If you have a scoop you are confident with you post it, and then later post the follow-up statement as another article, double-dipping on the storys hit count.

Holding an article/scoop whilst getting technical confirmation for an article you don't have full confidence in however, is a different matter.

In journalism they call this a "tease." It's very common for big stories.
