The Beers dude calling him out simply because he wouldn't give gametrailers his opinion on something he clearly didn't care about may have helped. He's a target enough because he has no filter for that mouth of his, but I don't think he deserved Beers coming at him like that over something that isn't Fez.
I was never a fan of his output or his comments, but he's a game maker, people like his games, so let him exist, the character assassination was unwarranted and says more about Gametrailers and how they play than it does about Fish.
Why are we diagnosing Fish with Bipolar again? Is somebody here his doctor and violating patient confidentiality? Has Fish made a public announcement to this effect?
I really don't understand why people have to resort to personal attacks at all here. Respect somebody for their body of work or ignore them. Same with Hollywood stars. I jump at the opportunity to see a new Tom Cruise movie because I know he'll always give that same electric performance. Who he is in his personal life is not relevant in the slightest.

Why are you defending this guy so much? You can't excuse this kind of behavior just because of the disorder he may have. If he seriously can't control himself, then he needs to get off of twitter and stay out of the spotlight. Simple as that.

It's not an expression that he can simply flip a switch and fix the situation, it's an expression that in the mean time the rest of us cannot be asked to shoulder his burden.
I believe in a compassionate society and in redemption.
I have an individual close to me in my life who suffers from a recognized and diagnosed mental health illness that is generally considered more severe, less treatable, and more outwardly hostile to others than bipolar. This isn't to have a pissing match. I just want to say that while I support him/her and would be willing to accommodate him/her in many regards (including giving them a place to sleep when necessary) there are also limits that are not to be crossed because I need to protect myself and my own happiness. That's not about justified or not, right or wrong--those kinds of lines are absolutely necessary and inevitable for you to draw when someone like that is in your life.
As I mentioned above, a compulsive gambler cannot stop and cannot help themself and yet they also CANNOT be allowed to hurt others. Support is necessary and given, but it isn't a license for the disease to express itself in a way that hurts others without consequence.
This is the public at large and Fish's peers in the industry expressing that Fish's abuse and attention-seeking has reached or crossed that line. We can be empathetic to the challenges he faces while still having clear and fair expectations of his behaviour.
He made a public announcement to that effect.

The question is why does he get this abuse? Maybe because he has said all kinds of very divisive stupid shit in very public places over, and over, and over, and over again. His games should have spoke for themselves. Even when Fez was about to go onto Steam he was calling people out trying sabotage himself. Just apologize for some of the stupid shit you have said. People will accept that over time. He just keeps it going and because of this is just builds until it is a shit mountain. It is like Lindsay Lohan on a path to self destruction.
And John Blow just has this mentality that games should be X and anything not X isn't worth playing because it is made by uncaring robots for violent Cro-Magnons and it makes you want to shake some sense into the guy.

Truly unfortunate. While I haven't played Fez, I find Phil fascinating after I watched Indie game the movie. He is one of those rare instances of a person with strong opinions who isn't afraid to speak his mind.

Honestly, I don't blame him. I don't think he handled it in the most ideal way, but I don't blame him. The industry does have a lot of odd little foibles, that very easily could become aggravating if you're dealing with them constantly. Again, I don't think he handled the situation in an ideal manner, but I'm hardly going to condemn the man for a very human shortcoming.
So it's totally ok to go open season on him!
Not really what i was commenting on but whatever different strokes, i don't think being an asshole justifies a steady stream of hundreds of other assholes honing their own asshole behavior in your direction for an extended period of time.
I was brought up to ignore self indulgent people who feed on attention and being on the internet hasn't really changed that.

Problem is that he still is accountable for his actions. I have OCD, not bipolar I admit, but OCD is annoying as well and guess what; I take responsibility for my actions. I have mild OCD not the extreme like most people think of when they see OCD people. But I do not go out and call people cunts, fags, and tell people to kill themselves over a social network.
I feel bad that he may have a mental disorder, but that in no way means that I have to make it an excuse for his actions. There are doctors that help with mental disorders, and sure not everything works, but if you know you are prone to outbursts then why the fuck are you on twitter? Just turn it off and go do something else.
Following the golden rule is not disgusting. Treat others with how you want to be treated. It is a great thing to live by actually.

Come on man, stop acting like a "disorder" is not a big deal. Unless you do in fact know about anxiety/bi-polar beyond seeing it in movies or television, don't trivialize it. Mental illness is a really complicated thing that people who haven't studied or experienced it have no business criticizing.
Saying he has any sort of mental illness at all is already a pretty big assumption that shouldn't be thrown around so easily.
Edit: Just saw King Allant's post above mine that pretty much refutes the last sentence in this original post.

Yes, you are, or at the very least trying to play up his bipolar disorder as a means to excuse his behavior. There's treatment for his disorder, and if he chooses not to seek it or it's not entirely effective for him, then he should stay away from public forums like interviews and Twitter. Sorry, but that's the simple truth. He's a narcissist and an attention whore, and quite frankly, he doesn't deserve to be defended after some of the comments he's made in the past.
I'm not a mental health expert but I've had counselling and Fish seems like he would benefit if he had someone to talk to about the negativity and threats flung at him. The guy's got talent, it'd be a shame for it to go to waste, there's always help out there for everyone to seek out.
