Fighting Games Weekly | July 22-28 | Life's A Beech

Sp00ky not streaming tonight? He said yesterday he would.

Yes and no. It's the most balanced version of SF4 but since they are also adding new characters it doesn't hurt to tweak the existing characters a bit. Also unblockables are a bitch.

When I cock an eyebrow at a Marvel patch, I'm assuming it's one that doesn't also add new characters and is just tweaks to existing characters. Stuff like fixing TAC doesn't count as a balance patch to me.
Why does fixing TACs not count as something that affects balance when it changes a fundamental mechanic and subsequently dishes out advantages and disadvantages to characters that can get more and less out of that mechanic?

Capcom: "Give us feedback on UMvC3."
Fans: "Okay!"
Angry People on the Internet: "What are you giving them feedback for?"

Yeah, I don't get it

Because TAC as it stands now is broken IMO. It's the same as fixing glitches to me. Same goes for dead man glitch. Get it out.

Alright, this has gotten a lot better after they moved on to the EVO stuff. The interviewers were definitely out of their element with the legal stuff.

idk did AE2012 need a balance update?

I'm not asking as a counterpoint, I'm asking cause I don't know

No. Neither did AE2011, although it would have been a really crappy way to close out to SF4. But no the game doesn't need a balance update.

With UMvC3, the fans love to note that it brings the most hype and draws the biggest numbers. Despite some disappointing things (TAC infinites) it is ultimate fighting game sandbox.

While I generally applaud Capcom's support. At one point or another it is time to let the games die and that is the case for all 3 of their titles (SF, SFxT and MvC). SF4 was the biggest title despite various complaints and came after a huge gap. The Capcom crowd needs to get thirsty again (thirsty enough to drink whatever Capcom pours) to reverse the downward trend.

Ultradavid confirms US as hottest players in the world. West Coast dominates in hot nationally.

Europe is low tier in looks. Slasher has a thing for Zak Bennett.

Patch talk has been going on way before feedback was asked for. You guys came prematurely.

Damn, Queens Villiage? That trip is no joke. He has to travel even farther than I do. That's like another 20-30 minutes. Well, not in a car.

Except Capcom never asked for feedback on UMvC3. Read again what Ono had said:

"After watching [Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3] at Evo this year," Ono said through a translator, "we [see that we] do have things here and there that could be balanced better." Ono added that "in terms of content, we don't really have any ideas about how to make the game better," but asked fans to discuss the changes they'd like to see.

"Maybe we can make something happen," he said. "Maybe."

"In terms of content, we don't really have any ideas about how to make the game better" more or less means "game is ass, we don't know how to make it less ass so stop asking us to patch it". "Maybe we can make something happen" needs to be followed up by "but we probably won't". There's only one thing that can give us a chance for a UMvC3 patch and that's if Ono gets kicked out of Capcom and someone who knows what he is doing takes over. So instead of giving this clown the attention he doesn't deserve we should ignore him and make him realize how far he has driven Capcom fighting games to their death by his refusal to make a SF5.
