Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Waluigi would be the most pointless fighter ever. He's hardly in any significant games to be even worth it.

Do you guys want Ridley as a fighter or villain again?

Ridley with out a doubt deserves to be in the spot light as a fighter. I don't see how people want him again reused as a boss. Master and Crazy Hands are one thing but if any of the Subspace bosses return that would be so disappointing. Not dissapointing that they weren't playable but the simple fact that other bosses weren't chosen from the vast Nintendo universe.

So I made an imgur album of different characters' appearances in different smash games cuz I was bored, check it out http://imgur.com/a/Ruha9#0

So...
Mario gets cooler and much more badass.
Link seems more mature, as he grew up game after game.
Kirby gets rounder.
Pikachu's nose seems to get smaller. And it's cuter.
Samus seems to be polishing her suit more on every new game.
Donkey Kong obviously gets more fur on every game. By the next three or four games he will be like a Piloswine Kong.
Fox hasn't many changes from Brawl.
Bowser's colour gets lighter and lighter.
Olimar and Pikmins are about the same.
Pit seems more anime like.

Well, size is a reasonable issue.

I mean, you can't shrink him down to Bowser-ish size since he'll look stupid next to other fighters and his giant size may mean he'll graphically clip too much, be a walking target, etc.

I'm not sure, but I think it's a bit of a large request. It'd be nice though.

Why? He wouldn't look stupid. Unless you consider Bowser to look stupid, because they shrunk him down.

I could easily see them shrinking this down:

Size isn't Ridley's problem -- scale is. Those Ridley Brawl mods look awful, and I doubt Sakurai would be content with something like that.

I'm planning on adding to it as more veteran characters are revealed.

Nice little gallery!

I'm so glad they decided to up the saturation across the board for the returning characters... especially characters like Mario. (now if only he'd smile!... I sorta feel like the Smash games have never fully nailed the right charm and feel for Mario, which is so odd seeing as how he *is* Nintendo)

Bowser definitely seems the most improved; I just love how he looks. Samus is a slight step in the wrong direction for me, as I thought her Brawl design was perfection. Oh well... still love how everything looks overall!

I never understood the clamoring for Ridley as a playable character in Smash. Just don't see the appeal. I won't be sad or bitter or anything if he's announced -- I'm not AGAINST it -- I just don't get why some people want him so badly.

Since Mega Man's already in, the character I think I'm most hoping for is Krystal. I think she could be really fun to use. Dixie Kong could be neat too, but having her and Diddy (if he returns) would be overkill and she probably wouldn't end up being that different from Diddy, so maybe not.

I also think Ghirahim could be a fun character, but he might end up being too similar in concept to Marth...

He's the most recurring character in Metroid besides Samus. Plus his design is cool. He looks goofy in Other M though.

Is it just me, or does the overall art style, graphics, and color scheme make this game look a LOT more like a bunch of Nintendo characters fighting? Brawl looked nice, but had kind of a weird realistic art style.

I'm sure that's the intention here. Hyperealistic Mario's a cool idea on paper, but in practice it just looks funny.

Yeah, this game looks fantastic. It's so vibrant and colorful. Each returning character looks much better than they did in Brawl, especially Bowser and Mario.

Am I the only one who thinks Ridley from the Metroid series should be a playable character in Nintendo's "Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U"?

If they were to go with a character from one of the Wii fantasy game I'd rather they go with one that came out outside of Japan like Xenoblade, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower or even better Disaster Day of Crisis.

Hope Sakurai puts in fluffy baby Ridley just to shut all of us up

But that's not actually Ridley.

That's actually a creature composed of a plethora of Zebes creature DNA mashed together. Including what was left of Ridley. That's part of why Ridley in M: OM is so disproportionate.

----------------------

Clearly all must agree that Ridley is too big a character to leave out entirely. Chew on my semantics.

Ok then I hope they put in plethora of zebes creature DNA meshed together baby fake fluffy Ridley in to really really shut all of us up

I don't know, Frey looks pretty cool, and main character designs for Xeno and Last Story were sort of bad.

Reginleiv was a Wii Exclusive game only released in Japan. The name literally meant "The Slashing of the Gods".

It was much like a musou game but with 2 characters and multiple weapons.

Except Bowser shows up in his Smash Bros. size all of the time. He is that size in Super Mario RPG, the Paper Mario games, the Mario Kart games, the Mario and Sonic Olympics games, and pretty much any other appearance that isn't actually one of the core platformers. Bowser being roughly twice the size of Mario is a very common and familiar size for him to have.

On the other hand, Ridley is big. The only appearance he makes where he was small was his original NES version, and every Nintendo boss was that size in those days. All of them have since been seriously upgraded in size since, along consistent lines. Compare NES Zelda bosses, such as the Gohma, to their N64 versions. Or compare the NES Kid Icarus bosses to their Uprising versions. Ridley is an example of a boss that was only ever small because of NES sprite limitations. He is an example of an entire category of Nintendo bosses that were dramatically upsized as soon as the technology improved.

Yeah, but those reasons alone aren't very compelling ones to put him in Smash. I don't know, just seems like there are more inspired/appropriate choices out there. But like I said, if he gets in, I'll be curious to see how he plays!

Oh my God, what kind of abomination is that?

I actually enjoyed Ridley's inclusion in SSE. Really all the bosses should have been from games. Not all references have to be in the form of a fighter.

Squeak from Wario's Woods has a better chance at being a playable character.

Like all characters he could definitely have a cool moveset if they wanted it, especially if he uses some grab/grapple moves. It would be interesting if he was an aerial grapple-type character.

It's a lot of people wanting another Metroid slot though, because it's one of the bigger series that still only has one slot, with ZSS being a transformation.

Oh my God, what kind of abomination is that?

So bad. The dumb long claws, knee spikes, and hexagon wings.

Sakurai counts Samus and Zero Suit Samus as 2 characters in the same way he counts Zelda and Sheik as two characters.

Yeah.

Let's change the subject. This Ridley debate is so tired.

How could they make Meta Knight less OP without ruining his moveset?

Give every character except Meta Knight Marth's counter special.

Bower can change size and size is mechanic in the Mario games. Plus bowsers purpose is far different from space firebrand

They adjust every character in the game's size, not just Bowser.

Pikachu should only come up to your shins, yet he's much bigger in Smash, for example.
Olimar is fucking microscopic and yet he's playable. When Snorlax attacks on screen he's like the size of a damn planet. Size doesn't matter in Smash, period.

It shouldn't matter. Since everyone is technically a figurine brought to life.

Maybe nerf his shuttle loop a little bit and take out infinite dimensional cape and such. Maybe not make every single move have transcending priority. Maybe lessen the amount of jumps he can do. I dunno, I think there are a lot of ways you can tone him down without ruining him completely. I imagine his specials and such will remain largely the same and he'll still be a super fast, super flashy character. I mean that's all the really need to do, a slight tone-down, because he's certainly not an insta-win button.

I honestly cannot think of a big enough moveset you could even give Ridley.
Really? It's not that hard. They could give him bites, scratches, and tail whips/stabs for his standard attacks. His special moves could include fire/plasma balls, dragging the opponent along the ground, flight, et cetera.

Besides, all Zero Suit Samus does in Zero Mission is fire her gun horizontally. Sakurai fleshed her out into a full character. He also designed move sets from scratch for Fox, Captain Falcon, R.O.B., and others.

Hit everything.

Nerf his damage, make his moves have less frame advantage, find a way to balance his range (thedisjointed hitbox on his normals are bullshit) nerf his recovery, nerf his stupidly good specials (Tornado and Shuttle Loop are absurd, just WHY), nerf his stupidly good kill moves (oh yeah, MKs a fast damaging dealing character with great kill moves. Awesome, right?)

Basically, they should destroy him and then rebuild him from the ground up. I'm sorry, but they absolutely should take away some his options. A single character can't have that much speed, range, priority, recovery and power, it's practically unheard of.
