I was just wondering if anybody is going to Pitchfork this year in Chicago at Union Park...I will be in attendance all three days and would love to meet some local GAFers.

Here's the breakdown of all of the bands day by day

I'm pretty confident this is going to be the best festival of the year.

Some bands I will be seeing for sure include Bjork, R. Kelly, Daughn Gibson, Joanna Newsom, M.I.A., Swans, Lil B, Metz, El-P, Killer Mike, Julia Holter, fuck every band for real sounds good.

Also what's the best deep dish guys? Giordano's, Gino's East, Lou Malnalti's?

depends if you like more cheese or more crust. Lou's has more crust so I like it more, but people who are team cheese will tell you Giordano's because of the stuffed pizza.

I'm a dirty suburbanite tho, just traveling into the city everyday for the fest. maybe I'll see gafers around, but it's looking preeeetty dead in here

I went last year and had a blast, but now all my friends pretend to be too old for festivals (I'm 23)

None of that tourist shit.

Art of Pizza is on Ashland. You should peep that.

I am not going to Pitchfork, entirely too hot for my Irish blood. I may go to an afterhour. Keep the thread updated with the ones you are planning on going to and I will holla at you if we are at the same one.

I literally know none of these bands other than Belle & Sebastian and Lil B. And the last one i'd never even want to hear live.

I bet the beard-ratio of this particular festival was off the fucking charts though!

You don't know R. Kelly, Wire, Bjork, Solange, Swans, Breeders, Low, M.I.A., El-P/Killer Mike, or Yo La Tengo? These are not new bands, some of these bands aren't exactly spring-chickens, and quite a few have done decently well on the billboard charts. So either you're not a fan of music, have been living under a rock, or mainly listen to Toby Keith and Brad Paisley. Shut up.

what hrd said if you know only those two bands you don't listen to shit and are stuck in 2007 where talking about hipsters and beards was still a thing

Savages were so fucking great. White Lung were pretty good too, and Parquet Courts were fun as hell, but Savages won yesterday by a mile. Rustie was pretty fun too, set lost momentum in the middle a bit tho. Also, I'm realizing how weird the lineup is this year. It's like all rock, and a lot of it is...older-leaning? The Savages crowd had a ton of older people, the Breeders obviously had a huge number of people who were up there, Swans did. There hasn't been much in the way of electronic music. weird. Today's the big one though

I know R. Kelly and Bjork by name, sure.
None of the others.

Fucking pathetic that you even insinuate that i'm not a "fan of music" because I don't know these other relatively unknown bands (At least not in Europe). Embarrassing.

they're not relatively unknown tho. Solange has a giant hit. MIA has been a mainstay for years, all over the radio. El-P and Killer Mike released two of the most acclaimed rap albums of last year and just released a hugely liked collab album.

Going further than bands mentioned: Rustie's been very popular for over 2 years. TNGHT blew up big time in 2012, literally inescapable songs that you would have to go out of your way to not hear, and hudmo (half of TNGHT) produced Yeezus. Savages, Metz, Parquet Courts, White Lung, Pissed Jeans? Celebrated punk/post-punk/post-hardcore rock bands. Chairlift and Toro y Moi are two very great (and very different) synthpop acts that have been around for years and years (and both are popular internationally).

It's embarrassing for you bruh. For someone to feel so insecure in their music taste and ability to actually keep up with music that they had to post in a thread about an out-of-country festival is crazy pathetic. good luck catching up though

Metz was insane. Ryan Hemsworth was insane yesterday. I missed Swans only because I'll be seeing them solo in Cincy in a couple of days. Also there was this extremely hot freckled brunette at Hemsworth that I swear was a celebrity but I couldn't figure out her name. I saw her earlier and thought she looked familiar and then later in the press line because I had front row. The security guards were all talking her up and she was the only one not taking pictures of Ryan. I think Ryan Hemsworth has a celebrity girlfriend. Amazing show, getting twerked on in front row while Hemsworth remixed Blueberry Pills was a dream come to true. Also we got Lou Malnati's delivered to the hotel and it was amazing!...Art of Pizza was a little out of the way.

I'm a big solange fan, but to say she has a giant hit is laughable

Tell me how Rustie is breh
Hadn't heard his Danny Brown song, was fire. Played it twice, and the second time it dropped into After Light and people went nuts

I don't really know anyone who hasn't heard Losing You and it charted all over. Not as high as I thought admittedly cause I don't keep a close eye on that, but it's no underground track

El-P's set was basically Run The Jewels material, shit was godlike. BASEDGOD killed it, and there were so many girls twerking and shit I got in trouble with my girl as they didn't seem to care who they twerked on...Pretty sure some pitchfork got pics of me cookin too. Goose Island had Run The Jewels beer shit was pretty good. Evian Christ's set gave Hemsworth a real run for the money, he's got so much new shit that's going to put everyone to shame. Some really wavvy dark castle shit with bass out of this world. M.I.A.'s album is going to shatter everyone's wildest dreams, probably the hypest shit ever, like picture the entire festival going HAM dancing and getting jiggy. Was like even more hype than the crazy mosh pit at Metz, but only with dancing instead of rowdy moshing. We skipped out before R. Kelly because I had a five hour drive ahead, so that was the only bummer. CRAZY CRAZY FESTIVAL!

None of those bands are unknown, though. Doesn't matter if you're in Europe or Zimbabwe. If you have internet access, good, new music is a few clicks away.

Also, I envy all of you who saw the basedgod. I saw him in Madison almost a year ago and he was amazing. I tied his shoes.
