mrs. Butterworth, Captain Planet, Mickey Mouse, Alf, Maggie Simpson, Walter White, and Cloud are good choices.

It's not that bad considering his show was pretty much about Nintendo. Even his name is pretty much "Captain Nintendo".

I mean it's never likely since he never appeared in a video game nor did he originated as a game character. But I feel it would be an interesting choice due to his background. He's not comparable to those characters at all, but whatever.

Sometimes I think people think that Smash Bros is actualy a copy of Playstation All Stars.

The only third party character that makes ANY sense there is Belmont.
Bayonetta makes as much sense to be on smash than DARK COLE makes to be on PSABR =P

Sadly, neither Crono, Sora, Layton or Geno belong to videogame history next to the likes of Mega Man, Sonic and Snake.
Besides, Sora would bring copyright HELL because of the Disney atachment.

Captain N can be this version's ROB bizarre left field stuff that nobody remembered.
(I really doubt he belongs to Nintendo right now)

Mii and Little Mac are what everyone is asking since Japan Time

Also, a transforming L block would make more sense than "Tetris Man" =P

But yeah I guess it's not a good choice since he never appeared in a video game nor did he originated as a game character.

I followed your logic but it didn't stop me from taking the left turn to Assholeville.

I don't want to create a thread for this, so maybe here is a good place to ask you guys...

Can a WiiU play digital games from different regions from where you bought it?

For example, can I buy a UK WiiU and create an US Eshop account to buy all my games digitally there?

The WiiU costs 600 USD where I live, and I'll be on London for a few days next week so I was thinking of buying it on UK Amazon right now since they are offering a good discount.

His show was SSB before there was SSB. Nothing wrong with acknowledging history. Plus the actual quality of old works means nothing of the quality of new works. I always felt Captain N could be done better & deserved a reboot.

Don't blame me, blame it on the rain.

I like your avatar. I am really curious to see how Bowser plays now...

Rain is good. Makes me so relaxed (ღ˘‿˘ღ)

I have a feeling he'll be mostly the same, although I wonder if he'll get buffed or nerfed this time. I just have this avatar because I really think it's a cool sprite.

Sakurai sharing the responsibility of balancing the game makes me hopeful for characters like Bowser. His moveset has always been cool but I always feel so vulnerable playing as him.

His show sucked and he sucked!

Look at this douche, i couldn't stand him. No reboot please :(

If it was good, then it wouldn't be Captain N. The show is so painfully late 80s that a reboot could never do it justice.

So, I just realized... there are no handheld Pikmin games. What are they going to do about Pikmin stages in the 3DS version?

They probably won't do anything! I wouldn't mind if a lot of characters didn't really have a home stage on the 3DS version if it means we get a lot of handheld game stages.

So, I just realized... there are no handheld Pikmin games. What are they going to do about Pikmin stages in the 3DS version?

Or a handheld Wii Fit, for that matter. Though I don't think it matters much. Sakurai created a Kid Icarus stage for Brawl, and that was just referencing NES levels. If they want a Pikmin stage on 3DS, they can make it happen. They put a Pictochat stage on Brawl, after all. I think it can work both ways.

That said, I'd love to see some eShop-based 3DS levels.

I can see them promoting a Captain N special Mii if Mii characters are announced. And if they don't, we'll surely make a standard GAF Captain N and put the QR on the OT. :)

Here's someone's effort, and that's even before the superior 3DS/Wii U Mii creator:

As for Tetris Man, that's a bad idea. A Tetris stage would be brilliant, but a Tetris character wouldn't really show off much of what Tetris is. Brawl has Tetris theme songs, so, we know it's possible. I had made a Tetris Stage on the Stage creator, but I guess without interaction it doesn't end up too good.

Sora, Crono and Captain N are laughable choices. Tetris would never work as a character, I have my doubt Layton would as well, but who knows? Mii could happen, but I wouldn't be thrilled about it; Simon Belmont hasn't the popularity and backing of guys like Sonic and Megaman, so I doubt it. Bayonetta would feel weird in Smash, but we had Snake before, so it could happen. Little Mac will definitely be playable, especially due to the Punch-Out!! remake.

Now, serious question, why are you all saying that Geno is impossible? Is there a reason I'm not aware of, or do you just not like it as a possible character?

I don't even get what was so appealing about Geno in the first place. That's not to say he won't be in, in a world where we have Wii Fit Trainer who fucking knows, but I surmise his chances ain't high.

Only one on that list I'd be interested in playing is Geno.

Of course, I'd play as Simon, but I'd rather have Super Castlevania IV Simon.
