This sounds like fun.

"Uhh, yeah, about that filter. I uh.. need porn. Please remove it"

Not embarrassing at all.

When my place of employment offered free access to Playboy TV I had no problem signing up. lol. I didn't watch it but I wanted it because it was FREE!

Boy when are governments going to learn that porn is their friend. I mean, there is hardly a better opiate for the masses!

with all the bloody issues this country has this was sure a pressing matter to bring forward

fucking imbeciles

This is stupid. Child Porn is on Tor, is it not? And that's encrypted....so this does nothing but cause a lot of churn for 99% of people to see naked adults. Good job, UK.

So you're saying Brazzers and Naughty America should invade Britain to forcibly open their markets to porn?

What will be the Pornish Empire's Hong Kong? The Isle of Wight?

Don't worry guys! I went through puberty before the Internet even existed.

All you need are a few of these:

And an old cable box so you can watch scrambled soft-core porn on Cinemax:

Trust me, if you stare at the scrambled signal long enough eventually you'll be able to see something that resembles a naked woman.

Have fun in the dark ages!

Oh man, the memories. Always remember to change the channels twice before you're done in case someone hits that last button on the remote.

But JCPenny? The good shit is Victoria's Secret.

Currently, the Conservative party are on power. You don't need a God to be a self-righteous arsehole with a moral superiority complex,
Pretty much this. You don't need a religion to have a sense of morality. Heck, I'm sure they can pull a lot of defenses about how porn objectifies women and spreads sexuality which has hurt society in many ways in their view.

Surprised they aren't blocked already if hate speech is illegal.

Hate speech, even on your own private networking pages, is valid of fining in Britain.

Correct. The legal authority of the Crown is still invested by God.

Goes for Canada, Australia, etc as well.

The crown has no legal authority. The law is more than a set of words in books. That's the sheet music, but law itself is a performance art. In those countries, it's been a performance so long running that entire sections may barely resemble the original composition.

My phone network used to make you opt-in to receive adult sites over 3G. You needed a credit card to show you were over 18, and then they'd charge and immediately refund £1 to verify it, without you having to make an awkward phone call to customer services. That's probably how this will work.

Make it an opt-out service and publish a list of everybody that opts out. If you want to do something wrong Cameron, you have to go all the way.

No way this will make it through, clueless on how the net works, what it's used for and the ISPs hate this with a passion.

If its as simple as turning off googles auto safe search moderate setting (which everyone does as soon as they realize its on), I actually can't hate this that much if it got passed into law. I'm trying to hate though.

What the hell UK, isn't this suppose to be what nutty religious politic groups are about, what's wrong with you.

You use to be cool.

I don't think it's wrong actually, as long as you just have to opt-in to have full access to... your usual websites.
Isn't it basically how search engines are set up by default ? They tell you that some results are filtered because of adult content, and that you can disable them by changing your setup.

If it works like this, it really isn't that much of a problem. But imagine having to actually call someone to remove the block. :/

It still is quite silly.

I can imagine the awkwardness when asking the tech support to disable to filter.

But anyway what the hell is this shit? This is a country where you have adult channels available in Freeview after 11pm in practically every home.

Will lull parents into a false sense of security, and they'll risk taking their eyes off what their kids are doing online. Better to have full parental attention.

What's with the whole surveillance thing in England? First they are the country with the most amount of CCTVs in the world and now this.

Like has been said, I'm more concerned about the normal sites that get blocked by phone networks when you haven't opted out of the block.

And yeah, the freeview porn after 11 just makes this even more ridiculous.

So, say a person really likes to look at child porn and this filter would prevent them for doing so (lol).

They can just ask to disable the filter. So, the point of this is what exactly? To have a list of who watches online porn? That's a long list.

Why block all porn when you want to stop CP?
Its not like those sites are open for everyone to visit right?
Just ban those sites and youre done.
