US/CAN Club Nintendo Thread: New and improved. Read the OP.

Have they ever run out of stock for the Platinum/Gold prizes?

Lol I stressed about nothing. Managed to ask my sibling to login for me and claim my prize. I only wanted the Pikmin 3 poster from that poster set so I went for the Majoras Mask OST. The new wind waker poster is nice. But they don't have any mention of whether they will be using the same material as the old wind waker poster(which looked godly). Regardless I can always get the pikmin 3 poster for a decent price off Ebay but the CD will probably cost me more if I got the poster pack.

So how's that Sakura 3DS game? It's either that or the calendar for me if it's no so good.

What's the verdict on WarioWare? Is it even a full game?

I find it kind of ironic this was offered after the shutdown of Wiiconnect24, as that was a useful way to get microgames from people. I'd call it like half a game, because it only comes with 72 microgames. If you want to fiddle around with save files, people have saves of all the microgames from the old contests that were available to download, but a lot of those were terrible. It's useful if you have DIY, because you can store a lot more microgames, but I doubt anyone is even still playing that, so storage is probably no longer a concern for people at this point. I'd take it over a calendar, and it would be a toss-up between this and Super Mario Land because it's so short, but the other games on offer are better.

At least the Steam sale makes this month better. Guess they're holding off on a Luigi Cap until the Year of Yoshi next year, when they'll probably have fewer Platinum achievers. Been waiting on a coin monthly reward for Link's Awakening, but still going with the Platinum prize out of principle. :lol

I only earned Gold, but I will gladly pay $20 for that pikmin poster off of eBay.

Keep that in mind, those of you who are disappointed. Maybe 20 years from now, Nintendo collectors will pay good coin for that Luigi poster to add in their 2013 "Year of Luigi" memorabilia.

Ohhhhh, you don't know the prizes until they show up, and only those who got to that level can get them.

I thought the year started now and we could get those items if we got to gold/platinum during this year.

So it's a blind bet, pretty much. I see.

Yes, a blind bet for free stuff.

Hey, first time I joined Club Nintendo this last July, I didn't know how it work.

I have a couple DS games I never registered, so I was waiting for the things to show up to see if it was worth it to burn them codes or not. Turns out that was a bad move. I don't think I'd have enough to reach Plat, but Gold wouldn't be hard to get (as I already have 70 coins).

No biggie though. I would like to have gotten Links Awakening.. :(

Oh well. Next year!

Oh, I wasn't criticizing you. Now that you're more knowledgeable, I hope you enjoy the benefits of Club Nintendo.

I just find it amazing that people would throw words such as "loyalty" into something like this because the prizes are not their cup of tea. It's not like people are buying games for the codes, because that would be silly (yeah, there are probably some out there that bet on reselling platinum prizes for a profit).

The inclusion of games since last year (iirc) have been a great alternative in my opinion.

I wonder if people are thinking they'll get something grandiose like Square Enix Members.

The Digital Rewards always seemed a better alternative to me.

I'm suspicious to say, because I'm not actually from a place where Club Nintendo is available, so being able to cash in digital things is a good thing. :D

Anyone else seeing this happen?

I only really want the Zelda poster so I'll be selling the pikmin one.

Thanks. Yeah even though I've put a hundred hours into Smash, I've never owned it. Going with that.

Choosing a prize was an easy choice for me, the same as last year's: posters

I love posters

Probably going to redeem for a digital reward, although I'm not really interested in the titles offered (and already have Smash Bros.)

A long shot, but does anyone have any virtual console games (nes/snes/n64) they would like to trade for any of the available digital rewards?

Edit: Trade accepted by zeer0id. Thanks!

Meh I just went with the calendar. Worst prize year ever.

I haven't logged in in a while, but the regular merch has completely dwindled. New stuff incoming, or are they just winding down NA club nintendo?

I'm somewhat interested in Link's Awakening DX (already redeemed the soundtrack myself). I can't really gift you anything on VC -- well, I could, but I'd have to add 1000 points and then spend at least 5 dollars depending on what you wanted, so it doesn't make much sense when the game is already $5.99 on the eShop.

I would buy your LADX code though, if you're interested. I could part with like 4 bucks. Dunno if that's worth it to you, but yeah! Chances are you could sell something else for a lot more, realistically, so don't feel bad if you reject my proposal. :P

Was hoping they had something good as it is my first time being a platinum member...and I'm sorely disappointed. Would've like the figurine set or mario hat they had a few years ago. Didn't know which to choose between the poster and cd, so I went for the cd =/

US user here. I've got Gold status, but would love to get those posters. Any platinum coders who want to trade, that would be fantastic, just shoot me a PM. Thanks!

Complaints about not getting what you want for your "loyalty" always confused me. I get a free soundtrack or 3 free posters for buying what I was going to buy anyway? That's a pretty nice "thank you" to me. Sony doesn't give me anything for buying games on PS3 or PSV. Actually even outside of gaming I can't think of anyone (besides Square, but I've stopped getting their rewards since they decided to release a billion western games instead) that gives me anything as a yearly "thank you" for buying things.

In my opinion Nintendo goes beyond anything they need to do here. And I'm thankful for that even if the reward isn't the best thing ever.

Oh well. Majora's CD here we go.

I still use the cards from last year's Platinum a lot. Great prize, better than the useless pins IMO.
This year, however... what a joke; can't really complain since it's free, though.

This is probably the worst year for Platinum rewards IMO.

I don't want posters.

I don't want a CD.

I don't want calenders.

And I don't want to ebay them either.

I wish Platinum status members could've chosen to redeem 2 DD games... but then I'd wish for a WAY better game selection.

*sigh* I guess Zelda DX it is. Even though I still have the cartridge and a GBA, might as well have every Zelda game from NES to GC & GB to 3DS playable on my 3DS.

Only got to gold and I bought Sakura Samurai and Super Mario Land for my Japanese 3DS. I also picked up a Japanese cartridge of Link's Awakening DX. Maybe I'll just get the calendar, but I won't even be back in the US until it's halfway over.

It's because they've had much better rewards in the past and other countries get better rewards.

Every year the US rewards have gotten worse. Mario figurine -> Mario buttons -> Mario playing cards or posters -> posters or MM soundtrack.

Nintendo set a baseline and then went below it.

I'm torn between the posters and the soundtrack. Digital rewards are a waste since I can buy those any time I want; I want something physical and unique I can't get anywhere else. The soundtrack seems like a nice collector's item, but it's not really something interesting to display. The posters are nicer to display, but I already have posters from last year. The Wind Waker and Pikmin 3 ones are nice, Luigi one not so much; last year had a Luigi's Mansion poster and that glows in the dark.

I just assumed it was based on Nintendo's performance in that region. A few years ago the Wii was still the hottest thing. Now Nintendo is not doing so well in North America.

Japan gets better rewards but Nintendo is #1 in Japan with 3DS.

i never got a majora's mask soundtrack, so i'm pretty cool with getting it. i'm hoping a tww soundtrack might be around the corner with tww hd. of course, we probably would have heard something of the sort by now if that was the case.

Club Nintendo should be an incentive to support Nintendo. People buy and register more games than they normally would have to spend $600 a year on the promise of a neat $5 trinket. With the rewards getting worse, people feel bad about giving that extra support this year and fewer people are anticipating the following year.

The obvious elephant in the room is whether this is indication of a coming Majora's Mask remake, probably next year after LttP2 is out worldwide. Seems a weird one-off Club Nintendo reward if a Majora's Mask remake isn't in the works.

I find it hard to believe that people only buy games like SMT4 or Pikmin 3 or whatever the qualifying game is just for a chance to get a Club Nintendo Platinum reward. We buy those games because we want to play them. And the reward is just a bonus that they really don't have to give us at all but choose to.

If you are talking about people finding deals like Steel Diver for $0.99 just for the Club Nintendo points then sure. But I'm pretty sure Nintendo isn't going to miss those purchases.

I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. I didn't mean to start an argument or anything.
Are people really going to stop buying games they want to play because Club Nintendo might not give them the rewards they dream of? Or have people really been buying a lot of games at full price that they do not want to play at all just to get Platinum status?

I always just got Platinum doing what I was going to do anyway. I give a lot of companies a lot of money and Nintendo (and Square before) are the only one to actually be like, "Hey here's something extra for just being you!"
And sure, I sometimes think, "Aww, this isn't an awesome Pikmin bag or a cute Mario throw pillow," but then I immediately realise I just got something for basically doing nothing and I really appreciate that.

But I guess I understand why there are complaints. Things are less cool now and the regular reward store thing is like half empty now. I just personally feel like I don't really have the right to complain about whether the free thing I am getting is awesome enough for my standards. It could be way worse. Nintendo could be like everyone else and not even acknowledge me as a "loyal customer".

that's my assumption as well, with grezzo at the helm. we know that they kept grezzo on with that flower town streetpass game, and they're responsible for 2 3ds zelda games already.

my guess is that it's mid 2014. you can't streamline the pacing like tww hd or include another version of the game like oot 3d, so i wonder if they'd do anything else outside improving the graphics on level 3 and including a boss rush mode.
