Fighting Games Weekly | July 15-21 | Post-EVO Pillow Talk

Just wondering, I know I asked before but how many of you guys are xuandou zhiwang players? I know there are some of you who wanted a key but unfortunately didn't have one, but for that do, anyone want to get some games going?

edit: Heh made member, I don't think I even posted that much.

First off, that's Cold Shower. Always wondered why every commentator ever called it Wild Stomp.

Secondly, WHAT THE FUCK.
Because Wild Stomp is the actual name of the move in the DMC games.

That infinite IIRC is only possible on a turbo controller, I don't think I have ever heard of anyone being able to do it in a real match.

I always thought that Wild Stomp was the one where he was literally stepping on them shooting them. Man it really has been a long time since I actually played DMC3.

I'll say that either the people playing Glacius were doing it wrong from the tool set Ive seen or that his current self just doesnt work that good.

Game looks fun in a casual way

Yea but Wild Stomp came as a style cancel move as well so that's why people confuse the two.

Even the guy who used him during the demo?

That was the closest to what I would imagine he was designed to work as. But there was lots of little tricks I spotted that he could do that were not really showcased that much.

A shame it's a Microsoft IP though, I hope for a PC release in the future

I am not even from the Middle East, I am from South Asia technically speaking. And I have lived more in the US now. When it comes to Mahvel I am 100% AMERICAN! They don't call the 90% combo "Welcome to USA" for nothing.

The final match they showed seemed to show him off well, but yeah I'm not sure longterm how good his style will be in KI.

Did any GAFFER get hands on KI at EVO?? I mean minus Max of course he already gave impressions from E3 and EVO.
I did. It was okay. I didn't know what I was doing and just mashing. Never played it before.
The particle effects are way overdone. They've thrown every single effect from every fighting game into it. Screen shaking, fireballs exploding into a million particles, characters having an ink/shadow effect during supers... its distracting and makes it seem like there's no flow to the fighting.

Like in AE or Marvel once a combo starts you know where its gonna go. It was hard for me to gauge that in KI. Then again, I don't know shit about the series.

Trying to include a zoner in the KI game system is an interesting venture for them.

But I'm even more interested in seeing how they implement a grappler.

Ah ok.

I dig. When are you going to get a console and play Marvel online with us?

It's mostly Orb set ups, jump attack abuse to keep proper spacing, and well... not doing the AA chain so damn much.... wtf?

This was pretty much his alpha version though so things could improve
His jumping normals seem ridiculously good. Like, MvC2 Sentinel good.

I wonder if they will try to make one character keepaway-based.

Are you factoring in entrants?

Just assumptions that with the entrant numbers we're dealing with, 2 games having a $5k pot bonus (Divekick and Injustice) means whichever has the higher number of entrants among those 2 games pays out more than all games that don't have a bonus, which would mean Injustice paid out the most. Me and math don't get along, so could be wrong, and I don't know what percent of entry is used for the pot at Evo.

WOW NEMO GOT AWAY WITH THREE THOUSAND UNITED STATES DOLLARS!!!!

ALTOGETHER USA LOST 6 GRAND TO JAPAN!!!!!

Yeah, Frutsi was there and he told us Nemo was fucking destroying them...which he also did to us during the 6v6 Mexico vs Japan match we had.

I wouldn't know about proper way to play him, but I just want to say that those jumping normals felt like bullshit to deal with >_>

100% of the tournament entry goes into the prize pool. So SSF4 would have around a $16,000 pot, whereas Injustice was ~$11,000 (~$6,000 for entries plus $5,000 pot bonus). I'm not sure if Divekick was $5,000 added or $5,000 guaranteed.

Posted on the last page.

Every time there's a big Marvel tournament, I hope Capcom notices. I know the USA guys want to turn the hype into paper but they can't do shit. Capcom Japan really fucked up with that contract.
At least they are "listening".. whatever the fuck that means.

Is there a way to force Nintendo to see what went down at EVO 2013? Like show them how well Smash went down and how excited people were? I really don't think pleasing the casuals and the hardcore are necessarily opposed principles. I'm already confident that Sakurai will take Smash 4 in a direction that is more friendly to competitive players but I want Nintendo to actively engage the community in ways that the other fighting game devs do. The series is already huge but I feel like it could blow up even bigger if Nintendo just pushed it. Like couldn't they just hire someone from the Smash community and put them in a role similar to Combofiend has now?

In that case, Divekick's pot was around 8.5k since I remember I think it was Keits telling me the number of entrants was around 350.

Ugh I can't even watch that match. PR Rog, why you'd have to go in so hard at the end.

I don't understand why this dude is losing his shit either, as if Hakan loses to Balrog.

Watching the Skullgirls Top 8 stream now after seeing it live. Mike Z is a very awkward commentator.
I love Mike, especially when he gets into game development talk on Salty Cupcakes, but I've gotta agree. I hope they can find two just as knowledgeable dudes to do Top 8 for Skullgirls next year so people who aren't used to Mike's patented style aren't turned off from watching.

lol. I'm staying with relatives and my brother in law picked up AE but all we have here is stock xbox pads.
I feel your pain. When I visited CO with my sister and BIL recently, I had nothing but the 360 pad to play on. I swear I would hit all the same inputs and different stuff would come out in Tekken. My BIL actually believed that inputs produced random moves because the pad is so bad. I had to tell him the truth...
