Wow, that's so cool.

Too much background lighting particle effects, back to training stage.

Seriously though, grass stage would have been awesome. They could have made 3 different variations of it too that could have all been cool in their own way. A grass stage where it's snowing and the some nice little detail like the snow crunches with every step you take? Awesome.

EVO thoughts to share

KOF TOP 8

was the stuff of dreams, heart attacks, and rage all perfectly packed into that time slot. Reynald climb the mountain to redemption and the title over the bodies of too many killers. Yo ugh

Smash was mad hype but it was mainly because of the slat though. I kid, the Smash community came out in full force and did their thing. I was excited like hell!

Marvel

....I mean so many thoughts. Cloud revealed some tech with Dante but he couldn't beat Justin. Cloud 805 did beat FChamp though! I loved seeing him lose, yeah, yeah I'm a hater. Chris G vs Justin; J is so patient and has those years of tournaments in him so his blood is icy & his mental game is solid. Chris quite literally had it all in his hands but 1 bad mix up...damn..oh well. Then Flocker repping the almighty East Coast with Zero. Nice!

SSFIVAE

To see a counter pick that may have not worked. Infiltration was on point agianst his match with PR Rog, I have to give credit to Xian major though. The man defeated a homey with a character no one plays. Singapore!!

P4A

I loved watching Domi advance into the Top 8. I thought LK had it but alas top tier robots girls can not be beaten! It was soo good to watch Persona. Probably my favorite game to play and watch right now. Highly doubt it'll be there next year. Well...unitl BBCP comes out ahaha.

Skullgirls

.....Hype

Injustice

I admit I know little about it but it was cool to see what high level play is like.

It was so worth staying up late to watch it all. Next Year!!!

Cross-post from the Evo thread:

For everyone that's wondering, SFxT was pretty shitted on by the Evo planning folks. Setups didn't have the update or DLC chars so we got delayed. The stream setup and finals setup were in the corner and never got any stage time either. Pretty typical bullshit.

Pool play was still pretty amazing though but there really is no defense for treating a game like that, regardless of personal feelings toward the game.

Cross-post from the Evo thread:

Do the EVO folk hate it or something? I feel like it has been treated pretty well at other tournies this year. I would hate to see the new SF4 just take all the air out of SFxT. Stuff like this just makes it more likely.

Honestly, it's generally treated pretty shitty. There are pockets where it's treated well, usually by the more fair-minded folks but a lot of times, it's just not given the correct treatment either because they didn't prepare properly or it doesn't get the spotlight it should have.

Let me put it this way. There were only two finals not shown on the main stage. One was SFxT and the other was MK9. However, MK9 was played on a secondary stage in the other hall and had its own stream supported by the Evo staff. our pool play was relegated to sitting in the corner of the main hall, crowding up with the 3rd stream and that's where our finals were played. We didn't even get stage time.

I'm happy that Slash was the one doing our finals (he's the guy that was handling the 3rd stream the entire time) but I really wanted folks like Jibbo, TZA, and Esuta to get to sit up there and play.

Him beating Rog made me salty. Rog legit had his number but he lost because he was playing to sporadic and fell for every one of Hakan's gimmicks as a result. Genius move by infiltration to take advantage of that but you can't help but feel Rog left something on the table.

that last Hakan/Balrog match was so fucking nutty

you could feel the pressure and immensity

He wilds out and sometimes it works totally in his favor, but someone like Infiltration can maintain that calm and just sit there and block for the opening, like during that last series at the end of the match.

Even though SFxT is the worst thing to ever happen to fighting games, this is not cool.

Cross-post from the Evo thread:
SFxT isn't the only game with this problem, though. Other games have been played without updates before, and several times on stream I saw that the Marvel setup didn't have the two DLC characters. I don't take that as a slight against Marvel, though. It was probably just poor planning.

So how did you like your Evo experience overall?

Man , i went back and watched some matches of Infiltration at last years EVO and it was like he was another player then. Something happened. I think personal issues got to him, what is up with all the beef between him and laugh. Not couching each other, not talking, turning back, ect.

He was so utterly dominant EVO 2012... this year it was like... I just don't understand. I've made my peace with it but it's very confusing to me.

Or maybe like FChamp he wasn't as hungry despite playing well. The field for the game is extremely strong and people are getting better.

Man, I don't want to make work for you- but if there's no archive or anything, and as one of the apparently few who care- would you mind giving a mini rundown of how the sfxt tourney went?

Honestly I think fatigue bodied a lot of the SF4 guys last year. Almost everyone looked like they were running on fumes by the time SF4 finally got started.

I really wonder why rog didnt switch to fei after the hakan switch. I guess spd punish on rekkas/not really knowing the match up made him stay w/ rog.

Doesn't flocker have a team with strider on anchor instead of hawkeye? I believe he pulled it out before and did pretty well with it. That and I don't understand why in some games when he as down to hawkeye versus akuma and akuma had no meter, he didnt go for the chip setups with triple piercing and triple arrow or is that only an xfactor thing

That JWong Storm comeback came from a raw S beating an air move. I had no idea S as an antiair was that good. I know at range its hard to punish.
Really? The graphic is pretty huge. It has more range than Dormammu's s.S. Just look at the height people combo off of it with after using Typhoon.

Storm's S is one of the best launchers in the game. Huge hit box and safe on block. And he beat out Shell Kick with it which was even more impressive.

It's not safe on block. Check you guide. Unless it's wrong. There's a reason why Storm players don't throw it out often.

Proud of Jibbo finally getting a top 8, he's been plugging away for a long time. I think he might be done now though.
He really had a ton of knowledge and shared it.

Anybody considering going to EVO next year for the first time? I'm definitely considering it.

Hoping next year does it. 20 years since I started playing fighters, never had the combo of time+money to do it. (This year I couldn't get the time off)

The only game that Infiltration looked weak in was the match against Tokido but then I search youtube and found this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjXxAqtEZtM

One month after EVO2012. Tokido is Infiltration's demon. Another strange thing is that Infiltration can dismantle Xian but Tokido gets bodied but Tokido can body Pr Rog while Infiltration struggles in that match up.

Storm players throw it out very frequently when on the ground. Fanatiq does it a lot. I played a lot of Storm in Vanilla, was never punished out of it. I always assumed that Storm, Akuma, Wesker, Ryu and Doom had safe launchers, the first 3 characters I played a lot.

PR Rog did used to be Tokido's demon for quite awhile. Seems like Tokido overcame it, which Infiltration started to as well in that losers set.

Hum, you're right. Storm is just -1. Maybe it was worse in Vanilla? I swear I looked it up once a long time ago and was dismayed. I got rid of my Vanilla guide, so if anyone still has it and would check for me, much obliged. I'd like to know if my memory is off or if it got buffed.

Either way, that changes the way I look at Storm!

I just wish she could effectively be on the same team as Dormammu, and didn't reference Black Panther. :-P

I like how Yipes has been demoted for Flocker.

It's the correct call, even before EVO.
The call was made ~2 months ago.

So does this mean Flocker is the only Marvel god now?
He's not even the top god. One or two majors does not make one Zeus. A good order might be:

1) ChrisG
2) Flocker
3) JWong
4) PR Balrog
5) FChamp

And FChamp is basically where Yipes was a year ago. He needs to step up his game or someone like Cloudius or Angelic will bounce him out. Then again, PR Balrog retired, so...

1 and 2, and 4 and 5, could be exchanged.
