Kobb's great in front of a camera and interacting with people. If MS were smart they should be pushing him more into the limelight for Xbox generally, not just for KI.

But for the game to succeed and have good reviews it needs more content. They have to sell people on the game that are on the fence. This game will determine if we see another Killer Instinct.

Yeah, and anything less than the original roster at launch would be a joke. A joke to the KI community and FGC. If it means pushing the game launch back then push it back. I'd rather it not be dead on arrival.

I don't necessarily agree. A lot of games on the PC in recent have shown the power of early release and constant updates. That constant interaction and updates from the developers is a powerful tool to keep people engaged in a game as new content is made available at regular intervals. At the Evo panel, Ken Lobb did say that they are looking at the game as a service. There has been mentioned of 'seasons' and 'purchasing all the content for a season' as an option. A disk based released probably will be made available when they have decided to stop updating the game. That may suggest why they are releasing the game as digital only.

For an example, I purchased the early alpha access to Prison Architect and Don't Starve on Steam. Whenever the developers updated the game with new content I would jump back in to play with the changes. It's a powerful tool to bring back people into the game once they have lost interest or start to lose interest in the game.

That is a fair point and one that I had not honestly considered. I'm pretty critical of the game but in all fairness I do plan on purchasing it at some point (as I do every other fighter.) The team seems very genuine and the videos from Max have highlighted the promises of the engine. I don't mean to always come off so critical, I just have a lot of fond memories of playing KI in the arcade and want the game to do well.

Really disappointed we aren't seeing Chief Thunder today, almost positive they said we were getting more at SDCC...

It is disappointing but judging from Ken's tweet I think he should turn up sooner than later. It will be interesting to see where they go with the character design. Of all the characters to steer away from the original concept I think Thunder would benefit the most. Native American characters are rarely represented in gaming so I think it's an opportunity to do them justice.

I still want to know who the new character that was supposedly shown at Pax was. Everyone else seems to have forgotten that was mentioned.

It seems like even internally they are changing the script as this show goes on. The internal message was a character reveal each main event (including SSDC) and that was as recent as EVO.

What I think? They obviously working on this game realtime as they talk to us and the guys behind the scenes coding just can't keep up with the original schedule hence the recent delays. I really hope they start showing or at least confirming more soon. People are putting too much credit in a story from a RARE fanboy website saying cinder, spinal and fulgore are already confirmed. They might be for the duration of the game but for launch? not sure.

man. I really do not have the cash to buy 2 consoles and my mind is already targeting the PS4. but damn this is probably the only game making me sway to xbox one more.

like.. I really really really want to play this. its just awesome. all the videos I have seen so far screams awesome.

and I didn't even play the N64 or SNES game " was there a SNES game even ? lol "

kudos to the developers for this good work. I want this more than new sequel of Street Fighter

People aren't going to jump into this game once they realize how much it will cost to unlock the full game

I guess you haven't been following the game much, huh? :P

how do you know which character you want to main if you can't try them all out? based on their looks?

Yes, basically.

Outside of tournaments, I think that's mostly how it works in all fighting games. Especially in the OG KI where every character was basically a shoto/rushdown and you only really had a choice between input styles. At the tournament level, there will be characters that are considered more "viable" than others but I still run into Guy, Gouken and Hawk online all the time so the tiers don't necessarily transfer over.

KI3 looks like it'll have more playstyle variety but I still expect the nostalgia crowd to stick with their favourites and new players to base their initial decision on char' design.

Honestly, I think most of us were hesitant after E3. (Double Helix?! F2P?!)

If it weren't for Max's channel and DH's receptive and open design philosophy, I probably wouldn't have even given the game a second look.

At least you took the time to actually check it out further. A lot of people seem to have written it off as crap almost immediately, which is a huge shame.

Based on the SDCC video with Ken, he said thunder would be playable at gamescon and into PAX with another tease at TGS and then drive that to launch. Problem is launch would be right around the corner so unless they show off multiple characters at once before launch, we're talking two more characters, possibly three and that's it. If you do the 3 (fulgore, cinder, spinal) as mentioned by an earlier article, that leaves no orchid or tj combo. Basically with that schedule, there won't be atleast 2 classic KI characters.

I hope I'm missing something.

True but I wonder how much it will end up being by the time you purchase the additional content that most fighters have included from the get go.

Street Fighter 4 - $60
Super Street Fighter 4 - $40
Super Street Fighter 4 AE - $15
All Costumes - around $50 all said. (optional but I'm invested)
Ultra Street Fighter 4 - $15

This will be my upgrade path for just one fighting series to keep up and stay competitive. Nothing KI can do will top that. Especially if you factor extra controls that were mandatory if you wanted to play on 360 due to the main controller having a shit DPad. that's an extra 40-130 depending on if your a pad or stick man lol. Us Fighting game fans are insane.
