Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

I'm throwing this out there: Gung Ho should buy them. We'd still get some Vita games then, and honestly I can respect what they're trying to do with all that P&D money.

Gungho wants developers experienced with HD development. Atlus has almost no experience.

Wooo! I finally caved in and bought a Vita! :D

(Memory card price made me a sad...)

I look forward to playing many of the games mentioned in this thread! :)
Welcome Aussie Vitabro!
Great choice on your first game for the system, Sly 4's a fun really fun 3D platformer.
I'd play online more if I didn't keep getting disconnected randomly. There should no reason why Soul Sacrifice has problems with my internet. :/

Yeah, there should be no reason your internet should have connection issues. I had disconnection issues and trouble getting people to join online, but I get that with just about every online game.

And a bit off-topic but boy am I jealous of your internet speed, I would kill for that.

When was the last time Sony bought a Japanese developer? Oh right, never.

Atlus is probwbly going to be bought by a unknown to the industry just like Index, and Takara.

Probably, but there can always be a first time for everything. They already lost MH, losing all ties with megaten in all forms would just be another blow to them in Japan. As was stated also though that I had not thought about is that its not just buying Atlus the developer, its also buying Atlus the publisher. Which I could see neither Sony, or Nintendo wanting to blow money on since they would just ditch that side of the purchase considering they already are publishers.

Square Enix is a truly perplexing company. They ported Million's Arthur, an F2P card game that could have been done with Flash as a native Vita PSN title. Yet Chaos Rings, a 3D RPG comes over as a PSM game and struggles to run.

Probably people that work on PSM approached them for a port of Chaos Rings.

Screen taken by my PS Vita... This afternoon for my impressions on the preview code =)

Game just looks insane visually for a handheld title, its crazy. I wont lie either its going to be great to get a proper, great looking first person shooter on the platform. It probably helps that out of what available Killzone is one of the only FPS ip that I enjoy currently outside of stuff like Borderlands, Far Cry, and maybe Destiny. So I cant wait to get my hands on it.

The framerate is very fluid and the gameplay itself is very fun. You can approach the levels in very different ways: for example you can go stealth or you can "simply" play like in another normal FPS... I was surprised by this possibilities. Moreover you can also personalize the character in armor, weapons and gadgets.

Latency issues, no.
But if the routing isn't configured correctly, connection issues could still exist. :)

As for Sly 4, I pity anyone who has to deal with a couple of the areas where it slows down without being able to cloud save to PS3 and play with a somewhat stable framerate. Game is 85% awesome on Vita... those couple of sections really tarnish it though. I don't know how I would have finished it if I didn't have the PS3 version to switch to.

Welcome!
Did you buy a 32gbp memory card at JB, RRP. That most definitely would have hurt.

I got mine at Superufo for 80 odd USD. Expensive but a bit more bearable haha.

I want larger capacity cards, 32gb is too small.

welcome to the club. im kicking myself since i bought my vita last month at jb for $250 with soul sacrifice and the starter pack. and now they dropped it to $199 with LBP. always fucking happens to me lol next time im gonna buy something im gonna wait it out

Caved and bought Soul Sacrifice last night.

Still had my demo save so got to carry straight on from their.

Great graphics
Great monster design
Great combat with huge veriaty of spells, makes it really fun trying different set ups.
Great crafting system
Great frame rate
Great story telling style (bar the actual books voice which is UGH)
Can personalise your character looks without worrying about stats (I prefer this to being stuck with a certain look for certain armour)

I know I am gonna play the crap out of this game. I got about 100 hours out of God Eater and 75 out of Ragnarok. I wonder what I will get out of this.

just think about how you saved 50 compared to me when i got it last year for 300 with uncharted and case pack from jb heh

Stealth inc doesn't mention cross-buy anywhere, although it is cross-play.

The DLC shows as £2.79 so if it's supposed to be free, they've made some sort of error I assume. Unless it downloads when you buy the game, I haven't checked out yet.

I confirm you HAVE to buy the game to get the DLC as free: it's like they said: "DLC is free if you buy the game in the first 2 weeks", not "DLC is free in the first 2 weeks"

New Guacamelee DLC is up too

Yeah I bought at JB RRP... $114 :( I couldn't bring myself to buy a smaller card due to having PS+ and needing the space.

Oh well, small price to pay in the long run I suppose ;)

either way it's a smart move esp. if you have PS+. I was actually going to recc. getting it if you didn't just post about it.

now....go get whatever games are free too! ( i hope you've been "purchasing" all the freebies too on your ps3 up til this point)

Yeah definitely =] I had a 4gb for a week or so (It came bundled luckily) before seeking to buy an 16gb and even that filled up fast with PS+. Should have went straight to 32gb.

Has anyone seen anything on whether The Walking Dead will be cross-play when it comes to Vita? It’s in the EU PSN sale at the moment for £7.99 for the season pass if anyone fancies a punt.

Took a few screens of this week's Soul Sacrifice update. The new Fellow Sorcerer quest (which goes from 7-9 stars in difficulty) line includes the new Luna Wastes stage. It's a nice looking area. The spinning orbs in the middle of the stage activate a pulling field every once in awhile that lasts a good 30 seconds.

Friendly AOE spells now appear on screen, which is incredibly handy. My SO is full Divine so that's a huge boon.

An unmentioned change - they fixed the rating system for North American versions. Divine rank is gone, Legendary is now the top rank and they added Third-Rate. I think it's now in line with every other version, and matches the trophy requirements.

I have to say that I am enjoying Chaos Rings. Yes, it is janky but is still playable. Just having "real" analog control helps the game so much. Hopefully there will be a patch.

The game I really want to promote is Draw Slasher. It's currently on sale for a little over $3 and it is a ton of fun! It's a ninja finger slasher. Buy it!

Welcome Vitabro! It's always great hearing of newcomers. Now as many others have said, get some PS Plus on that glorious handheld!

man i love hot shots golf but some of this new dlc is pretty bullshit

I haven't got it yet, been too absorbed in EDF. Sucks to hear about the DLC being weaksauce though. I'm a long way from getting pro scores on the later courses, or even the last set of DLC courses, so I sure have my work cut out for me.

Speaking of EDF, btw, I don't know if it was a sale last week or not, but the price is now back up to $39.99. Glad I jumped on it when I did, it is an absolute blast to play. Starting out the first 10 missions or so was a good intro, then it started to really ramp up. I posted this same image on my twitter, with the same caption, but I can't get over how accurately it describes the game.

Chaotic beauty. Giant mechs walking through enormous explosions from other mechs, like four more behind that, several off to the side, 50+ flying ships trying to obliterate my squad. All on normal difficulty as well. Tried hard, or even harder, and got roflstomped pretty quick. I just wish I hadn't waited as long as I did to jump on the EDF bus.
