Strider (Capcom/Double Helix, PC/PS4/XB1/PS360, 2014) [Open World, Orig Devs, Video]

I still have no idea how Double Helix were given the rights to Strider and Killer Instinct sequels. Hopeful for the games though, hopefully the Capcom devs keep the game on track to being decent.

Well I'm pretty sure they were picked from a pool of developers for Killer Instinct after showing Microsoft a great demo for Killer Instinct. For this one, maybe they did the same thing?

Character design is wrong already.

Funny, Dh working on sequels to both my all time favorite arcade, and most hated arcade ever

please let this play good. Have such fond memories of NES strider (even with its awful controls and platforming), please dont destroy them Capcom.

It could be possible that Capcom Japan is just using the HEX engine only, and that DH has no involvement with the game whatsoever, much like someone using the Unreal Engine.

Because aren't the creators of Strider like really anal about who uses their property?

So how are these "original devs" involved? Like the director/producers of Strider are working on it from the Capcom end while Double Helix does the grunt work?

Well whatever, I'm excited! Dunno which version I'll get between PS4 or Wii U.

I'll give Double Helix another shot. They've been forced to work on some pretty awful stuff in the past. I hope to see them have a little more freedom. Homecoming was a long time ago, so I'm hoping they can make an awesome Strider game.

This will be my first Strider game too.

It's not a knee jerk reaction. It's taking quantifiable data and applying it to something they are working on.

Last I checked KI just got booed by the FGC.

And it's great that the original directors are involved..but that really doesn't mean anything either.

Picasso can direct someone how to paint, but if they can't paint (or in this case, can't make a competent game ala Double Helix) it'll still turn out like shit.

Except it didn't. The booing at Evo was for the exclusivity of it. Everyone that played it at Evo has positive things to say about it, including gaffers. And the actual crowd during the on stage demonstration also enjoyed it.

Stop listening to stream monsters and bad gaming press sites.

Double Helix is absolutely for sure making the game.

Guys.... guys....

They refer to Strider as a Capcom All Star....

CAPCOM ALL STARS FIGHTING GAME INCOMING!!!

It's amazing how many minions exist relative to Marvel's actual sales. Like Mk9 trumps Marvel, yet kombatants are usually pretty silent on the board.

Negative Gaf is negative.

Let's wait and see how it actually looks in action or even better how it plays.

You gotta start somewhere right?

Hype=dead

Double Helix can technically make a game so all they need good designers and producers/directors. Hopefully that's the case with this.
Guys,

The original Strider and Strider 2 developers are the main designers of Strider. Double Helix is doing the grunt work. #SDCC

they're like on the same identical path as Grin studios.

Edit:

Both have made numerous games based on movies
DH: Battleship, Green Lantern
Grin: Wanted, Terminator

Both have worked with the same 3 japanese companies
square enix
capcom
sega

Both worked on a 2.5D of an old classic era game.

Both have developed racing games

Both worked on Stider for this gen/next gen. Grin's was cancelled.

I don't think its Wii U. The Double Helix site doesn't mention it.
