Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

God knows the Animal Crossing series is responsible for taking a criminal amount of hours away from my time ... it's just that, from the picture's perspective, I can't help but view it that way, never happened to me in the games proper. I don't mean the way the hair looks, but rather, than in this picture it seems less like hair that's naturally part of his head, and more like an add-on.

Mind you, this is not a complain, just seems amusing to me. Game looks superb.

Ah, alright. Yeah, the lighting makes it look kind of like the snap-on top to a Lego minifig.

How does THAT make any sense (other than HAHA I removed a letter to get the name of another character)? :/

I'm usually a Link main, but I love me some Ike and I wouldn't mind Magnus replacing him (even though I know it's very unlikely)

But Magnus is boring. All he can do is swing a sword. I'm sure many would prefer Ike, but each to their own, huh?

Pit here, Pit there. Here comes the Magnus/Palutena announcement. :)
Nah on Magnus. Will very likely be an assist character, but I would bet on two Kid Icarus characters, so, it will be Pit and Palutena/Medusa/Hades.

I'm a bit worried about the games having completely different stages. That alone would be terrific news, but along with the fact that each version's stages will be based on the respective form factor's games makes me worried about, say, a Kid Icarus stage on Wii U and a Xenoblade stage for the 3DS version. And I suppose there's also that main Pokémon games are on handheld, while main Zelda games are on home.

I guess they have already thought about this and will take it under consideration. I just hope there isn't a very strict and unbreakable rule for stages' source.

Kid Icarus NES was released on a home console so they can make a Wii U stage based on it.Xenoblade wasn't released on handhelds so it can't be on 3DS.

Zelda has already two stages on 3DS, Spirit Train from Spirit Tracks and Gerudo Valley from OOT 3D.

Pokemon will probably have a Pokemon Stadium stage on Wii U.

I just hope they mix stages around so we're not all damned to only handheld/console stages. It'd be nice to experience stages like that.

Does the full Famitsu scan bring up the 'customisation' aspect again at all? Know he wants to keep it intentionally vague, but I have a gut feeling Sakurai's going to work that aspect in via a specific character or two. Villager's face/gender changing depending on how you look in your New Leaf save or bringing over your FE:A's avatar (though I'd prefer a Chrom/"Marth" team up) could be a nice visual extra.

Or the supposed Mii could also be it.

Theme of Magnus better be a battle tune. That's all I have to say about that.

See, "It can't be on 3DS / Wii U" sounds a bit problematic to me. It's an unproductive limitation that can potentially make content very fit to one of the two form factors excluded. For Xenoblade I wouldn't say it's a problem, and I suppose I'd rather have a Spirit Tracks stage in 3DS than a Twilight Princess one (although Wind Waker would work well on either). But when it comes to series like Pokémon, why cancel even the possibility of, say, N's castle on Wii U? Having a Stadium-based stage on Wii U is a given, but selection of story-based stages is limited.

Most Nintendo series are equally well represented on both portable and home, but there are certain cases where one form factor's game-based stage is much more iconic than any option on the other one. And even disregarding that fact, it's nice to always be able to count the possibility.

Palutena could work well. Is there even a character that fights with a staff? Can't remember if there is one, but I'd make for an interesting moveset.

random thought of the day: they should just replace SSE with Pokemon Stadium-style minigames
That's a brilliant idea. Perhaps a number of mini-games that uses the standard mechanics in a very specific way. Say, like Break-the-Targets or Multi-Man but with more variety in goals and more competition-focused. Some people complained that Brawl didn't have character a specific BtT stages, but I think that if there were, say, 10 mini-games like BtT, it would be even better than Melee.

Of course, mini-games with varied mechanics are also a great option.

Yeah, that'd be fun, kind of like Steet Figher's car and barrel-smashing mini-games. Race to the finish should be back as well (it wasn't in Brawl, was it?), perhaps with more than one course.

They could make it all related to the fighting mechanics (ie: avoiding a barrage of bumpers to stay on a platform), and it'd be a lot more interesting than just having multiple target tests.

random thought of the day: they should just replace SSE with Pokemon Stadium-style minigames

That's what I thought after reading this:

There is nothing like the SSE story mode. Instead, they are trying to do something more focused on character collaborations of their all-star cast. For the 3DS version, they are planning on having the usual versus mode, plus another completely different way to play.

Some people were speculating it could reference more CG movies a few pages back, but considering how Sakurai specifically denied playing to get movies, I think these collaborations are going to be minigames.

If they are unrelated to the core mechanics though, like Pokemon Stadium's, I can't imagine they'll end up very good...

I stand by my theory that Adventure Mode from Melee is back, but it's unique to each character this time around.

- Mario starts at Mushroom Kingdom, goes through several stages from other games, and ends with a final match against Bowser in Bowser's Castle, where he ends rescuing Peach.

- Samus goes through a giant Metroid-style level, but with elements and enemies from other series. She fights Ridley at the end and has to escape to her spaceship before the level collapses.

Stuff like that.

Needs more .jpeg compression.
btw.. I see they're cloning the sky/stars texture. What a lazzy mess.

Oh come on man, that's the least thing you'll notice while you're playing; no need to invest much on something which won't interfere with the gameplay's enjoyment.

On the subject of story mode, even if they don't go all out a lá SSE, I definitely want some of the expertise Sakurai gained with Uprising to show in this title. Especially because Smash is the sort of game that SCREAMS for a humorous narrative, and the possibilities are endless if you really squeeze the crossovers for all they're worth.

It might be a small thing to you but it bothers me a lot they do stuff like that.
I'm talking about every developer, not just Sora. And I know it won't interfere with the gameplay
but I also enjoy admiring what's going on in the background and cloned textures is like a slap in the face.

Why would he have to when he already controls minds???

This guy knows whats up.

Anyways , Ridley can be in smash bros. Just had an idea.

Ridley can't be like a solitary space dragon right, he has to be apart of a species.

Small ridley could be a younger ridley, big boss ridley could be an adult ridley.

Both dangerous.

I think Ridley's species went extinct. Either way just give him a big hunched body about the size of Bowser, Charizard sized wings, and a tail that hangs behind like a few Pikmin.

What about mini Ridley?

Ridley is the last remaining member of his Space Dragon species in the Metroidverse. He's been cloned various times by Space Pirates and to an extent the Galactic Federation along with Parasitic duplication. As the personification of death Ridley always finds a way to survive.
