Evolution 2013 IOT2I Gods Among Losers Final Day - July 14th

My hypest moments of each day

Day 1: AE: OnlineTony vs Chris G, AE Semis

Day 2: P4A after hours suite. Bananamerica
never forget

Day 3: Marvel Finals, KOF Grand Finals.

Alright guys

Time to speculate on what games make it to next year

Reminder: everyone was wrong last year
Ultra SFIV and Marvel are locks. SfxTk too, if people are still playing it. (Haven't been following it, so I don't know how the community has taken to it since the update).

Injustice will be back cause of WB monay. Hopefully, game will have evolved more and it will be more fun to watch (I love the game, but it is not made for spectators). I think MK is out.

Barring a cockblock from Nintendo, Smash will be back. Whether it will be the new one or Melee reminds to be seen. (I think the Smash community will push for Melee though)

KoF13 will be back. It's a crowd pleaser and a damn fine game.

Either the new Blazblue or Guilty Gear (assuming it's out) will be in for dat ANIMAY. Persona is out, obviously.

Tekken Tag is back, of course.

Don't see Killer Instinct making it.

Anything I missed?

KOF was intense before the reset, but after that it was free to Reynald. Marvel GF was hype from the beginning to the end, it went down the wire and it had many incredible clutch moments.

I think the best finals were KOF>Marvel>AE. Wasn't happy with Marvels outcome at all, wanted Xian to take AE.

I don't give a shit about smash or injustice. But I really didn't like the finals for injustice, yuck.

IMO, I think SF was the better GF. I mean, UMVC3 is my game and all and my peoples lost (Christ Geezus and Fchamp) so I wasn't emotionally invested in that GF. However, Jwong was just...amazing to say the least and to get that far on just skill alone is pretty freaking amazing.

Xian on the other hand. He was always my favorite to win evo. After he beat diago in that f10 it was all high hopes from there on out. He's the best.

He lost a grand final against Infiltration a couple of months ago, but he left me impressed. I said back then that he was really close to being on par with him, but he actually managed to improve since then. Now he's probably the best SFIV player in the world, especially when you look at his character.

KoF finals for me. Reynald won my heart! Seriously, dude is an absolute showman and he shined brightest in adversity. He got his immediate revenge against Verna, against MAD from last year (counterpicking with Takuma? Shout outs to Bala?), and beat Wuu six games straight from being on the ropes all in the hypest fashion.

I thoroughly enjoyed Marvel and AE as well, though. CRUSHED last year in terms of hype.

KoF had a last minute reset and the guy from loser's actually won, and it resulted in a stick toss.

Hard to top that.

Just cause he won doesn't make it more entertaining. Especially cause the guy in losers came back and dominated in his victories but there was alot of clutch moments with Justin/Flocker that made it close and more entertaining

Smash 4 making release in 2014? lol
I think Killer Instinct might make it.
I agree with the rest. BlazBlue CP is likely the anime game lock.

I found the SF one pretty boring if i have to be sincere...
If i have to rank the finals my list would be:
KOF
Marvel
Super Smash Bros Melee
SF:AE12
Injustice

Evo was awesome this year. I was busy most of the day so I missed Marvel top 8, but AE really surprised me this year. I haven't played the game seriously in forever but it was just super hype this year with stuff like PR Rog vs. Infiltration.

Gonna watch the top 8 for Marvel and Persona tomorrow.

So hey, how about that Killer Instinct......

Killer Instinct could have a chance if it is the only major next generation fighting game released by the next EVO in presumably July 2014. But then again, that could either make or break the game alone considering how limited the Xbone install base will be by that time compared to 360/PS3.

That and having a combo breaker every other second didn't help

Yea I was really perplexed by the game, it was like if people who gathered together and made a game with no neutral whatsoever. They were either doing a combo or doing a combo breaker and each hit did less damage than jab in any other game.

Salty Bet was so much fun, and had me more invested in matches... But I would often forget to place a bet. They should add a audible tone for when the bets are open or something.

They do Salty Bet for other events, too, right?

While I really like Injustice, MK's top 8 was so much better.

I really hope Injustice evolves tremendously next year. Seeing three Supermans and two Black Adams in top 8 was terrible. Really wanted to see that Raven (Blind Ducky I think?) make it in. Would have made a much more interesting finals.

I know they had it for Curleh Mustache so we'll probably see more of it.

Personally I just find NRS games clunky to watch for some reason.

It seems that way since the Illuminati premium membership has a year-round payment plan.

My thoughts on the finals:

KoF: I woke up half way through top 8, but what I saw was hype as usual. GF's was a blowup though.

Smash: Started slow, but was great in the middle. GF was an absolute mauling though.

Injustice: Like I said, it's a great game to play, but not made for spectators. lol Still, there were some great matches. Hypest moment was getting to finally see some Wonder Woman play. (Of course, I'm a Diana main, so I'm probably biased).

Killer Instinct: This game looks bad, guys.

Marvel: Best of the night. Watching Justin Wong's rise to Grand Finals was amazing. Bummed he didn't win, but Flocker deserved it.

AE: I'll be honest, I didn't really watch AE. I don't know; I just can't get into SF4 like I used to be. Probably because I don't really play it anymore. Still, I did watch GF, and Xian's Gen is simply amazing. Happy he won because he really deserved it.

This was just a great day to be a fan of fighting games. Seeing all these amazing players and people give their all to something they love, something that for them has been a positive force in their lives, was incredible and I can't wait to see it all again next year. Hopefully, I'll be there live myself.

Best Evo yet.

It's not even a contest for me. That was the best Marvel play I've ever seen in my life. If Wong wouldn't have dropped that Storm combo on a pixel Zero, the place would still be exploding. And Smash was amazing throughout. I need SSB4 to be that good.

I can't imagine next year topping this.

Alright guys

Time to speculate on what games make it to next year

Reminder: everyone was wrong last year

I think they will do 8 or 9 next year

Ultra SF4
UMCV3 (hopefully with a patch)
SFxT (unfortunately)
Smash Brothers of some kind
Tekken Tag 2 (SCV side tournament)
KOF XIII (assuming there is no new KOF)
Persona 4 or Guilty Gears

I think MK9 gets cut unless WB throws in a large pot bonus.
Killer Instinct maybe (this honestly may not happen because of the cost of the xbox one and other logistics)
Injustice

My hype ranking is:

Marvel>>>>>Melee=KOF>>SF4>P4A>>>>Injustice

I didn't watch any SFxT or MK9. Or any of the side tournaments. Marvel was easily the most exciting, especially after a bunch of mediocre majors, which was really nice. Melee was really hype to me, in part because that's easily my favorite game of the bunch, but Wobbles and Mango both had some really interesting stuff. I didn't watch any KoF last year but everyone said it was the most hype, so I was sure to tune in, and you guys were right! I'm not a big fan of actually playing KoF but it's a LOT of fun to watch. SF4 and P4A seemed pretty typical to me, they both felt kind of like just majors with a lot more entrants than normal to me. SF4 was still a lot of fun to watch though. P4A was a little disappointing, it's another favorite of mine to play but it wasn't as fun to watch as some of the other games. Injustice was really dull and I feel like that's one of those games where a decent amount of the players who are top aren't even making it their main game.

Overall that was amazing though, I thought I was going to end up disappointed when I was getting myself hyped up earlier this year since in previous years it was more like something where I was like "Oh it's on, I guess I'll watch," and then I end up enjoying it a fair amount. But I pretty much watched all day for three days while playing my 3DS this year and I had a ton of fun.

Also, forgot about SFxT. I guess I'd put that right behind P4A. I didn't watch much of it though.
